Yelp
The lights of Roppongi Hills... Nothing like taking in the view of the holiday lights all lit down Roppongi Hills and having the opportunity to take it all in is something I couldn't resist as many cities around Tokyo gets ready for the holidays the time was here for the breathtaking view. Nothing beats seeing it in person as the details on the trees are brightly lit and seeing it from the top of the hill with the view of Tokyo Tower in the backdrop which I seriously didn't expect it's a brilliant effect though getting the right shot is done only by crossing in the middle of the street which I do apologize but is so worth the effort. Shopping here was very brief and didn't have to be expensive as there was a lot of options but found myself passing through several office buildings to find this spot as there was so many access points by train it was difficult to figure out. I believe they also have a Christmas Market which was too late for my visit unfortunately but the selection of events they have here is lovely and impressive. どうもありがとうございます!

Yelp
shopping around here on my last day! lots of walking around to do in these streets and buildings. people about on their day, whether it be for work or leisure, just npc vibes xD

Yelp
Luxury department store in Tokyo. Very accessible by train. The holiday market was cute but tiny. Other cute holiday decorations as well but it was very crowded. The views of the city were beautiful. Overall a pretty but expensive shopping center. Many options though. Many tourists so the litter in Japan in the cities is increasing by a lot compared to before. Make sure to take your trash home with you!!

Yelp
Roppongi Hills is actually a large collection of buildings that is made of a shopping center and residences. It is huge with the main building being 54 floors tall and impossible to miss. I was here during Christmas time, which is easily the best time of the year to visit. For a country that does not celebrate Christmas, the amount of decorations and festiveness was impressive. The best phrase to describe this place is high end. It is made of high end stores, high end restaurants, and I am certain the price is sky high to rent an apartment here. Roppongi Hills is not a must see, but is an interesting look into how the upper class of Japan live.

Yelp
Roppongi Hills (六本木ヒルズ, Roppongi Hiruzu) is one of Japan's largest integrated property development projects, located in the Roppongi district of Minato, Tokyo. It was constructed as the dream of Real Estate Development Genius, Minoru Mori. As per his vision, this mega-complex incorporates office space, apartments, shops, restaurants, cafés, movie theatres, a museum, a hotel, a major TV studio, an observatory, a huge outdoor amphitheater, reflection ponds, and numerous parks, some with Cherry Trees. The centerpiece of the complex is the 54-story Roppongi Hills Mori Tower. Mori's stated vision was to build an integrated development where high-rise inner-urban communities allow people to live, work, play, and shop in proximity to eliminate commuting time. The goal of such a project is to "create more leisure time for tenants and guests. And statistically this must be working, because a second version of "Roppongi Hiruzu" is presently under construction in a different location within Tokyo. It is called Azabudai Hills.

Yelp
Nice mall with 3 buildings of shops and restaurants. Most of the food places are underground.

Yelp
The Roppongi Hills is a modern complex that has high-end restaurants (e.g., L'Atelier de Robuchon), high-end shopping, nearby museums, and a whole lot of cool urban art. By modern, everything looks so sleek and elegant - its definitely not a mall or even department store in the traditional sense. Shops seem hidden and discrete, and there is very little signage or advertising. There's also very limited seating inside, so you either have to go outside or roam around the Starbucks. The Mori Tower was closed when we visited, which was a bummer. However, there's always the cool urban art scattered around the complex. The coolest one and one that is a must see is Maman, a gigantic 30-foot tall spider mother. Like the ZZ Top song, "She Got Legs!"

Yelp
I had read somewhere that there was a Christmas festival going on in the Roppongi area, more specifically, at the real Roppongi Hills shopping complex. This facility is located right outside of the Roppongi Metro Station and it made up of several buildings and I have to admit, it was pretty crowded for a country that does not celebrate Christmas in a more traditional manner like other countries, however they do still follow the commercial side of this holiday. It was very, very crowded and it took a while to navigate the whole area, as again, it was made up of several buildings which had several floors each, so it took a little bit of time to navigate everything. It was also a challenge to make sure that we didn't come back to an area that we were at before. Overall it was a great experience and again, it felt very festive and the Christmas spirit is definitely alive in Japan! Note: I am trying to catch up on my reviews from the recent trip I took and I'm circling back to previous check-ins I had done. In order to stay aligned with my pictures and notes, I am working through this in a chronological order. Thanks for your patience!

