"A Soak in History The Maremma region of southern Tuscany, about an hour south of Siena, is an area of olive groves, wooded valleys, and ancient legends. One such tale, dating from the days of the Etruscans and Romans, chronicles an epic battle in which Jupiter threw lightning bolts at Saturn—and missed. As the story goes, when the bolts landed on the ground, they formed the bubbling hot springs now known as the Terme di Saturnia. Full of therapeutic minerals, the hot springs feed a variety of pools throughout the valley that have warmed and healed centuries of bathers. Today, you can soak up the goodness at the luxury Terme di Saturnia Hotel & Spa, which offers therapies performed with the waters, or at a free public bathing spot. To find the main one, head down a dirt path just outside of town, past a parking lot and changing area, until you spy a waterfall feeding a series of natural pools, each turned white by the mineral-rich water."

The water is very cold. Tuscany has some of the absolute best hot springs I’ve been to, but I can tell you, regrettably, that these aren’t one of them. I found the general cleanliness of the pools to be quite lacking, and the water temperature is the lowest of the 10+ hot springs I’ve been to in Tuscany. This is a real shame because this place could be much better. It’s got the potential to be n1, but has a long way to get there. Without doing much research, the owners should simply see what the competition has to offer to improve Terme di Saturnia. Some general things the staff should provide: - indication that there are only outdoor pools - soap, shampoo and conditioner should be provided in the shower rooms - towels for showering (they’ll give you one for the sun loungers, a robe for walking outside, but what are customers supposed to use to shower? you can’t ask people to buy 3 separate towels). - food selection: very poor, almost non existent vegetarian and gluten free options at the café near the pools - tea, water or infusions should be provided for free (see competitors) Only positive is the price (€14 if you are a resident is rather competitive). But as they say… you get what you pay.

My husband and I were disappointed with our experience here. The website is a false representation & shows it to be upmarket and much nicer but in reality the pools didn’t feel well maintained & some were very dirty. Way over priced for the experience. We were in the sauna & were told to leave due to a “ritual” that you had to pay to attend. Why is this not included in the high price? Very strange. The free public baths 5 minutes away are much nicer!! For some reason the photo of the free ones are used here and it’s incorrect.

This is not for kids imo. There are very limited pools for kids to go in. My youngest was so mad she wasn’t allowed in the ones she wanted to go in . I would say this is more for adults. And we saw worms 🪱 in one of the pools … they said the worms were normal… but they honestly look really gross … The place looks like it has never been updated Like the tiles and stones look chipped and old and slimy like they don’t ever clean the place really. Maybe for some this is part of the charm but for us it felt really dirty. I have been to way nicer thermal places that have left me feeling relaxed and clean. This place sadly did not .

Great thermal station offering diverse services and great facilities. There is a parking available which is really accommodating. You can rent a towel and robe. Everything is clean and you can enjoy different types of pools (even a sauna). To eat, there is either a cafeteria or bistrots offering ice creams, cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks. The place is very spacious and there are lots of sunbeds both in shade and in sunny areas to tan. We recommend coming as early as possible since it gets crowded in the afternoon.

Google
rather disappointing overall. feels a bit like a public pool location rather than a high end spa destination. not the cleanest and not the most top-notch service. we expected far more from all the buzz you hear about this place.......montacatini up north is far superior and worth the extra money........i also recommend a visit during the winter and not when the temp is 100 degrees farenheit, not that refreshing to say the least. get it together guys!

We went to both the natural one and this hotel one. We were hoping for no red worms here but there were still a few here. just try not to look and you will be fine. The sedaments are actually magic algae so that was nice. Overall it was very pleasant, the temperature is perfect, the weather is nice, the facility is clean, the food is actually very good. We had the hot lunch, the pesto rigatoni was amazing and the veal was also very enjoyable. We had tons of coffee here including an espresso, a cappuccino and a few shaketeros. Food prices are very reasonable. Everything was very pleasant. The kids pool is nice and the kids could go to the mushroom pool as well. The entrance is 26€ + bathrobe and towel rental for 6€. Easy parking. What a fun time!

Do not come here. It is out of the way and not worth the time. It is about 30 Euro per person including towel and robe rental (required as part of a strict dress code? Unenforced). They let me order a sandwich they were out of and I had to take the receipt to the sandwich bar separate from the register. Service culture zero. But, sure. It's fed by a hot spring.

To begin with there are a few areas here with similar names, make sure you know what you want (not this place). If you want a spa come here, but it is 30 euros, towel, robe and chair not included! And they have a “strict” dress code which said it has to be white towels and robe only. We saw persons not complying and nothing happened. The water is a nice temperature, but if you are squeamish there are tiny worm and slime floating in the water. The bistro serves sandwiches which are low quality (see picture of gross lettuce). Minimal insect control in seating areas. Overall, it’s not worth it.
