Nestled on Bethnal Green Road, The Sun Tavern is a cozy 1850s pub with a pirate-ship vibe, serving up an impressive selection of whiskies and punch cocktails.
"The Sun Tavern is a stylish cocktail & whisky bar which also serve Poitin (a traditional Irish alcohol), fine beers and surprisingly great coffee! The place makes me think of a pirates boat. It is quite small, very dark with old brick walls, wooden floor and wooden tables. DJs are playing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and there is always a great vibe here." - Mélanie Hubert-Crozet
"Same-day delivery within 3 miles of Bethnal Green. They also ship nationwide. The Sun Tavern is not just what we now refer to our windowsill as when we down a beer there, it’s also one of London’s best cocktail bars. Their online shop has £30 Quarantini Kits that include eight serves of booze for £30. You can mix and match your cocktails and the best part is as well as classics like margaritas and old fashioneds, they’re also repping cocktails like sazeracs, penicillins, and boulevardiers. Classy." - heidi lauth beasley
"Short of providing actual sunshine, The Sun Tavern has got pretty much all of your socially-distanced summer needs covered. Picnic hampers? Check. Aperol Spritz kits? Check. Our one true alcohol love, the Negroni? Absolutely. Their quarantini kits are 30 quid for a pair of four-serving bottles, with the added bonus of being able to mix and match your choice of cocktails. Or you can just go for two bottles of Negroni. Because, Negroni." - heidi lauth beasley
"The Sun Tavern is one of those places that feels like the lovechild of your rowdiest local and your favourite great little bar. Ergo, we love it. On Bethnal Green Road, it prides itself on having a huge selection of Irish whisky but you’ll also find a short, sharp menu of spruced-up classic cocktails. Our personal go-to is Bonnie’s Margarita, but the espresso martini is also a strong contender for your Friday night. Be warned, that the live music nights and £9 cocktails make it super popular with locals and you’ll usually find people spilling out onto the pavement at the weekend, so be sure to book ahead. "The Sun Tavern is one of those places that feels like the lovechild of your rowdiest local and your favourite great little bar. Ergo, we love it. On Bethnal Green Road, it prides itself on having a huge selection of Irish whisky which, sure, probably doesn’t get the old margarita senses tingling but that’s where ‘Bonnie’s Margarita’ comes into play. We don’t know who Bonnie is but she’s probably a right laugh and owns 10 disco balls. Good for Bonnie. Be like Bonnie. Drink like Bonnie. You’ve got Ocho Blanco tequila, pisco, a sizzling scotch bonnet ferment, and some white vermouth that gives it a dry little kick. It’s nine quid and has never ever failed us. Kudos to Bonnie.
