"The Grounds café—run out of a former pie factory in the warehouse district of Alexandria—makes coffee, juices, smoothies, baked goods, and rustic breakfast and lunch dishes with equal care. Order a flat white (a cross between a cappuccino and a latte) or a piccolo (a mini latte)—there’s also a coffee tasting board and a deconstructed iced coffee—to pair with your seasonal porridge or Big Brekkie (spicy chorizo and serrano ham with braised white beans, smoked peppers, halloumi, avocado, poached eggs, and thick slabs of house-baked toast). After brekkie, peek into the roastery and Potting Shed restaurant next door, and admire the enchanting garden and event space, complete with a coffee cart, barbecue joint, plant stall, and petting zoo."

"Escape to the country at one of Sydney’s most Instagrammed cafes, complete with a coffee roastery, artisan bakery, sustainable garden, and a small animal farm (home to resident pig Kevin Bacon!). This urban sanctuary occupies over an acre of space in a former industrial precinct in Alexandria, an inner-city suburb south of the CBD. The cafe's breakfast staples include avocado on toast, a burger on a brioche bun, fluffy buttermilk pancakes, and a healthful bowl of organic black rice and kale." - Sophie Davies

The Ground Alexandria never disappoints. The atmosphere is absolutely five-star — beautifully curated and incredibly welcoming. The food is delicious, though I’d say the prices lean towards the higher side. That said, it’s definitely worth it for the quality, presentation, and overall dining experience. The service is excellent — the staff are attentive, friendly, and always available when needed. One thing I particularly love is how the restaurant embraces seasonal themes. Right now, it’s decorated in a stunning Snow White theme, which adds a magical touch, especially for families with children. I brought my daughter along this time, and she was absolutely enchanted by the setting. For our meal, I ordered the Big Breakfast, a kids’ menu item for my daughter, and a Tropical Juice. Every dish was flavorful, well-prepared, and perfectly portioned. The juice was refreshing and paired wonderfully with the meal. Another big plus is the parking — there’s plenty of space, which makes the visit hassle-free, even during busy hours. The only downside I noticed was the limited restroom facilities. Inside the dining area, there’s just one restroom each for men and women, which can be a bit inconvenient during peak hours. Other than that, everything was exceptional. I highly recommend visiting, especially if you’re looking for a family-friendly place with great food, beautiful ambiance, and a unique seasonal charm.

The atmosphere was amazing. We tried nachos and other 2 times i forgot. Food was amazing, ambience was very fascinating. There was a snow white theme. Sometimes you have to wait for the table. They were very busy when we went. Service was outstanding. To gain the access to snow white theme place we needed to get food receipt. Overall experience was expensive and amazing.

Google
A little on the pricey side and often packed with long queues, but worth the wait. The food was excellent — hands down one of the best chicken dishes I’ve had in Sydney, and the coffee was just as impressive. What really stood out, though, was the service: fast, attentive, and genuinely warm without missing a beat. A rare blend of great food and hospitality.

Google
This place immune to critique by sheer popularity alone. The food was fine, the wine came out warm, and the decorations felt a little dusty and overdone. Still, it delivers on spectacle, and my visiting relatives were absolutely thrilled, which is probably the point.

Stepping into The Grounds of Alexandria always feels like entering another world, and this time, the Snow White theme truly took the experience to a magical level. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in a whimsical wonderland—lush floral displays, enchanting decor, and little touches of fantasy everywhere you turned. The attention to detail in bringing the fairytale to life was genuinely impressive. The ambience was absolutely stunning—every corner of the café was thoughtfully styled, making it not only a treat for the senses but also a paradise for photo lovers. Whether you’re into vibrant backdrops or soft fairytale aesthetics, you’ll find more than a few spots perfect for capturing that dream shot. The vibe throughout the place was energetic and lively, yet still cozy and welcoming. It struck the perfect balance between being family-friendly, fun, and a little romantic. You could see everyone around—from kids to adults—completely enjoying the atmosphere. The food and drinks lived up to the visual magic, too. We tried a mix of savory and sweet dishes, and everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. Their seasonal drinks and signature coffees were delightful, and the service was smooth and attentive despite the crowd. Overall, The Grounds of Alexandria delivered a fantastic experience once again. With its creative themes, stunning decor, and top-notch food and drinks, it’s the kind of place that stays with you long after you’ve left. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, the current Snow White theme is a must-see!

