This is the oddest Marriott I have stayed at yet. The furnishings in the room are nice although the building is older and has a weird roof in the hall area that flaps in the wind loud enough to be heard in the bedrooms. We were actually able to use a suite upgrade & were upgraded to ocean front which we appreciated & had a very nice view. Our initial room had the ice maker right outside the bedroom window but they agreed to move us to another room. The staff was fine - relatively efficient but nothing stellar. The pool area is old & in need of an overhaul. It is stained rather badly and therefore looks dirty. As platinum members, we received our free breakfast for 2 - the worst excuse for a continental breakfast imaginable. It contained very limited choices and the pastries were terrible day old gas station quality. We were told we could upgrade to the full hot buffet for $10 per person. At any Marriott that we have ever stayed at, if a full breakfast buffet was offered we received it. Is it really worth losing loyal customers over a few dollars worth of eggs and bacon?

We frequently go to the pool bar to have drink and dinner. There is one amazing bartender who always makes it a great experience. We would not be going to the Marriott at all if it wasn’t for Nolan ! He is the best. We have had our family stay there several times and this was about the only highlight of their stays! He makes the pool fun!!!

As a frequent business and vacation traveler, I was incredibly excited to visit the Marriott Hutchinson Island property during Thanksgiving break. Absolute mistake! While the property website notes "Fully Renovated" this is not the case. The area around our room was an active construction site with work ongoing throughout our stay. Most of the amenities listed on the website were not available - no beach shuttle (it's not a short walk), no watersport rentals, no marina or fishing access, no poolside food and beverage service (Latitude), no tiki bar, not even towel service at the pool (no pool staff during our Saturday-Wednesday stay). I have never rented a car while staying at a resort, as it is typically unnecessary - we ended up renting a car and spending most of our time off of the property.||The room was wonderful, but it was not our plan to spend our entire vacation in our room. The staff was amazing, which is the reason for the two star review, otherwise this would have been one star. The golf course was fine, typical executive golf course with friendly helpful staff.||After staying at several other Marriott properties this year (La Concha and the Honeyrose Montreal are highly recommended!) this was an incredible disappointment. I contacted Marriott Bonvoy to share my concerns instead of posting a negative review, but received no response which is actually more disappointing. Clearly, Marriott has abandoned pride in its brand. NOT recommended.

Google
Conveniently located near the beach, the property offers a mix of buildings. We stayed in the main building, situated on the inlet side. The room was clean, and the overall environment was pleasant. The breakfast buffet was excellent. A short drive within the property takes you to the other side of the villa, right by the beach. It’s a fantastic destination for families, especially if you enjoy golf, tennis, and pickleball. Definitely a great spot for a vacation—I highly recommend it!

Google
Worst experience ever!! Changed 3 rooms and all FILTHY !!Stay away !!! We have stayed here in the past, but has gone downhill since then! Even the renovated rooms were dirty and area rugs were in dire need of cleaning or replacement. Supervisors Abigail and Eileen were great and really tried, but still couldn’t stay for the remainder of our stay. We got a full refund for first night, which was very much appreciated. David was also very helpful while moving from one room to the other. Definitely not up to Marriott standards !

Google
Wonderful stay at this resort. Customer service was key to our experience. Abigail and Giovanni at the front desk and Joseph in the restaurant need to be recognized specifically. We stayed in the main building with some expectation to be beach side but this was our mistake in reserving. That said, the website does indicate more beach side local than most rooms or condos are in actuality. The beach access was great and a quite wonderful beach, just not direct rooms beach side. Thanks Marriott/Bonvoy!!!

Family has been coming here for over 20 years now and although the rooms have gotten better, not much else. They used to have a jeep with a trailer to take people around the property, then a golf cart, then a van, now nothing. The least you could do is give us a way around when you’re charging 400 dollars+ per night.

Google
Miki provided great customer service and very friendly. She was very attentive to my friends and I at the pool bar. this was the most amazing experience of my life, and if it had not been for the two working the outside bar, I probably would’ve gone into therapy because of the two patrons that were at the bar harassing me, but because of their thoughtfulness and professionalism I’m now extremely happy with my life Nolan and Miki we’re a big part of my new year being a success

Yelp
Had a great quick stay at the hotel. Beautiful location on the beach. Large pool area. Nice rooms. Property well kept and clean. Wish I had more time to enjoy. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Great resort perfect for all ages! I booked a few nights at this resort and I loved it. The front dest associates where fast at chick in and were able to answer all my questions. They are currently doing some remodeling so some areas had "wet paint" signs. All amenities were open so no issues with that. This resort was huge with 3 pools, golf course, marina and private beach entrance. We mainly stayed in the main pool area and bar. Our room was newly renovated and everything was clean and the furniture looked new. Overall I loved staying here. They do need to add a microwave to the room. But it does have a mini fridge.

Loopy A.

Yelp
Only 1 good thing to say about our stay is room was amazing, besides that our stay was not great at all. They put us in a room facing a construction site going on very loud first thing in the morning and had to complain one night cause one of the workers had his truck lights on and running a stand on dozer, they could have put us in a better room the resort was just about empty but that's what happens when you get a room discounted they give you the worse rooms.

