Sundaes and Cones in the East Village serves up a bright, spacious scoop of joy featuring Asian-inspired flavors and classic favorites, making it a must-visit for ice cream lovers.
"To get ice cream flavors like ginger black sesame, pandan coconut, or jasmine tea with roasted rice clusters without leaving your favorite spot on the couch, check out Sundae Service Creamery. This dessert shop delivers pints of homemade ice cream every Sunday to Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Plus, depending on where you live and how many pints you order, they’ll even deliver for free. All the details on their delivery range, promising-looking flavors, and payment options are available on Sundae Service Creamery’s website." - nikko duren
"There’s probably better ice cream in the city, but this is one of our top spots for sundaes. Once you’ve decided between the regular sundae (two scoops with two toppings) and the banana boat (three scoops with three toppings), the real work starts. You'll have to choose between nearly 30 different toppings, and flavors that range from cookie dough and chocolate peanut butter, to black sesame and Thai iced tea. There's not a lot of seating inside, so take your sundae to an outdoor table or walk over to a bench outside St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery." - bryan kim, willa moore, sonal shah, molly fitzpatrick, kenny yang
"Yes, you can get both sundaes and cones at this East Village spot, but you’ve come here for a sundae. There’s probably better ice cream in the city, but nowhere else will deciding between the sundae (two scoops, two toppings) and the banana boat (three scoops, three toppings) transport you so instantly to the tough decisions of childhood. Once you’ve chosen, the real work starts: there are 28 different toppings, and flavors ranging from chocolate peanut butter to Thai iced tea. If you order the banana boat, the person behind the counter will halve the banana, lay it on the sundae, and then carefully remove the peel. It’s mesmerizing. This is a large space, but there isn’t a lot of seating, so head to a table outside with your sundae." - Willa Moore
"Sundaes and Cones relocated to the East Village after its first two decades based in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Here you'll find all the classics, but most people come for their specialty Asian-influenced flavors—e.g. wasabi, ginger, and black sesame. They also make delectable ice cream cakes topped with fresh whipped cream."
"The flavors at Sundaes and Cones will please both traditionalists and more adventurous types. Choose from seasonal rosters of options that might include lavender, red velvet, wasabi, sesame, honey ginseng, and black sesame. Or, play it safe with classics like mint chocolate chip, vanilla, and cookies and cream. Founder Royce Chan ran a popular ice cream shop in Sunset Park before relocating his creamy creations to the East Village in 2009. In addition to scoops, there are fanciful cakes, too." - Alexandra Ilyashov
