The Donovan

Although this is a beautiful complex with excellent amenities and a great location, the new management team is clearly dropping the ball. We often visit friends who have lived there for 3 years or so now, and the down-turn in overall appearance/appeal, cleanliness, and general upkeep is obvious. The elevators, for one, get little to no attention, and the entry floors are also not getting cleaned. These areas are vital for a complex's first impression, and it makes one wonder: if these simple tasks are not carefully regulated by management, what else are they neglecting? Importantly, these observations mark a noticeable difference between management companies in charge.

When my boyfriend and I moved in in July, Northpoint management was still the management for The Donovan. A few months later, Sherman took over, and let me say we couldn't move out any faster. We have had maintenance let themselves in our apartment after a no entry was put on the maintenance request (they didn't knock or call, just walked in). The management team is passive-aggressive and acts like your complaints and concerns are just a burden to them, this being said while I was sitting in the office putting in our move-out notice to break our lease the leasing agent had her vape out on the desk, and then got a message from another employee saying how I am the one that always complains about stuff, I sadly couldn't read the entire message before the pop up disappeared but talking about a resident while they are sitting in the chair is EXTREMLY unprofessional. Along with the management, the property is not what it used to be, it's not up-kept even half the way Northpoint kept it. Such a shame this property went downhill we were so excited to move in and then a few months later we were ready to leave. Also If you are thinking about moving in just know there are 0 cameras in the parking lot so when there was an attempt made to steal my boyfriends bike we had nothing to see who it could have been and the management had no care in the world not even a "I'm sorry that happened"

If you are looking for an upscale, luxury apartment home, take a tour of The Donovan with one of their superb staff before making a decision. The community areas are beautiful and plentiful. They have not left one stone unturned. So many amenities you won’t know what to do first. The maintenance staff is relentless in keeping the property clean and issue free. So many choices for your apartment size and design you are sure to find the perfect one for you. They also make every effort to host events that actually encourages you to meet your neighbors. Take a tour and you won’t want to leave😍

I lived at the Donovan for less than a year before moving out of the area, loved their options for various lease lengths. The staff really paid attention to details (touching up paint in hallways, keeping things tidy, etc.), and it shows that they have full-time housekeeping on staff! Maintenance was out salting the sidewalks even after 8pm in negative temperatures in the winter and hosing off the pool deck and resetting patio furniture (that residents and guests had moved) every morning in the spring/summer. My unit had a smaller bedroom closet than I was used to, but I also rented an attached garage for convenience and extra safety for my car, which had plenty of additional space for storage. This is a pet-friendly community, and it seemed many households increasingly had 2 dogs. Given that it’s a larger apartment community, the amount of people around does increase your chances of dealing with a few who do not know how to be good neighbors/humans, but if you brought something to the office’s attention, they tried their best to remedy the situation. If I could change one thing, I wish the windows were thicker/more soundproof as there were some dogs who liked to be vocal earlier than I would have liked to wake up (courtyard-side).

Toni is by far the BEST leasing agent I’ve EVER experienced. She went above and beyond finding me my perfect home. This community is like no other place. Perfection and stunning are the two words to describe The Donovan! You‘ll fall in love with everything it has to offer.

I've now lived here for a little under a year- when we started living here it was under a previous manager who was AWESOME. That manager has since left and everything went downhill for me and my family exponentially. Everytime I call they act as though I am a burden to speak to and get information for- they consistently have issues with keeping strangers out of the pool and the number of guests to a minimum and make it everyone's burden and punishment with nasty emails. We pay for valet trash service here and they repeatedly have left rude messages on our door saying the trash is too heavy so they can't roll it out on their cart. We paid a premium price to be at this apartment complex and are consistently treated like absolute trash, not only by the staff but they have allowed what I would think to be nothing short of kids living in trap houses to move in. Our neighbors brand new corvette was stolen the first night he moved in here. At the end of the day this place has turned into such a horrible place to be we felt forced out of our home and bought a place that would be safer for our family. 0/10 would never pay a dime to stay here another moment it is absolutely not worth the trouble they put on you. edit: after posting this very honest review I was promptly called by the property manager who took my review extremely personally- to her credit she's right to criticize me in saying that crime is not her fault, or the lack of 3rd party performance for services that go through them and I have to pay for on my utilities statement through their rental portal. It felt more to me like a deflection of responsibility as after the conversation was over none of what made me upset or to feel unsafe was addressed more of "it's not my fault why did you blame it on me?" It was also followed by calling my co workers mom to let them know that my behavior and presence and this review was bad behavior in their eyes, the days that followed I had negative comments and hostile behaviorat my place of work from two employees because of me sharing my experience. I wished it was more of a productive conversation so others don't feel the same way I do about this place and I wish I did not feel harassed at my place or employment because of my experience here- because I used to be so proud to live here and bring my son everywhere with me and use the amenities here. Now I don't, I feel scared to speak out now about the things that have made me feel forced to move me and my family out of my home and it makes me so sad that it is this way. When I signed my lease I was more than happy to stay for the whole period of time now I've had to pay 4500 to break my lease and feel my family is safe and more importantly welcome in my own home elsewhere.