Yelp
My stay at the Marriott property was regrettably the worst experience I've encountered with the brand. From the moment I entered the room, it was evident that maintenance was sorely lacking. The overall condition of the rooms left much to be desired, with mold visibly present on the balcony. The discomfort escalated with beds that seemed to have seen better days, and pillows that felt unchanged for years. The incessant noise from the vent disrupted my sleep throughout the night, creating an unsettling environment. The subpar conditions extended to the bathroom, where the recurring issue of an empty shower gel bottle persisted. This required me to contact the front desk to have it refilled for the next day. Such basic oversights in amenities added to the overall dissatisfaction of my stay. Attempting to address concerns through service requests proved futile. Phone calls went unanswered, and online service requests were only partially resolved, leaving me with lingering issues. This lack of responsiveness and incomplete resolutions added a layer of frustration to an already disappointing experience. Housekeeping further contributed to the disarray. Returning to my room at 2:30 PM, I discovered that no room service had been performed. The housekeeping staff noticed my presence but only approached my door at 3:30 PM, asking if I wanted the service immediately. When I requested a delay of 30 minutes, I was met with a refusal, compelling me to interrupt my activities for the cleaning. To my surprise and dismay, the housekeeping staff completed the entire service in a mere 10 minutes. Their rushed approach, including the offer to make the bed only if I desired, left much to be desired. The kitchen was left in a state of disarray, with half of the items untouched. This hastiness and lack of attention to detail were glaring issues during an already inconvenient interruption. Attempting to rectify the shower gel issue in the morning revealed the frustration of the housekeeping staff. The refill request was met with visible annoyance, and the subsequent service left several items untouched, all accomplished within another brief 10-minute timeframe. Despite these numerous disappointments, the one shining aspect of my stay was the exceptional service provided by Kevin, the shuttle driver. His dedication and willingness to go the extra mile for every request presented a stark contrast to the overall shortcomings of the property. In conclusion, the Marriott property, as a whole, falls far below the standards expected from the brand. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone with even a modest expectation of quality and service. My hope is that this detailed feedback serves as an opportunity for improvement and reflection on the shortcomings that marred my stay.

Yelp
From what I read, the Marriott Hutchinson Island Beach Resort has new management that has goals to update and enhance the lodging clients resort experience. The resort has a massive outdoor and beachfront space, plus amenities inside. The Resort is snuggled between the intracoastal waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. There are activities for all ages that will entertain everyone. In addition, Marriott Hutchinson Island's is adjacent to a full-service slip marina, managed by Oasis. One can charter a deep-sea fishing excursion, watersport equipment or a sunset cruise. Most important for me, the resort has an Ocean Club Golf Course, operated by ClubCorp, along with several tennis courts. All resort guests have access to a fitness center; whirlpool, and three swimming pools. The Resort service staff is friendly and accommodating, the rooms are comfortable and always clean.

Yelp
2 for drinks 4 for hotel! Came to this hotel for a wedding I had to go to! Rooms were nice! Pool area clean! Food for the event we had at the hotel was good! But the Sandpiper Tower bar area by the pool had horrible drinks! The first batch tasted like bad sour milk! The second batch after saying how it tasted still tasted funky and cost $27. Not a fan about that! The chicken tenders were pretty good!

Yelp
Late night check in went smoothly. Room was only half remodeled, carpet was very old, bathroom was modern, TV in bedroom was huge. No one told us the building was under construction. Thank God we were away everyday on business during working hours.

Yelp
As opposed to writing a review I am posting an email I just sent to the GM To whom it may concern, My husband and I recently stayed in the Marriott Hutchinson Island. Date of stay February 18th, 2023. Husband's name is XXXXXXX and we were in room 1370 and he is a Platinum Elite. The good - while we stayed at your property ALL employees were warm and welcoming. With especial Kudos the bartenders at both pool bars and your front desk personnel. The bad - Your hotel is in such need of a PIP update and the maintenance is abysmal. My husband was surprised you are even able to carry the Marriott Flag. The REALLY BAD - we left two items in the room. I have now called your property 4 times beginning on the date we checked out which was 2/19. The items left were a small short sleeved button top which was left on the bed and I missed it due to the fact that it was white and blended with the sheets. BUT also, a pair of Apple Airpods were left. We realize this was our error. That said, every time, I have called I have been guaranteed someone would call me back shortly and one time even within 30 minutes. We have never received a call back. I did call back last Friday and admittedly, was quite annoyed. To which your associate actually said to me the I was being RUDE. So much for the customer always being right. To make the matter funnier she went on to say she knew nothing of the issue and she was hearing this for the first time. Ironically, I believe I had spoken with her on one of my previous calls. I did not write her name down. Maybe you can listen to the tapes. Again, I realize this was our error. I am more upset by the fact that there was no follow-up let alone that this ultimately means our lost articles were stolen by an employee. We know for a fact that the Airpods were left as I have "Find my ....." on my phone and pinged them which of course showed they were at your property. Until, of course, they either died or were reset by the employee who now has them in their possession. I currently have been on hold for 18:27 seconds waiting for an employee to answer SO I COULD GET AN EMAIL ADDRESS - WOW Marriott Bonvoy you need to step up your game at this Edited - I wish I could reply to the employee below, I also sent my email to Marriott corporate. I received a reply from Marriott corporate that really did not address our concerns - in addition, the employee thanked my husband for being a Bonvoy Platinum Elite and called him by the wrong name. His full name had been listed in the body of the original email. I have a hyphenated last name that I use due to the fact that I lost my first husband at a young age. I kept his name when I was remarried to honor both my first husband and my kids! That just sums up the entire experience on this disastrous situation! Use some care and some common sense! Wow

