"Reykjavík finally gets the five-star hotel it deserves with this sexy newcomer, a mash-up of everything we love about Edition hotels with plenty of Icelandic flair. An enormous black lava rock strewn with faux-fur blankets and throw pillows anchors the hotel’s sprawling lobby area on one end, with an enormous undulating wall projection of the northern lights on the other; from there, guests disseminate into any of a number of cozy nooks. The restaurant Tides (helmed by chef Gunnar Karl Gísalson, the force behind acclaimed Reykjavík restaurant Dill) serves up caught-that-day seafood and high-quality meats, while the spa takes recharging to a whole new level. —Todd Plummer"

"The newest arrival to the hotel scene in downtown Reykjavik, the Reykjavik Edition is a breath of cool, fresh air in a city that lives and breathes style and creativity. As a part of the coveted Edition brand of hotels designed by Ian Schrager and Marriott, this establishment puts Reykjavik in the same league as destinations like Manhattan, Barcelona, Tokyo, and Shanghai. Each hotel in the group is unique to its destination, and Reykjavik’s Edition is no different. The interiors feature splashes of Nordic creativity in the décor tempered by a clean and effortless design, with materials like basalt, lava, warm oak, and concrete capturing the youthful and vibrant feel of Reykjavik perfectly. This all gives way to the warm and inviting rooms, with Italian furnishings made from ash wood and floor-to-ceiling windows that either frame the fjord and Mt. Esja or views of downtown Reykjavik. Gracefully wedged between the Harpa Concert Hall and Reykjavik’s Old Harbour, the location couldn’t be better. Add in a rooftop terrace for viewing the northern lights, a restaurant run by Iceland’s first Michelin Star chef Gunnar Karl Gíslason, and a cushy speakeasy-style bar, and this is the hotel to beat."

"TIDES restaurant – set within Michelin-recommended The Reykjavik EDITION hotel – is a great setting for your first meal in Iceland, sporting a stylish look and offering stunning views over the harbour towards the mountains. Fresh Icelandic ingredients are the order of the day here, including seafood from the pristine surrounding waters and produce grown and reared on the island. If you're staying at the hotel, their Breakfast Table is a smorgasbord of Icelandic favourites and a truly delectable morning feast." - The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Editorial Team