We really enjoyed our lunch here! The food and dessert were absolutely perfect. The staff were super friendly and helpful. There was also a charming winter-themed alley nearby, a lovely spot to explore after our meal.

We had a wonderful experience at the Glasshouse High Tea for a small baby shower. The venue is absolutely beautiful, the food was delicious, and the value for money was excellent. The ambiance was perfect for a celebration, and even though it was a bit windy outside, the heater kept us warm and comfortable the whole time. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind. A lovely young lady looked after us throughout and was so friendly and helpful. She helped us set everything up and made sure our orders were taken care of smoothly. They were also happy to adjust the menu to accommodate halal dietary needs, which we really appreciated. Everything ran perfectly and felt very special. Highly recommend for any special occasion.

Absolutely loved my visit to The Grounds Cafe! From the moment I stepped inside, the aesthetic was spot-on – a truly welcoming and stylish atmosphere. But it wasn't just the looks that impressed; the food was fantastic. Every dish was clearly made with care and tasted delicious. The drinks were equally wonderful, and the cakes? Oh my goodness, the cakes! Absolutely divine. I'll definitely be back for more of everything. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Lovely, lovely, freakin lovely! Googling things to do/places to see this was on the list. I can see why. AMBIANCE: Parking: There's street parking but also a parking structure as well. Seating: It's a large place but very popular. This place can house maybe 150 people with indoor and patio seating. Vibes: You're in an urban place in Sydney so lot of other restaurants, businesses, and apartments. The spot itself is huge. It's not just a restaurant but multiple restaurants and stores but also a mini farm and great photo op spots. The restaurant itself is pretty neat. Reminded me of a little historic museum in a farm. The alternative music was good background sounds. Great place for friends and family! FOOD: Eggs on Toast + Added Bacon (Recommend) Delicious! Soft scrambled eggs mixed with labneh (yogurt) for a nice creamy soft taste. Add some mushroom for an umami flavor, request bacon for that savory crunch and serve it together with a toasted bread. Enjoy! Immune Booster (Recommend) A healthy mix to start your day - green apple, cucumber, celery, kale, broccoli, & ginger. A good kick of ginger and green apple but still smooth. Deconstructed Hot Chocolate (Recommend) I never had anything like this! From the presentation - details to the melted chocolate on the cup, shaved chocolate, and cocoa powder. Mix it all together and you're truly in for a sweet delight! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Wonderful! Friendly people who were respectful and quick with the service TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. Amazing! Great selections, good prices, and a pleasant experience. As a tourist to Australia, this place left a positive impression of Australia. Great place to catch up, game plan, or just enjoy the hip ambiance of Australia. TIPS: * More than just a restaurant! Be sure to walk around and check out their lovely photo op spots.

Yelp
A fun place to have brunch. There is free parking but you have to enter from Huntley St. and you will see a small sign that directs you to drive through the alleyway to get to the Grounds parking lot around the front. We went for brunch around 10 at the cafe. There was no waiting as we sat outside. The cafe space was large inside as well the pancakes were good and the portion was decent. The smoked salmon crumpets were really good and the smoothies were very tasty. Would definitely return if I visit Sydney again. Would definitely recommend.

Leden N.

Yelp
Good food and nice band playing live music. The ambiance is very nice, lot of areas to take pictures.

Yelp
I love going to The Grounds. It is truly a unique experience. This morning we had about 90 minutes to waste before my flight, so we went to The Grounds for breakfast. Unfortunately, due to Covid, it seems there are limited offerings. Even with a much smaller menu, they were out of Potato Gems today. We had three orders of eggs your way on sourdough. Two of us had 1/2 avocado as a side. One ordered the polenta chips. We had one latte and one pot of English Breakfast tea. All was delicious!

Sneha S.

Yelp
The decor was amazing! There was a Disney themed event going on and it created a great vibe. We got brunch food and it hit the spot! Portion sizes were very big and we barely could finish our meal! It was crowded for a Tuesday morning which meant slower service.

Olivia S.

Yelp
A cute restaurant located in Alexandria that is the PERFECT shot for any of your IG photos. Coffee is truly on point & breakfast is smashing. My friend ordered the shakshuka & I ordered the big brekkie. This was one of the places on my list to visit when in Sydney & it did not disappoint!

Nathan B.