Yelp
Rooms full of mold, exposed rusted screws in room, smells bad, cracks in the wall & broken fixtures. They're constantly spraying some aerosol smell to try and mask the smell of mold. Service is not good either. Front desk was rude to my pregnant wife when she brought up the mold and asked to check out a day early due to concerns over mold. No clue how this is even allowed to be called a Marriott. It's basically a a 1-2 star motel. It's not an isolated review, we were there for wedding many guests had same issue. I can share more photos from other rooms. At a minimum we'd expect a refund for the night we checked out early. My understanding this is a defunct Marriott property that's being sold and renovated and will be renovated in 2-4 years and be rebranded Would avoid at all costs unless you're extremely budget strapped and don't Mind unsanitary / safe stays.

Yelp
This may be the worst place. Waited an hr for lunch at the beach bar and finally the water comes over only to tell us the kitchen is closed. Same service at the pool. Never going back!!

Lee D.

Yelp
I already reported how bad this place is, but here is just one example of how bad the upkeep is. This is a picture of the fountain in the lobby of the Sandpiper tower. The place is a mess.

Yelp
Like vacationing at a prison camp. First let me start by saying this was the worst Labor Day Vacation experience in my life. From the moment we got here the security staff made us feel unwelcome. We were reprimanded for "laughing too loudly ". While by the pool they came to ask and inspect what we had in a box because they wanted to make sure we weren't bringing in any food. It was just some T-shirts and it was none of their business. If you so much as talk louder than a whisper past 10pm outside they come to reprimand you again, and again, and again. This is not a good place for families or big groups, as the rules are extremely strict and make it difficult to enjoy yourself on vacation. Also there is no beach! The beach is a mile away, at a sister hotel that you can take a shuttle to. The room was just okay. It is outdated, there was an old musty smell. The bathtub had a leak. Every time you shower you end up with a puddle of water outside the tub. Furthermore where that moisture stays accumulated there is an infestation of mold along the bottom of bathroom floor. We were so disappointed as this is an annual trip we take as a family. This was our first time here and will never be coming back here again.

Yelp
On October 18, 2024, my two friends and I attempted to check-in with our Confirmation Numbers at 1PM. The receptionist at the Front Desk advised us that we would need to speak to the Manager. This is never a good sign, and it certainly wasn't a good sign on this day. The Manager apologized that they "Had" to give our THREE rooms away, despite the fact that we had Confirmation Numbers. The Manager was completely focused on giving us Certificates for another two-night stay at any time, any where, that would be paid for by Marriott. However, we NEEDED accommodation for THAT night and the next, October 18th & 19th! The Manager arranged for our CURRENT two-night stay at another Marriott 45 minutes away! My friends and I had not rented a car. On our own, we booked our two nights at the nearby Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa, which was LOVELY and accommodating. The Manager drove us to the Hutchinson Shores, which was kind, but...HONESTLY! They gave our roooms away! Truly unheard of!

Yelp
Unless you find a very cheap or use points this is a run down hotel surprisingly it's a Marriott. We had an upgraded room with a view of the pool only covered by the palm trees..was more like holiday inn of 50 years ago..there's lots of kids so it's very loud at the pool..food by the pool crazy expensive..the parking lot...getting out of my car the driveway had about a six inch at least drop off where u wouldn't expect it so watch you don't fall or break your ankle! Unless you have to stay on the island due to relatives I would venture down to prettier beaches and more todo on singer island as well as more hotel offerings..

Self M.

Yelp
So first and for most the staff is super friendly. I forgot the young lady who checked me in, she was young curly hair. I want to say Sandra or Mariana or something. She was super helpful. Made the check in process a lot easier. My only real complaints were the rooms needing an up date. I've stayed at plenty of Marriott and this is one of the oldest looking. Pool area is nicer than the other Marriott closer to the beach. They had a breakfast for us every morning which was nice. Staff there was super friendly as well.

Sandy M.

Yelp
This place is a little gem. Main hotel is undergoing renovations and has a little updating to be done but.... We stayed in the sandpiper building on the beach. The room, or I should say 3 rooms, living room/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom is almost as big as my first apartment in Miami Beach! It is clean spacious and fantastic. The bathroom though small is very modern. The balcony, yes balcony, overlooks the Atlantic Ocean!! I am impressed. If I were to come to Hutchinson Island in the future, I would stay here for a longer time. It is set up to be a great little hideaway on the beach!!!

Melissa M.

