The 404 Hotel offers chic, spacious rooms and a trendy restaurant/bar in a reimagined shipping container, nestled in Nashville's vibrant Gulch.
"Built in a former auto garage in Nashville’s Gulch neighborhood, this five-room boutique hotel replaces industrial vibes with low-key sophistication:The whitewashed rooms—some with loft-style living spaces—feature high ceilings, custom furniture, and high-end amenities like Sferra linens and Turkish cotton robes, and the subway-tiled baths gleam with vintage taps. There is no front desk, but guests receive a passcode for the entry keypad before arrival, and a concierge service is always on call. Have some down time? A comfortablesitting area is set up with board games and a large sideboard stocked with complimentary refreshments and coffee throughout the day, which makes the 404 the perfect spot for urban explorers who like to come and go as they please. But don’t miss dinner at the 404 Kitchen. Housed in a shipping container and accessed through another keycode doorway, it’s one of the city’s top restaurants."

"In a former mechanic’s garage in the Gulch neighborhood, this five-room gem revolves around Southern hospitality. The vibe—super comfortable but not overbearing as there’s no formal concierge or room service—is more like a well-appointed guest house rather than a traditional hotel. The rooms (some have spiral staircases leading to additional loft spaces) are decked out in Sferra linens, Malin + Goetz toiletries, and Turkish towels; the communal lounge area features vintage furniture and work from local artists. Sister restaurant the 404 Kitchen is just across the street."
"How did it strike you on arrival?Billed as an urban hideaway, 404 is both unassuming and private, with no central lobby or public spaces. Nice. What’s the crowd like? You'll rarely see other guests, which makes you wonder just how famous they are. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. Each of the five rooms, while on the smaller side, has its own fun quirks and touches. Local photographer Caroline Allison's mark is in each room, and a Nashville craftsman built each of the beds. The King Suite with Loft is a personal favorite because who doesn't love having their own en-suite spiral staircase? How about the little things, like minibar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? One of our favorite minibar finds is beer by Jackalope, Nashville's first (and only) women-owned brewery, located just down the street. #GirlPower Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Barn doors on rails slide to reveal a chic bathroom with Malin + Goetz toiletries. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is free and reliable. Room service: Worth it?You can't order to your room, but the hotel's dining outlet, the 404 Kitchen, is located across the street. The James Beard-nominated restaurant, helmed by chef Matt Bolus, also has a downstairs whiskey bar called Gertie’s. Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why? There's no staff, just an invisible concierge on call at all times. In lieu of check-in, you pick a key-pad entry code, which is used to access your room at the time of your choosing. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The 404's central locale in the heart of the Gulch makes it desirable for those who want to be in the thick of things. Bottom line: worth it, and why?For those who like the utmost privacy, the 404 is the only choice for you." - Kristin Luna
"The 404 Whiskey Society in Nashville, TN Chef Matt Bolus of The 404 Kitchen is known for award-winning food that infuses traditional European techniques with local, southern flavors. He has curated one of Nashville's most enviable whiskey lists, and you can easily drop $300 on a single glass on a regular night out. But for his hand-picked barrel selections, you’ve got to join his 404 Whiskey Society. Membership, available to anyone, requires you purchase at least four bottles per year to store in your own private locker at the bar. The private parties, intimate dinners, distiller meet-and-greets, and private tastings of Bolus’ personal barrels are other benefits."