Yelp
Somewhat of an institution every Sydneysider has gone to explore the Grounds of Alexandria. Over the years it's become an Instagram haven for foodies, influencers and everything in between. It's popular for functions, weddings etc, as well as long Saturday brunches. Personally, it's the sort of place you can go once and need not visit again. The walkways become overcrowded with the aforementioned instagramers taking posing shots in front of EVERYTHING. As a result, it's a bit of a tourist trap. Food wise is good, but heavily inflated with their pricing. Coffee is excellent, and their sounrdough bread is awesome too- do try their olive bread if you can find it (with olive oil and dukkah). I get why people like it, but it's not my cup of tea Personally. It's too crowded, and a bit OTT.

Tomislav J.

Yelp
Nice place, on a weekend free parking, tasty food, not much alcohol selection, not expensive

Ariana K.

Yelp
I was skeptical at first because of the area its located in. We caught the train and had to walk through an industrial/auto body warehouse's area. But don't worry, the moment you get to the Grounds you will see how amazingly cute everything is! Whoever owns this, puts a lot of work into the decor. I was surprised to find out that they change it up every season too! That's extremely impressive. This is a beautiful spot to come check out (for free). They also have multiples eateries and cafes inside for you to order from. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The Grounds of Alexandria Cafe is literally the cutest. My best friend, who used to live in Melbourne, insisted my husband and I come here for breakfast! I ordered their classic "Our Avocado On Toast" and a Flat White. The Avocado Toast was alright, a bit on the bland side and nothing completely unique. However, the Flat White was delicious! Rich and creamy with smooth velvet foam! Overall, I think the food was decent, but the atmosphere of the cafe itself was so worth the visit! I was enamored by how charming this entire place was and would highly recommend a visit to any of my family/friends!

Yelp
This was my second favorite brunch spot while eating our way through Australia. My husband's brother-in-law picked this place out, and it did not disappoint. I loved the ambience and the set up of this location. It was super cute that it was a main cafe and then had cute little vendors set up around the main location. The grounds has a super cute set up. What I loved most was the super cute donut shop set up outside. After our breakfast, we went outside and watched them make the donuts fresh and ordered a few. They were the bomb.com! Super delicious! They stay busy but seem to get people in and out. We got there early so we didn't have to wait. For breakfast 2 of us ordered the Brekkie Bowls and the other 2 ordered the Brekkie Burger with Polenta Chips. The Brekkie Bowls consisted of herbed couscous with grilled vegetables, ricotta, scrambled eggs and mixed herbs. At first I didn't really like the bowl, but the more I ate the more I liked it. It was just extremely healthy but very yummy. Usually for breakfast I like more hearty meals. However, it was fresh and flavorful. The 2 that had the Brekkie Burgers enjoyed the burgers and said it was good. I had a bite of my husband's and it was good. The polenta chips were pretty good as well. I'm usually not a fan of polenta cakes but these were good. The other person who had the burger did not like the polenta fries. Lol. I also had the Piggy Piggy Shake. It's for kids but I love milkshakes and wanted to try it. Apparently this is their famous shake. In honour of Kevin "The Big Pig" Bacon, his legacy continues through the power of the shake. A strawberry milkshake topped with a donut, fresh strawberries and a pink piggy meringue! In all honesty, the shake wasn't anything special. It lacked flavor and could have been a little sweeter. My husband and I also had a small chocolate cake. It was pretty good. Overall, The Grounds Of Alexandria was a nice vibe and good spot for brunch! I really enjoyed my experience here and the food was yummy!

Yelp
This is one of the main places I wanted to visit on our trip to Australia. It is absolutely aesthetically beautiful and charming. The location has a market, food stands for lemonade, honey, and donuts. There is also a floral place on site with beautiful flowers and bath salts, and other goods. There are plenty of places for photos as well as a stop with a pig and chickens. Some other stops are sandwiches, juices, cocktails but also features two places to eat one for breakfast or brunch and then lunch as well. Absolutely loved it here and it's in a cute little town that also is great to adventure in.