Yelp
Stayed here this past weekend with the family. Rooms were renovated and the staff was super friendly. The bad: the chair in our room was broken-I didn't bother calling service bc we were only there for the weekend but definitely not a nice touch. The Beach and Resort is misleading. We stayed at the main hotel and the beach was 1/2 a mile away by shuttle. When we got to the beach-there was no one there to get towels. Then the guy showed up finally around 9am and he was also the only one putting out chairs and umbrellas. Long line for that too! Finally ready to leave and all the phones to call the shuttle back were broken. This hotel has a lot of potential just need to work smart. Check the facilities to ensure things are in working order. Have someone at the beach early to set up vs having us wait around for someone to show up.

Ely S.

Yelp
Great family staycation. I do wish they would have a better selection of food at their poolside bar.

Patt G.

Yelp
The rating for this place will definitely depend on which building you're in. I was in the one by the beach, so it was pretty posh. But it's also more expensive. On the same trip a coworker was in the main hotel and she found it to be a bit of a dump. I can't really comment on that because I never saw her room and she'll have to write her own review. For myself, it was rather sweet. My balcony looked out over the beach and the ocean beyond. Which goes without saying. If there wasn't an ocean beyond it wouldn't be a beach. It would be a flat sand area. But I digress. The view is great, but that's not what makes a hotel. The room was really quite nice. It was more than a room; there was a living area with a pull-out sofa, a huge television (that was never turned on), a writing desk, a kitchenette complete with cookware and dishes, a bedroom and a bathroom. Everything was clean and comfortable. And they even gave me a bottle of complimentary wine. Not the best move considering I'm a recovered alcoholic, but the thought was there. I gave it to the coworker so she could drink herself into oblivion and forget the crappy room she was in.

Colleen W.

Yelp
ok at best. The place is very very tired. All facilities are old and worn. However, I will say the staff was excellent. Rooms were clean very very tired.

Silvia D.

Yelp
Don't stay here if you care about the ENVIRONMENT! We stayed at the Sandpiper on the Ocean. Will have to say that accommodations and staff were great. BUT, the beach area is littered with guests' plastic waste from the resort bars and restaurants. I picked up plastic every time I went to go for a swim or walk. There was a wedding on the beach. The hotel erected a bamboo gazebo in-between 2 turtle nesting sites. In the morning the gazebo was taken down and the staff discarded all the plastic zip ties in the sand. In a turtle nesting site! Luckily early morning beach walkers picked up the garbage. Plastic Straws and bottle caps are everywhere on the beach. The Pool bar that supplies drinks down to the beach are still using plastic straws, non compostable plastic cups and the golf club is still using Styrofoam cups for water. Come on!

Eric D.

Yelp
It was not amazing and not bad but quite polarized between each. I was here for business as always and I am trying to try a new hotel each time. Please know, they close the beachfront building during the summer. You will need to take a shuttle or work off breakfast with a ~10 minute walk. It will not be beachfront if you are in main building. Important for families!!!!! About the hotel, it is older but well kept. I asked if I had a nice room and the front desk person was like, "oh ya, very nice" it viewed a parking lot looking at the fire station. That is not much of a very nice view. Be honest, I can take it, I lived 30 years at this point of disappointment. So the room may be older but honestly it is in good shape for the age and a renovation would help but isn't necessary immediately. It was loud, there were unfortunately a bunch of bro types and young kids there. As much as I love hearing them, you really could. The younger guy who fell into my door, gave me quite the scare. Luckily he hit his head pretty bad so that gave me solace. All night though, you could hear a lot so that may be an area of consideration for future improvements. I did get the breakfast, it was good! Good service and food was well made. Eggs, sausage, bacon yada yada - all the usual and it is $22. The guy who made my omelet did not seem like he wanted to so that was weird. Maybe become a chef elsewhere if omelets are not your bag. I cannot complain bc I have gotten the same buffet at a Marriott or Hilton for $30+ I had to leave early due to a change in travel plans and they were very accommodating. I wish I could have gotten over to the beach as I heard it is very nice. So maybe I will return when they open the beachfront building. Not a bad stay.

Jonnie J.

Yelp
Very outdated and expensive for a resort. Smells bad , drinks are weak and there is mold , mildew and just nasty

Sophia E.

Yelp
Place is getting run down. It's on a nice piece of property and the golf course is nice. The ocean area leaves a lot to be desired. The beach was filled with a smelly seaweed that should be cleaned up. The hotel has a limited number of beach chair rentals and was told if you don't get on the beach by 10 am you are out of luck. The pool area is also limited. Not enough space. Hotel management offers no solutions. The room had a musty smell. The AC was loud and only was set at an arctic temperature. Could not change settings. Lots of other issues: toilet, rainwater that leaked in room, soda vending machines all sold out, overall a worn look around the building. If not taken care of will start to resemble a Motel 6. Room was clean and maid service did their jobs well. Will not return. I'm surprised this place is a Marriott property.

