Ryan Heffington's The Sweat Spot

Been stuck at home with no emotional or physical outlet with the covid shut down. Was perusing my Instagram when I watched a video of Pink talking about how amazing the online class / dance party was with Ryan Heffington. I thought well I LOVE to dance haven’t done for 20+ years... let’s check it out!! And let me tell you it changed my life!!! I’m so many ways!!! I was laughing, crying and dancing and for the first time in a long time I was feeling happy to the core !! Then I became addicted and started taking other classes that were offered on IG live from the sweat spot for donation only!!! Which every time you dance with one of the dancers you want to send them your entire bank account. Because you are so grateful!! After this last dance class I just took on Instagram I felt the need to do something to show my deepest appreciation!!! I enrolled in a zoom class that wasn’t working properly and they offered to refund me!! NOWAY!! Refund ?? During these times when I know the shut down has affected all their dancers so much! Their kindness and positivity was worth every penny!! No refund needed my money has been so well spent a million times over!!! I just wish they were in Santa Barbara, I would be there everyday dancing my heart out! I think once the doors are open again, I might have to find a way to head down to LA !! Thank you Ryan heffingron, The sweat spot, and all the amazing teachers and staff!!! You have made this distancing so much fun!!’

This place isn't called the sweat spot for nothing. I've never stepped foot into a dance studio or attended a dance class ever in my life up until last night. I took the GROOV3 class with Benji Allen and he can really get his classes poppin, especially with the live DJ he had that night. Wether you're a first-timer like me or you've been dancing since the womb, these classes will welcome and cater to everyone of all levels of dance experience. Just make sure you have a decent amount of space for yourself as well as others around you,because as soon as that class starts, you'll get into it so deep that you'll be stepping on and bumping into people with out even knowing it. Benji's class focused on choreography, coordination, and muscle memory, while making your fat cry and having a blast. It was a bit difficult to see what Benji was teaching because I was in the back of the class, but he'll rotate you to the front to get a better view his moves. That really goes to show that he truly DOESN'T leave ANYONE behind. The class ran for a solid 90 minutes and that consisted of Benji constantly reinforcing his techniques on to you until it became second nature. After I was done with the class, I had to ring out my T-shirt outside 5-6 times. My shirt was the sweaty version of Niagra falls. (NO ONE HAS EVER MADE ME SWEAT LIKE THAT) Wether you're looking to learn new moves or you just simply want to get off your couch, then The Sweat Spot is an immediate go to. Words really can't describe how amazing these people are, especially with their work. And honestly, you don't need to hear words from anyone to feel the love and support this wonderful community has to offer. Side note: This was only one class out of the variety. As soon as I saw the bulletin board right next to the lovely ladies at the front desk, I felt like I walked into a candy shop. What classes they offer? That's for me to not tell you and for you to find out.

It's not a learning environment it's more of you should already know and we'll play with dope choreography.

Benjie is so much fun and every week you learn a new choreography. There's also a live DJ spinning great tunes every week and the class vibe is always upbeat. I've been going to this studio for about a year now and have had the best times here. I've brought many new friends and they've all enjoyed the class, some have become repeat dancers too. Love this class and can't wait to learn more moves.

Groov3 with Benjamin Allen is sooooooo much fun! The energy here on Tuesday nights are ridiculous (in a good, fun way)! There's a live DJ spinning music throughout the class. If you come a few times, you'll recognize and make friends with familiar faces too! Ben breaks down the choreograph in a very easy-to-follow way. I didn't have any hip hop dance experience before but had a blast my first time here...and continue to! I'm hooked :) No one should feel intimidated to come take a class at Groov3 - guaranteed fun for all level dancers. You'll sure to work up a sweat and feel sooo good afterwards! You'll never want to do another long, boring cardio sessions on treadmills, elliptical, and bike machines again!