Yelp
This is the first place I bookmarked in Australia, even before I bought my ticket. It's the hot spot when it comes to instagram worthy photos. It's absolutely stunning here, so many photo ops all around. We went on the weekend and it was completely packed with people. You literally have to stalk a table and wait there until they're done and just snatch it. CRISPY FREE-RANGE PORK KATSU SANDWICH- with iceberg lettuce, pickled fennel and spicy sesame mayo There was nothing special about this sandwich. It was bland and lacking flavor. The chicken was nice and crispy, but the meat itself was too drying. I needed more flavors and spices. I didn't like it at all. BBQ PORK SHOULDER RYE BUN- shredded, with fennel, kohlrabi and jalapeño salad The barbecue was weak. It was sweet, but not rich in flavor. The shredded pork was tender, but it was a pretty simple dish overall. RED VELVET CAKE This cake looked stunning, but it was a bit too sweet for my liking. The vanilla cream cheese frosting was sweet and rich, which balanced well with the cake itself, but it could've used less sugar. The cake was moist and soft and the red velvet flavor tasted great with the fresh fruits. ROYAL CAKE I wasn't a huge fan of this cake because it was too dry. My mouth was welding together as I was chewing. Flavorwise, it was rich in chocolate and too sweet. Overall, aesthetically pleasing, but the food is just okay or subpar. I'm sure I'll be back for photos and maybe pastries. I'll just have to think about the food before I actually order something.

Davo C.

Yelp
Expensive, super loud. Extremely difficult to find parking. Too many kids shouting and running around as if they were in a park. Lots of ridiculous rules and restrictions posted all around.

Christine S.

Yelp
Now I understand what all the hype is about... I love this place! I dined here for lunch on a weekday with some friends, and it wasn't too crazy busy. The decor outside all the way to the inside was very rustic, which I love! The food was also delicious & they have ample options. I definitely want to come back, especially when they have different themes on display

Mariel C.

Yelp
It's so cute here!! Totally recommend coming here for brunch date or with friends. If the wait is long there is plenty to look at and explore. We had a 20 minute wait and were starving so we got some donuts, i highly recommend the raspberry donut! Bring a date and buy them a rainbow flower

Eva R.

Yelp
A wonderful place to come on the weekends! My friend and I came on a Saturday around midday. After putting our name down for the Cafe, we walked around the markets. The wait went by pretty quickly as during the weekend there are a lot of stalls selling a variety of things. It was hard to pass by the beautiful pastries, but we wanted to save room for lunch. Once we got seated, I ordered the deconstructed mocha and the lamb baguette. My friend had the brekkie burger. The deconstructed mocha was delicious as the mug was filled with a heap of melted chocolate. Then, there was a beaker of steamed milk and a small beaker of a shot of espresso. It was fun to make and so rich! The smoked lamb baguette was stuffed with lamb, topped with fresh veggies, and was plated on a creamy sauce. My friend enjoyed the brekkie burger, but was disappointed that there was no actual beef patty on the sandwich. Also, the polenta fries were unique but a little too thick. Overall, the grounds of alexandria are a must visit for anyone coming to Sydney. The atmosphere makes the meal so much more enjoyable. Highly recommend and will be back to try their pastries.

Kaycee O.

Yelp
Wow this place is amazing! It's beautifully filled with greenery with plenty of places to enjoy and take photos. We were at the Potting Shed, a full service restaurant within it on the left side of you're facing the grounds from the parking lot. There are other places you can pick up your food (different menus) and eat within the whole area. We had the Tuna Tostadas, Cauliflower Beignets, Squash (zucchini), Large plate of Mussels and Pork Buns. I'd say it was enough to share between four of us but we came straight from a 10 hour flight and definitely could have ate more. I had fun exploring and seeing the bird resident while dining and visiting Harry Trotter (the pig). Their flower shop is also insanely impressive and I wish buying flowers made sense but I'm not staying in Sydney long. I will be back to try the other places for sure! This place is awesome.

Amanda K.

Yelp
After lusting over this place for weeks, I finally made it here myself. I purposefully made my first trip on a Monday morning, I arrived before 10AM. I was VERY happy as I was leaving that I came this early, as it was getting busier by the second. As mentioned in other reviews, this is a fabulous spot for photos. Loads of beautiful plants, secret-garden vibes, and lots of different stalls selling assorted goods - my favorite was the flower market. I just got a coffee in my keep cup, as I'd come alone mainly to scout it out. The coffee was good, and it was less than $4 for an almond milk flat white - maybe they give discounts for using your own cup? The place is really beautiful, and there is a "petting zoo" (I am not sure if you can actually pet the animals, they were just sitting in a cage while I was there) including a super big pig named Kevin Bacon. I plan to come back some weekend to try out the food at the restaurant with my boyfriend. It was pretty busy by the time I was leaving, so I'm assuming the weekends are probably completely insane - I recommend arriving as early as you can!

Sam C.