Yelp
Went here for a little "post Covid" 2 day getaway. It's not far from home, about an hour and fifteen minutes and we just wanted to look at different walls. Got to the hotel on a Friday night and checked in with no issues. When we got to the elevator we encountered a STRONG STRONG smell of pest control spray and we thought maybe for mosquitoes since it had been raining and they're so close to the ocean. BUT when we got on the elevator we inhaled, thru our masks, so much spray that we started coughing. It seemed like forever getting to the 4th floor. We were tired from week so when we walked in the room we were pleased. It was a nice king size bed and the room was cool and cozy, JUST WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR! We overlooked the pool and partial ocean view. We slept like babies Friday night. Saturday morning we it rained rained rained but it didn't stop us from getting out for brunch we didn't want the limited hotel breakfast. This hotel is surrounded by very nice restaurants for whatever you have a taste for. When we got back to the hotel we just chilled on the balcony and watched some kids and adults play in the pool, play ping pong, or just relax at the bar YUP THAT WAS OUR EXCELLENT VIEW! All was well we thought Let's skip to CHECK OUT Sunday. It rained early in the morning but when we left around 11 it was pretty dry. This is when the trouble started and I had NO WARNING!!! We took our bags down to the car and checked out. I was itching but didn't pay much attention I thought maybe a mosquito had bit me. Got home and later that night I was sweating profusely while asleep then itching worse. By the time I woke up for work on Monday morning I had so many bites and itching so bad on my legs I thought I was going to scratch my flesh off. Bumps kept coming from nowhere. I put some alcohol and hydrocortisone on both legs with relieved me until I got off of work. I soaked in warm water and applied the hydrocortisone again. It was only a temp relief. The next morning I was in the urgent care. The Dr asked me if I had been in or around a garden or the beach. She also ruled out bed bugs because the bites were only on my legs. The Dr told me I had encountered maybe mites or sea lice. I had to get 2 shots in my bum bum. One anti inflammatory and a Benadryl shot My fiancé called over to the hotel and the GM named Brad tells him "well we have a sign in the LOBBY about the on-site mite issue and we spray for them!" THAT EXPLAINS THE ODOR when we first arrived to the hotel's elevator. We saw signs for masks/COVID 19/and 2019/2020 wedding awards, gift shop, and business center for the hotel BUT we NEVER saw anything about MITES. He has yet to contact us and it was over a week ago. I know he didn't care BUT he could've been a little more concerned about the situation. I GAVE 2 stars for the lady at the front desk, I believe her name is GuRonda, who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant. As for Brad the GM you should be ashamed of yourself and Marriott should replace you ASAP!!! If it wasn't for the patrons coming there you prob wouldn't have a paycheck. During this climate be a little more compassionate because you never know which way life could go.

Yelp
I made the reservation for my daughter's honeymoon. I was told that they would provide a special room overlooking the property for the listed and paid room rate. When my daughter and her husband arrived they were given a room facing the fire department, where they were awakened at 4 am by emergency vehicles leaving the fire station. There are certainly no complaints about the emergency responders doing their very important jobs. But this was not the side of the building I was guaranteed for them when I made the reservations. The air conditioner then stopped working as well as the refrigerator. When this was reported my daughter was offered another room that had no bed only an open up sofa. Never was there any mention of a comped meal or golf round or reduced room rate when these failures were reported. Finally, when checking out they are told that there is an additional resort fee. The price I had paid for the reservation specifically stated "Final Cost". This additional fee was upheld when I spoke to the manager on duty, Michaela. All in all, what was intended to be a pleasant honeymoon at a beach resort turned out to be one disappointment after another. Motel 6 would have been an improvement. Marriot management needs to remind the staff at this establishment that running a hotel is a Service Oriented responsibility. Pleasing visits that exceed expectations is what generates re-bookings and positive word-of-mouth. This visit has no doubt generated the opposite effect.

James T.

Yelp
By far and away the worst Marriott experience I have ever had. They do a bait and switch on the property imagery. The property is not all by the ocean. The ocean property isn't as large as they make it seem. It's nice but if you aren't in that property then they stay is terrible. We were in the non-beach property. I thought I was at the wrong address. The service was terrible as they don't staff it properly, they charge a resort fee for things you have to do yourself, the breakfast area is a joke and looks like a garage/storage area not a restaurant, the property has chipped paint all over, rusted out exterior items, provides towel cards but doesn't staff the towel desk (I had to grab them myself and sometimes they were empty), I had two service requests and they never showed up either time. This was at best a four points sheraton or red roof inn experience with JW level charges. Disgraceful.

Yelp
I am disgusted with the filth by the pool at the Marriott by the marina. The mold the garbage, the dead plants, the uncared for grounds, the lawn furniture is all moldy shame on them.

Yelp
Decided to stay here for a night on a whim, check in was fast an easy. The location is great, close to BathTub beach. Masks are required on property except while eating, drinking or in the pool. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, everything is very clean. There are a few restaurants on site, food is delicious as are the drinks! Will definitely stay here again. The only complaint is the a/c in the room was very loud. Except for that the stay was great!