I’ve lived here for 3 years (this is the last year). There are great things about this place like the pool and amenities, it’s a beautiful design. The only big negatives that brought it down to a three star for me is that I have not had a great experience with most office staff on multiple occasions. Also, some neighbors aren’t very neighborly like I was used to in my hometown or in more family-oriented neighborhoods where my family lives, you can knock and ask a simple question about something without a negative reaction. Ironically, the Donovan has meet and greets for the residents throughout the year which is nice because you meet genuinely nice people at those. Also, the paper thin walls; for my one bedroom, for paying more than the average mortgage payment in MO (which the average is $1,316) I’d hoped to be in a better built establishment where you can’t hear the person next door sneezing let alone throwing a raging party with screaming and cursing. If you can handle all the weird, negative things I listed then I would recommend this place. It has a lot of potential and I’m grateful to live in a decent place and have a roof over my head. I’m sure they will reply to this with a message saying they are sorry I’ve experienced this and to call the office with concerns. But, honestly I feel like they usually gaslight me and make me feel like the crazy one for anything I come to them about regarding my housing or lease agreement so I will be keeping to myself. That part really is unfortunate because they should be nicer to the customers who pay an arm and a leg to live here. Of course, this is just my personal and honest experience. Like I said there is room for improvement, this place has potential to be something really wonderful.

We have lived here for 6 months. Our biggest issue is SAFETY! Our car has been broken into twice and there have been multiple other reports of car breakins AND THEY REFUSE TO INSTALL CAMERAS! They have cameras in the courtyard to ensure SOME tenants are following rules, but not the parking lot to ensure safety. The rent for a 1 bed 1 bath apartment is too high to not have cameras to keep their tenants safe. We have been told BY MANAGEMENT to close our blinds shortly after we moved in because it looked like our apartment was "full of trash" as we were still unpacking. Neighbors are loud and ignore complaints. They put nauseating air freshers in every single area they can find. Cell service is horrible no matter where you go. The amenities are nice if you have time to use them (we never did because of the price of the apartment). Gabby (a staff member) is about the only good thing about this place.

Wow! We pulled up after dark and witnessed the impressive lights of the Donovan's signs guiding us home. We had a reservation in the guest suite, arranged by friends who live here. What an amazing community! Gabby greeted us with a bright smile, and showed us the amenities and personality escorted us in (after hours). She said how much she loved working at the community. It's so refreshing to meet people who love their work. The quality of every detail is FIVE star! too many things to list! Thanks Pam, and everyone who has created this beautiful sanctuary we got to call home. As a Yelper, there are times when it's an obligation to the Yelp community to give fives Stars to a business, this is one of those posts! I highly recommend the Donovan Apartments

I am new to The Donovan so still exploring and experiencing all it has to offer but at first pass I am truly pleased. Moving across country is stressful and Sabrina from the Staff has made my leasing and newcomer experience very easy, pleasant and welcoming. She has been essential to me having a great experience here. She is a gem! I also want to shout out to Alex who has handled some of the apartment hiccups - he is terrific!

The Donovan is amazing! We just moved in & we love it. The staff is so kind and made our move in process a breeze. The amenities are amazing, everything is clean, and our apartment alone is just perfect.