Yelp
I heard raving reviews about this place prior to my trip to Sydney, and I'm pleased to say that they were all spot on. Built within an old factory, the Grounds is full of lush greenery/flowers with great lighting for aspiring instamodels (there were a lot of them). They even have a petting zoo with a little piglet named Harry Trotter. LOL If you're not in it for the likes/subscribers, this is also easily one of the most aesthetically pleasing places to grab a bite to eat or have a cup of coffee with a friend/date. For food, I got the Grounds Big Brekke: Chorizo serano ham, white beans, sausage, avocado toast, poached egg, and baby peppers. My stomach was so happy. Also, got their cold drip coffee which comes in a whimsical erlenmeyer flask. Make sure you leave plenty of room for dessert part. We got the lemon meringue tart (yummy) and mint chocolate cheesecake (not as good). Overall, great atmosphere, amazing food/dessert, and plenty of different shops/booths to spend a few hours on the weekend. Would highly recommend for visitors and locals alike!

Blessie V.

Yelp
Okay, this is SO worth it. I came here for one of their dessert nights when the Willy Wonka display was up. Admission was $10 and proceeds went to Nutrition for Schoolchildren. I got in at 7 pm, and boy was it PACKED. I walked into an alleyway that whisked you away to Willy Wonka's world. Not kidding-- I felt like I was in the movie. So many photo-ops and friendly people to take your pictures for you too. The smores, hot cocoa, and chocolate fondue offerings they had were overpriced but expected for a special event. Veering away from the main alleyway was an open-air tent covered by string lights. Under it was a water fountain. Adjacent to it was an open-air greenhouse adorned with winter lights, and across from that was a mini zoo with the cutest pig! The Grounds has amazing coffee too. So good that it supplies coffee for other brunch places in NSW. Definitely will be back during my next visit to Sydney for brunch.

David S.

Yelp
I found out about this place from a customer that had a little accident here. Apparently this place is a Sydney institution, but since I don't live in Sydney I had no idea that it existed, until he told me about it. Well, the number of reviews of the place certainly tell me a lot about it. At first I though it was a coffee shop, but it is much, much more than that. In fact it is an entire market where you can also do coffee (or tea if that happens to be your thing). The gardens are an absolute delight to simply wander around, and this place has a magic that is indescribable, and certainly the short amount of time I spent here didn't do it justice.

Monica L.

Yelp
Beautiful location--I wanted to take a picture of everything! The desserts looked delicious, the toast was spectacular, and their deconstructed coffees are unique. Even their restroom was all decked out like the farm! I now see why this place is listed in almost every single one of the travel blogs for Sydney. They have a flower shop, a bakery, a couple cafes, plenty of outdoor seating, outdoor goodies/drinks...and greenery that covers almost every part of it! Wonderful place--I'd definitely come here again!

Mary A.

Yelp
Went here again recently for the bfs birthday. You can seriously never go wrong with their cakes/desserts. We shared the red velvet cake and the lemon meringue tart with Brazilian coffee. So yum. It was a great way to end our lunch at The Potting Shed. The atmosphere of this place never disappoints. The customer service was great even when they were busy. It's a great place to hang out with friends especially if you love good food and good company and photo ops! Tip: If you want to have the full experience of The Grounds in all of its beauty I suggest going there for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon drinks/dessert/coffee - so you can see the beautiful gardens, the farm animals. If you want to just go for the food without so much rush, I'd go for dinner instead.

Jak Leroy D.

Yelp
The Grounds of Alexandria is a beautiful eatery in Sydney. Built in an old factory, the grounds consist of The Cafe, The Potting Shed, The Garden, The Bakery, a coffee roastery, and a petting zoo. We came here for breakfast a couple weeks ago and just loved everything about this place. The food is farm-to-table fresh and the atmosphere is amazing. For breakfast we shared the Buckwheat, Teff, and Kefir Pancakes (with ricotta, lemon, and fresh berries) and the Free Range Three Egg Omelette (with field mushrooms, asparagus, peas, and dill creme) - both dishes were delicious. My husband had a Colombian cold brewed coffee and I had the Veggie fresh squeezed juice (red apple, carrot, beetroot, lemon, and ginger) - again, both were delicious! If you live in Sydney, or if you're visiting, and have yet to experience The Grounds of Alexandria, be sure to do so. It sure is a one-of-a-kind place!

Sher V.