Yelp
We reserved an oven front room.. paid double. The view was the parking lot.. with a sliding glass door that woke the dead when you opened it.. forced it open because it barely worked. They had some lame excuse about the building being close to the ocean. The beach itself was disgusting.. garbage all over the beach and broken glass. Extra charge, and the restaurant was expensive with cold food. The room itself was nice, but no hot water. very disappointed and no one cared in the least. We will never go back. Please don't waste your money

Yelp
We stayed in the Sandpiper tower. They definitely cut corners on their renovations: spackle was not sanded or painted, no hot water (nothing more relaxing than a cold shower!) Maid service was excellent. The food at the Tiki Bar was pricey and unexceptional. Definitely not worth the price.

Yelp
Tired Marriott property with a lot of potential. Like most hospitality locations, staffing was short. We were at Marina site as we didn't realize there was another option. Single bartender at the pool on a Saturday with 2 weddings on-site made getting a drink literally impossible. We left the property to find a bar. The noise level was astonishing. Minimal sound insulation between door and hallways so doors slamming and elevators humming was constant. Glass doors to balcony were so thin I'm not sure it would pass modern codes. So, we heard everything happening at the pool, our neighbors balconies, helicopters, etc. Coffee in room was nice, but not stocked! Only decaf and no stirrers. Room had up to date soft/hard goods. Huge flat screen TVs. Bed was comfortable. Hotel was relatively full - needs a proper investment in common areas and service.

Yelp
So I book this place. No problem. We get there and it smells so bad. There is a " water feature" out front that is just a stagnant pool of runoff water. It smells rotten. We ask the Desk about it and they actually go look and says that's normal. I thought I was crazy, then I saw guest leaving because the mother was about to throw up. The bathroom fan was so loud that it's clearly broken. They don't notice that? Nice staff. Room was fine, but that smell.... Ugh

Yelp
I've been a long time SPG member so when Mariott merged with Starwood I was excited to be able to try out some additional properties. The Mariott HI Beach Resort was the first Mariott property I used my points to book. First impression is that the resort is definitely a little dated and could use a refresh. We stayed in the main building and although this is the location of the bigger pool the rooms were definitely old and not as nice as the mid range properties in Starwood I have stayed at like Aloft and even Sheraton. The pool area was pretty relaxing early in the morning but became pretty packed by early afternoon. The pool servers were pretty attentive though and came quickly once we flagged them down. The real star of this resort is the use of the rest of the property. There is a free shuttle down to the beach which is behind another Mariott building so it was pretty much exclusively used by people staying at the resort. The beach was pristine and clean - absolutely perfect! The surf was very light and perfect for skim boarding which my daughter learned during this trip. Another big plus was that since I was a Bonvoy gold elite we were able to use the chairs and umbrellas for free - score! We also took advantage of the free driving range at the golf course. Although my kids never played golf before they had a good time hitting (throwing) balls into the lake. There were also some sand castle artists working on a sculpture on the lobby for the 3 days we were there and it turned out pretty awesome in the end. Overall, the rooms in the main building are just OK but the overall amenities, the beach, and location of the resort to a slew of amazing restaurants makes this a good place to stay at a reasonable price. If you don't expect luxury then you'll have a great time here.

Yelp
I wish I had checked the reviews here in addition to hotels.com before I booked! The grounds were nice, the staff was friendly, and the shuttle between the different areas of the resort was great! The room at the main hotel, however was old and dingy. The patio door wouldn't shut all of the way and the patio, itself, was filthy. No matter how nice everything else might have been, if I had seen accurate pictures of the room, I would never had booked the room.

Yelp
Stay away! It is far from a resort! From the moment we walked in the lobby we knew we had made a mistake. The condition of this hotel should be embarrassing to Marriott! The lobby's are tired and not maintained, everything needs to be painted. Railing are rusted. And then we got to the room! The sliding door barely worked. I dont think it had ever been maintained. The shower did not work. The AC unit was so load it was hard to sleep. Not a single towel hook in the entire room. The ceiling fan did not work. So with no door or window to open, the AC so loud, and no ceiling fan, it was a miserable nights sleep. I could go on and on about the need for maintenance both inside and out. They did move us to another room that was slightly better, but still far from acceptable. We are going to try to find another hotel today in the area so we dont ruin the rest of our vacation. I wish I had read the reviews first because I clearly am not the only one that feels this way! Stay away!

