Taverna Tony is a vibrant Greek eatery in Malibu offering hearty dishes, a lovely outdoor patio, and weekend belly dancing for a fun, laid-back dining experience.
"We call it Tony's. It's in the Malibu Country Mart. It's half outside, half inside, and it's very lively. It's phenomenal vibes. You're right next to the beach. You start off with the dip. They give you a house dip and really warm bread. We get the Greek peasant salad, chopped, chicken souvlaki, lamb, an extra plate of rice, the grilled lemon prawns, and then if I'm feeling fancy, I'll get the pasta with tomato. Tony's is the best. And after Tony's, we go to Malibu Yogurt—I'm a simple chocolate-vanilla swirl type of guy." - brennan carley
"Sometimes, it feels like Malibu’s dining options fall into one of two camps: KFC or Nobu. But Taverna Tony’s is pleasantly in the middle. From the outside, this romantic indoor-outdoor Greek restaurant looks like a quintessential Malibu date spot, but it’s still casual enough for your sandy friends in flip-flops. Sit on the spacious outdoor patio and order a family-style meal of grilled octopus, creamy taramasalata, and whole grilled branzino. Weekends often include belly dancers, and if you order the saganaki, it’ll arrive in flames so everyone can ooh and ahh. " - brant cox, sylvio martins, nikko duren, garrett snyder
"Located in the back corner of Malibu Country Mart, away from the revving Porsches and toddlers in Gucci, is Taverna Tony: an oasis of great (albeit pricey) Greek food. This romantic indoor-outdoor space is a quintessential Malibu date spot, but not nearly as sceney as the restaurants near the water. It’s a great option for a post-beach dinner, though, where you can stretch your sand-covered legs on the beautiful patio and split grilled octopus, bowls of creamy taramasalata, and whole grilled branzino. And if you’re looking for a little entertainment, they typically have live music and belly dancers on weekends, too." - sylvio martins, brant cox, nikko duren, garrett snyder

"Located in the Country Mart, but slightly removed from all the exhausted yogis and screaming Galliano-dressed children in the main square, Taverna Tony is an oasis of pretty great albeit pricey Greek food. If you’re looking for a quintessential Malibu date night, but don’t want to deal with the hassle of all the main spots on the water, Taverna’s lively, local vibe is where you should be, especially on weekend nights when they typically have live music and belly dancers. You could also come by for an unencumbered lunch. Their covered patio is a great place to have a drink and fill up on octopus and Greek salad before or after hitting the beach." - Brant Cox, Sylvio Martins, Nikko Duren