Yelp
Came here my last day in Australia and was bummed to have not discovered this place sooner! It was exactly what I was looking for in a restaurant and the presentation of the drinks and atmosphere. Went here for lunch and just loved walking around the garden. My lunch was lovely, I had chips and rose drink, I don't recall the name of my drink, but it was so well presented.

Carly Q.

Yelp
If you go to Sydney, you must venture to the Grounds! The Grounds is a lush, well-kept area in Alexandria full of multiple eateries and cafes within its space. There's lots of lighting and greenery all throughout, and tons of areas for photo ops. Food wise: I've only been into the main cafe, but their takeaway menu is more plentiful than their sit-down. I always get the avo toast with a fresh juice and a side. Last time I was in Sydney me and a friend shared one of their baked items - they're really rich but are just about as tasty as they look. I love eating outside and I love eating somewhere that serves as a workspace, The Grounds does both. I've been told The Grounds was made as part of Sydney's thriving mafia plot. I've heard many-a-stories about how this cake about, but if you dig deep enough you'll learn some interesting facts. The Low Down: Food is good, wifi is not. Space is ample and customer service is good. You can spend hours hanging in all the different booths and sections of the space. Definitely check this place out often, they hold events and add different attractions and pop-ups depending on the season. Check out my pictures to see our experience, it really is beautiful!

Kel P.

Yelp
I must say, this is one of the most overrated cafes in eastern Sydney, and I like it! With its own farm, and organic food store. Located within an abandoned factory house; the grounds is one of the most classy Cafes you can be! From saying hi to Bacon (the on farm pig), to having a slice of organic bacon (obviously not the pig); the Grounds have you covered! The average wait time is 40-50minutes. To make sure you don't just walk and are looked after. There is often some dessert or snacks stalls right outside, and one can always roam around the organic super market. They do give you a buzzer so don't you worry you will miss their call! I quite like their coffee. For those who has read some of my reviews, you will know I'm big on coffee. The grounds, while it is not the best; they do try and have their own in house roast and blend which is great. I had it there a few times but didn't fine it special. However if I make it myself at home, I realised it tastes slightly better. No idea why.

Yelp
Came here for brunch during my recent trip to Sydney after having researched good places to eat. We decided to go here for a big meal before our Coogee to Bondi Beach coastal walk. First off, the place was super cozy and hipster! It even has a potting shed, petting zoo, garden, bakery, and so on. You could spend an hour or so just looking around and exploring the area outside. Definitely check out the grounds, and not just the cafe if you have a bit of time to spare. As for the food, it was great. And BIG! I ordered "The Grounds Big Brekkie" ($24). This had spiced chorizo sausage and ham, white beans, cherry tomatoes, a poached egg (that was perfectly cooked), pork cracklings (not very good), piquillo, halloumi, grilled baby peppers, avocado, and toast with hollandaise sauce. Yep, that was definitely a big breakfast. The avocado was amazing, as was the perfectly poached egg! The chorizo sausage was also very yummy. The only bad thing was the pork cracklings -- they were just so tough and not even crispy anymore! Oh well, they were just minor elements of the whole dish. My sister got the "Brekkie Burger" ($21). Inside, it had bacon, a fried egg, avocado, lettuce, cheese, tomato relish, and smokey mayo... yum. It was also on a brioche bun which was quite good. On the other hand, the side of polenta chips were meh and we hardly touched them. Not to forget, their seasonal blend of coffee was so good (and pretty)! I got a Flat White and I didn't even need to add anything to it. It was already perfect for me and not too sweet. Fun place to hang out at (check out Kevin Bacon, their pig)! I can see why it gets so busy during peak hours. Thankfully, we were there on a weekday morning and we didn't have to wait at all for a table. You probably have to make a reservation if you plan to be there on the weekend.

Yelp
OF course my wife found this place. It's totally girly. This old factory is now the home of one of the most beautiful, family friendly welcoming spots I have ever been to. This place is a farmer's market meets foodie heaven gastronomy chic place to be seen. Fresh flowers and planters, with donuts for sale as you wait in line to get your brunch. I don't know who came up with the idea of this place. He is genius. If you are coming to Sydney, this place is more important to visit than the Opera House. Yes, it is true. If you come, come early on a Sunday or wait, wait, wait. Best time to come is weekdays. Beautiful memories - this place is representative of what makes Sydney the best city in the world. t

Yelp
A pleasant rainy morning breakfast at The Grounds of Alexandria. Large latte was well made. Enjoyed the free-range egg omelette with a side of smoked salmon - delicious.