Yelp
So there were things that were really good and bad about this particular resort. To kick things off I'll say that the staff were really nice for the most part. Front desk was always top notch service and seem to do the best that they could with circumstances that came up. For example the first unit that we were given upon arriving had the air conditioner go out. They initially were going to send maintenance but we did not return to our room and notice it until after sometime around 10:00 and by then maintenance had already left so they were kind enough to migrate us to the next room over. Now I will say there were a few rules and things that played out at this particular resort that I thought were kind of crazy. This is probably supposed to be one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at and is certainly the first resort I've ever stayed at but I was dumbfounded to find out that it was $22 a person for what many people were claiming is one of the most eh breakfasts. Just in general I couldn't imagine paying to stay at a resort and not having a continental breakfast of some sort included. That part was quite dumbfounding. The second thing I couldn't understand was why there was no outside food or drink allowed at the pool. One of the guys that ran around the pool scolded some of my family for it before he even said hello to us and I thought that was slightly off-putting. Just my thoughts on it that in South Florida where it is blistering hot and it is important to stay hydrated, I should not be forced to purchase water or some sort of beverage from the stand just to stay hydrated. It's slightly off-putting and I don't think it's a good policy if somebody wants to bring water to the pool from their own source that they have. The other thing is as many have already claimed that this hotel is exceptionally dated to a level that I wouldn't have personally thought. Carpet in the hallways was definitely out of date and one of the corridors had the smell of mildew throughout it. We also had to walk all the way around through 2 buildings because the elevator was completely out of service that was closest to our room. The other elevator was apparently sketchy because after standing there waiting for over 10 minutes for it it still did not come and so I took to the stairs and found other guests on other floors waiting for the elevator that was not coming either. It seems remarkable to stay at a resort and have to take stairs up to the third floor. Also be advised that I found that the red floor areas around the elevators became slick. One other aspect to it that was a little disappointing was from pictures online I kind of got the impression that this was on the beach and although the beach is within a longish walking distance, this particular resort is not actually on the beach. While our first unit had an air conditioner that was out in it, our second unit was not without issues as well. It had an entire light fixture in the area where the coffee maker was out and the shower had an exceptionally worn out bath spigot that was loose in the wall and when you attempted to pull up to switch it to the shower mode it struggled to properly seal without really yanking up on it while also holding the fixture in place to prevent it from what apparently would be potentially yanking it out of the wall. These things are simple fixes and it totally surprised me that these were in such disrepair. The walls also lacked modern insulation and sound dampening as we could hear neighbors in the next room over snoring as well as when their alarm clocks went off and when they awoke and began conversing with each other. It generally woke me up every day. If I heard them snoring I know they heard me snoring so I'm sure they weren't exactly thrilled with that problem either. On the bright side the second room that we got into the air conditioner worked great and got the temperature down. Shower got super hot so that you could have a nice relaxing shower and feel clean and the soaps provided were of at least decent quality although the labeling on the bottles is small enough to where if I didn't have my eyeglasses out it was easy enough to miss what they said. Two of them are the same color substance inside the bottles and I ended up putting lotion on my head instead of conditioner haha. Overall we didn't spend a whole lot of time at the hotel anyways and it's pretty close location to a lot of the places that we wanted to be and that made the visit more enjoyable. The pool is very clean which was a huge plus and the layout seemed definitely very resort like which was cool. Overall even though our stay wasn't awful and the majority of these issues are easily correctable, and some of them unavoidable such as the elevator not working, our stay was decent enough and overall was more impressed with the staff courteousness than anything. That being said it probably would not be my first place to stay in the Stuart/Sewalls point area.

Yelp
Run. Don't stop. Rude front desk. Outdated facilities. Checked all 3 floors and none of the ice machines worked. Advertised as beachfront and that's a 3/4 of a mile shuttle ride. While in the pool birds were bathing with us, which leads me to believe there's no chlorine ....spent $550 on 2 rooms for 1 night. Will never make that mistake again.

Yelp
Dear Mr. Marriot @marriotthotels my family and I spend a weekend in your Huntington Fl. location. Sadly, since our arrival and up to the next day, our car was stolen. It was a Blue convertible Camaro. Police was called and our claim was done. I must say that your response was almost inexistent, and your lawyers answer was even more pathetic: "Your claim does not proceed because nothing like this has ever happened before" What kind of answer is this? You should be ashamed. We went there 17 people in four cars. Your manager didn't even ask if we had away to return home. They basically washed their hands. As the big corporation you are, should be aware that YES, shamefully this things happen. We didn't wanted our car to be stolen and NO, we did not received any emphatic posicionó from your employees. So, it doesn't matter what a big name you may have, your "behavior" was pretty small.

Yelp
Bunch of morons. Nobody and I mean nobody in any department answers the phone at this property. They lost 3-room booking from me. I'm looking elsewhere in the area. Note to Marriott, somebody needs their a@@ fired in management at this motel.

Natalie P.

Yelp
Rooms are extremely dated, the beach is NOT in walking distance to the rooms. If you don't have a car, you have to rely on a shuttle to take you to and from the beach. Nothing is convenient- everything is far away and dated. The only thing that feels "marriott" about this place is the lemon and orange infused water in the lobby. Another thing is like to add, is, there's a $29 resort fee that does NOT include beach chairs on the beach. Not sure what the resort fee covers, but be prepared to spend $10 per chair per day.

Yelp
Picture images on AA.com site are totally different than what actual hotel condition. Terrible condition in real world. Furnitures are tear away and dirty on surface! Ceiling has crack. Restroom`s exhaust fan was extremely loud. If a couple stay in the room, one can't sleep if the other using the restroom. I couldn't stay more than 6 hours in this hotel!! Just want to let people know don't book this hotel. You don't want to ruin your vacation!!! Also very over price for this extremely old condition hotel!