Libby A.

Yelp
We first went to the cafe to eat and it was an adorable place. I ordered the grounds big brekkie. It was such a beautifully plated dish. It was very good, and there were so many different tastes and textures to keep the palette entertained. Service was good, but not as prompt as I've seen at many other places I've been to - I'm from the US so i'm not sure if things are different in Australia so maybe this is normal. Overall it was a pleasant experience. We ordered coffee to go from the counter following our meal and wandered around until they were ready. I didn't realize there was so much more to this place! We were there early December so the grounds were decked out for Christmas and it was absolutely gorgeous. It's a wonderful place, I would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Budget plenty of time to explore and take pictures! It is so pretty but be ready for lots of instagramming by all. The place is busy so go early. There are many options for food. We went for breakfast and coffee. The coffee was good we ordered the coffee experience for two which was plenty (2 shots of espresso and a french press). The muffins are great and you should at least order one to go. The portions are pretty good. The polenta fritters were a great addition. All the selections were good but nothing too memorable - needed a little more flavor.

Yelp
I can no longer deal with the crush of humanity on the weekends and the fact that there is absolutely nowhere to park. The last few times we have tried to come here, we have left because it was simply too crowded. That said, when I have the time to walk over here, mid-week, and I am not fussed about getting a table and am happy to just grab a takeaway coffee, I still like this place. Sadly, The Grounds is a victim of its own success. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to see their business doing so well, it just bums me out that I am probably never going to be able to sit down at a table inside and eat breakfast here ever again.

Yelp
When I started going to cafes and restaurants in Australia, I noticed that a lot of them love to incorporate some greenery in their interior design. Then an amazing friend of mine brought me here. The Grounds of Alexandria is a LIVING INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT. I spent the New Year in Sydney and everywhere was closed, even here for a bit. That's why it took me such a long time! Turns out it was a bit of a walks away from our apartment in Zetland. I saw a few of my friends going and getting these super cute photos and knew I needed to get in on that. At first I didn't have an expectation of it. I thought it was JUST A CAFE but boy was I wrong. Walking through, depending on what side of course, there's an arch with a lighted "The Ground" or just an open walkway where you're immediately engulfed into cuteness. It's like a farmers market back home but more amplified. Stone walls, potted plants, EVERYWHERE, on the ground, on the staircases, hanging from the ceiling it's everywhere. There's a couple of places to sit in and grab some food. In the center there's a high tea place where you can grab a group of people and enjoy some, I bet, quality tea, bites and sweets. We ate at this take away spot with salads, burgers and wraps... Everywhere else was a bit busy and over priced for our appetite. Like everywhere else, you stand in line, order, they give you a buzzer and you go and find a seat. Over run with what felt like tourists or maybe locals, couldn't tell. Sydney is SO DIVERSE! Once your buzzer goes off you can pick it up at the counter that also has a variety of sauces to choose from and grab your eco friendly eating utensils! Possible other cutest thing they have here is Kevin... Kevin Bacon... This pig they have just living on the grounds among his other friends. He is a big pig and is very cute. I wonder how old he is.

Yelp
I came in on the weekend and the BBQ place outside had run out of many things. I returned a few days later and ordered from the take out counter inside and it was just as delicious as I remember it being. We sat outside in the beautiful grounds and enjoyed our food and fantastic coffee and juice. Kevin bacon the pig and the chickens really add to the atmosphere. It's quite enchanting

Yelp
Beautiful location. Service was a bit slow, however the food was good. Very fresh though a bit overpriced.

Yelp
- A beautiful place where you can take heaps of lovely photos as they always have lovely decoration. - A variety of foods & drinks to choose in the menu. - Suitable for family as there is petting zoo for kids as well. - They have plenty of car parking spaces too.

Yelp
The rumors are true. This place screams hipster. It might take you a ways drive from Sydney or couple train stops to get here but this place is worth seeing. There are tons of people that come to check this place out. It gets busy by midday. Everywhere you go, you're surrounding by greenery. They even have a flower shop with all natural cotton on shrubs for sale. Nearest to the restaurants, you'll also find small wooden stalls. Each stall being different. One stall may have all kinds of nuts for sale, and the other has deserts. You really have to come here on an empty stomach because you're going to want to try everything! It's even great for the kids.