Yelp
Like many reviews, the bar staff was excellent. Drinks were great and staff was pleasant. The staff in the lobby - not so much. I asked a question and was uncomfortably ignored for several minutes. My event catered food here and it was pretty underwhelming . Even others at the event told me they couldn't eat it. The filet mignon was likely not filet or frozen - but it was likely both. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant. Oh. and my steak was about 2 ounces with 3 weird shrimp in cream Sauce. The whole place gave a very strange 1980s vibe. It was like a time warp and not everything was updated, so it felt a little outdated and shabby. It tried to give off an upscale aura, but it felt more like the upside down. Waking into the place smelled musty and apparently some of the rooms had mold - though I cannot prove it. I have no idea how much the event cost - but judging on the OP rooms - likely a solid penny. So. If you enjoyed the 80s - this might remind you of a time long ago. If you enjoy overpriced food and drink - yes, yes - go here! If you like being ignored and your fancy event to smell like mildew - perfect. I'm just glad those at my event seemed too consumed in their happiness to notice. Grabbed a crispy chicken after I left. The quality was much higher at the fast food place.

Yelp
If you think you're coming to a resort, you're not!!! This should not even have the Marriott name attached. It looks and feels old and fun down. We booked this room months ago, requested a king bed and couldn't get it. If you look online at the pictures you will be like okay, looks great! Not! So disappointed

Yelp
We went for our wedding anniversary. Interesting that u check in at a different property then drive to the beach property, weird but ok. The beachfront common areas and pool are kept nice. Our ocean view was pretty nice. The balcony furniture were missing the seat cushions so it's just weird/wrong seating. The building itself needs some maintenance: for example our balcony ceiling is falling off, the building itself looks like it needs a facelift/repair, lots of peeling and rust. The air handler looks like it's been there since the civil war. Our room was ok, funny the bedroom was painted a dark grayish blue ...sorta like a cave, not the sunshine beach type expecting when staying @ the ocean. The small bathroom had a nice size sink counter, the dressing type area in the bedroom had no light so not good for fixing hair or anything. AC was loud/noisy, the bathroom fan hunked in dust, I looked cause pieces of things were on the floor when it fell out. The beach chairs & umbrellas you rent, they set up, was a great offering, the crew very nice and efficient. The chair straps are pretty worn out so even avg weight people fall thru. Lots of cute, quaint places to see and eat around ...since u hv to drive back to their other location to buy Marriott bkfst we opted for Jan's which was a short scenic ride and very good and less $, got there, ate and was on the beach by 9a. Beautiful sunrises and sets to see from our ocean front room, loved that. No hair dryers but ice machines...plan accordingly, we did.

Yelp
I am beyond frustrated with this "resort" I planned to have my son and his new wife stay there for a night after they got married. A suite with a beach view was reserved ahead of time. All we had to do was call the day before with the confirmation number and say they were on their way. I was made aware by my new daughter in law the "spa" wasn't doing couples massages due to Covid. After they checked out come to find out my son had to pay for the room even though our card was on file. So much for a romantic night away.. they weren't even allowed to charge anything to the room. I really wish another "resort" was chosen for this extremely special day for my family and they will never get that time back. After contacting the reservation department we were notified the lady we spoke to a few weeks ago didn't have us full out some paper. So because she didn't do her job properly my son and his new wife started out their honeymoon as if it was just another night at a hotel having to walk out and pay for it. Seems the people there don't know how to do their jobs, the person on the phone didn't offer any solution. It is an all around pain and I feel sorry that they started their new marriage being told "this could be considered fraud" How rude, what a slap in the face. What a way to kick off a honeymoon Thanks Marriott Hutchinson Island Beach "Resort"

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. Do not waste your money, time or energy staying at this hotel. It is trash. The front desk people are very disrespectful. I literally checked out two hours after checking in and rebooked at a Hilton Hotel In the night during a storm because it was that bad! The appliances were coming out of the wall, water leaking from the dishwasher, fire sparking from behind the dishwasher, the stove did not work and all the groceries bought ended up in the trash because when we complained they told us we can just go ahead and leave. Don't even try reporting them to any corporate office because they do not follow up or do anything to rectify the situation. Save your money. Go find a Hilton. I am so disgusted with the Marriott experience I am canceling my membership and will never stay at any of their hotels anywhere.

Yelp
I am very disappointed. My husband is a Marriott Bonvoy member and travels a good deal for work. Months ago we booked a hotel with his points and he bought extra to cover. No one mentioned anything being wrong with the reservation or that he had to call to add the points. Today, 6 days before check in we get an email that corporate has cancelled the reservation. The hotel is now sold out. We have been looking forward to this vacation especially since I'm a health care provider on the front lines in DESPERATE need of a vacation. We managed to book one night (and spent a TON) but still have 2 nights with no hotel. Customer service was awful as well.

Yelp
The only thing this property has going for it is location. That's where it ends. The staff isn't very friendly or accommodating. The rooms are dirty and in dire need of new paint, carpeting, window treatments and bathroom fixtures. I totally understand changes that were necessary due to covid, but customer service is not something that should suffer. In fact, it seems like a standard excuse given by staffers, "sorry, it's because of covid." It's like the staff was given carte blanche to be rude, lazy and of no help whatsoever, because of covid. I have traveler status with Marriott Bonvoy. It meant nothing at this property. Really disappointed with the entire experience. The only bright spot was John at the golf course. Super nice guy and very helpful.