Yelp
What a great place to entertain! The service is prompt, the atmosphere is lush and cosy, and the food is delicious. If you want a table on the weekends I'd recommend reserving a spot beforehand or risk waiting close to an hour on a list. Waiting isn't a big deal as the grounds at Alexandria is a beautiful place to visit. Restaurants, food carts, a marketplace, and even a small collective of barnyard animals are engulfed in a lush garden of hanging plants, potted plants and flowers that make for a mystical and refreshing atmosphere. We reserved for a large group - 10 people - and was asked for a 10% surcharge. All around the meals were fresh and exciting, but a bit on the pricey side. A bagel with hollandaise, salmon, and a poached egg will set you back about $17 - completely worth it for the amazing service and tasteful ingredients. If you're looking for something different with an intimate scene, I would definitely recommend The Grounds for breakfast.

Yelp
This is where hipsters are born... Or go to die happy. The space is beautiful, although pretty sweltering sometimes with no AC, and the animals (chickens, pig etc) are cute and all, but are surely miserable in their tiny pen in that heat. They seem like an unnecessary novelty. The food is great, and rounds out nicely with the space... Avocado toast, gluten free stuff, deconstructed coffees, bakery out front etc. The hostess was largely useless and very rude, but the rest of the staff (although confusing cuz you'll wind up with six of them stopping by your table) are nice, and quick. All in all a really cool place, with great (and typical) hispter fare. Just far too crowded, and a bit chaotic for a relaxed experience of any kind.

Yelp
Discovered this gem via Yelp. You can make a half day out of this trip...perfect for a lazy weekend brunch..sitting out in the bright sun with so many food choices and basking in some happy relaxed vibes. The farm animals, little carts selling irresistible desserts..there's something for everyone here. Tried the Smashed Avacado and hubby has the steak sandwich, din't disappoint. We got some desserts and finished them off at a park.. Want to come back with a group of friends!:)

Yelp
It's recommended by a local friend. It's surprisingly fresh and cool! Had a rose lemonade before the meal and walking Round in the yard. Very chilling and relaxing! Highly recommend the avocado toast with smoked salmon. Love the sourdough toast the most. And a great selection of deserts.

Yelp
I made reservations for the Potting Shed at night for dinner and it was definitely a wonderful experience. This place is GORGEOUS with unique, surprising foods and drinks that tasted amazing. The staff was also super sweet. Everything about this place was absolutely perfect.

Yelp
Heavy rain and giant puddles didn't stop us from popping into this excellent place. This is somewhere we will be coming back for sure!! Ok. The review... Food: Great! We had the schnitzel burgers (to with I added bacon) and I'm still full 6 hours later. To me, that's a good feeling. Service: Fantastic! We didn't have to wait much at all. The waiters were very friendly and funny. One of which recommended us one of the smoothies and it was spot on. Another one recommended us some venues to check out in Sydney for live music too. Like I said, super friendly service! We read there is a farm of some sort... I want to meet Kevin Bacon so I'll be sure to do so next time (hope there is no rain then)

Yelp
Walk in and gasp. This place is really worth visiting. Such a relief from its surrounding area. And I love the mini zoo and Kevin Bacon the pig. No really

Yelp
Such a cute place for brunch. I must warn you that parking is basically nonexistent, but don't worry you can find parking on the street just know you might have to walk a little distance to get to this place (depending on how busy it is). I came here last Saturday for brunch with my cousins before I fly back to California and I was so glad I was able to come here before I left. This place is Instagram heaven because not only does the food looks good, it taste good too. I don't understand why people complain about the wait because it honestly is not that bad. But if you are those people who doesn't like to wait there is a section on the other side that has food to-go and just grab an open table outside under the shades. However, if you can bare an estimated of half an hour or a little longer for a table, which I suggest you should, you can just stroll around the place for a little while to kill time. There are mini shops to go into like the flower shop or go check out the mini petting zoo. If you are starving there are lemonade and dessert stands around the area too. **I want to do note that the menu changes ever so often so what you see on here they might not have it at the time you go. What we ordered: - The Brekkie Board ($22): I like varieties and this really gives me samples of everything I like on one huge plate. I think it is perfect as a sharing plate for (2-3 people, depending on how hungry you are). The poach eggs were perfectly cooked and they don't get stingy with the avocado. - Chef's Brekkie Pan ($19): Very flavorful. - Three cheese omellete ($16): I didn't get to try this but I think it must have been good because it didn't take long for my cousin to finished that. Overall, it was a perfect spot for brunch. I would come back here to eat when I do visit Sydney again.