Yelp
I have love-n-hate relationship with this place. It's relatively close to my house and also it's "happening" place - lots of people congregate, one of my local bars residing in the building, overpriced movie theater, art museum, etc.... Things I want and/or need are all packed in this compound. However, it costs you. Lot of thing are quite steep. And I feel guilty of spending a lot afterwards... If I pick one place that's reasonable here is Rigoletto Bar 'n Grill. But I think this is good place for window shopping if you are a girl. Lots of boutique here.

Jeremy S.

Yelp
This is likely one of the best views in all of Tokyo as it provides a literal 360deg Panoramic view of all the city with some uncanny Tokyo tower views. This place is indeed chic, which is expected as it is located in the upscale Roppongi Hills. The building itself is quite gorgeous complete with ample shopping and dining options to go with the nice surroundings. The piece that takes the cake is the observatory, the top floor... Pay a fairly substantial fee to get yourself to the top and trust me you will not regret it, especially at night as the views are literally breathtaking. Pros- Fantastic views Great seating areas Bar located up top Friendly service Panoramic views showcasing the massive size of the city of Tokyo Cons- A tad expensive Hike to get to

Yelp
Roppongi-hills is not only shopping and business complex, but also they changed life style of residents of Tokyo. It contains business center, shopping mall, high class hotel, cinema complex, museum, TV station and residential towers. lots of event held inside the site, beer festival, international film festival, premiere show which invites famous movie star! We can find something interesting in this place whenever we visit. Quite many excellent shops inside the shopping mall, we can understand what is going on the fashion world now. There was no such a place before Roppongi-hills opened in Tokyo. I think Roppongi-hills brought us inter culture lifestyle.

Eric D.

Yelp
Roppongi Hills is one of the best examples of a city within the city. Opened in 2003 in the heart of Tokyo's Roppongi district, the building complex features offices, apartments, shops, restaurants, a hotel, art museum, observation deck and more. On the 52nd floor of the Mori Tower is Tokyo City View Observation Deck, it is one of Tokyo's best. Indeed it was definitely worth going. Also located on Mori Tower's top floors is the Mori Art Museum, a modern art museum with a focus on new artistic ideas from all over the world.

Yelp
ROPPONGI HILLS When I first walked in, I thought Roppongi Hills was just a shopping center. After walking around and looking at the maps, I realized it was much more than that. We stopped by on Wednesday, April 13th at 5:09pm. We didn't fully explore this area, but Roppongi Hills actually includes offices, residential apartments, parks, a museum, movie theatre, a huge tower, etc. There is so much more to this space than just the shopping center. I don't recall the shopping center being that big, but I did check out Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney. We also walked around Mohri Garden. There are huge sculptures and artwork scattered around Roppongi Hills. One thing that stood out was the huge spider sculpture. Though the roommate's brother thought it was an octopus. If you ever see it, I'll let you decide. Interesting place to walk around. I never went up the tower, but I can imagine what a great view it would have been. Especially at night.

Alex K.

Yelp
Roppongi Hills is larger of the two shopping complexes in the area (the other one being Tokyo Midtown). Hills is a huge complex that has something for almost every leisure activity: its a combination of a shopping mall, movie theatre, museum & arts exhibition, Observatory, restaurants, luxury apartments, hotels, TV stations, offices, you name it. It's super easy to get lost in this place (I get lost almost every time I come here), but it's definitely a nice place to get lost. The facility is very spontaneous with some special events happening all the time. I guess what I want to say is, no matter how many times you come here, there's always something to do for you.

Joe T.

Yelp
A very tall tower that is hard to miss. From the outside it is pretty impressive. The view from the observation tower are really nice, especially from the roof. The mall is ok, nothing special. The outdoor space is a nice place to stroll. The building is not open late with the observation tower closing around 8pm.

Yelp
this shopping center is the most modern-looking mall i've ever seen. living in the states, i see malls and shopping centers getting renovated/expanded/revamped all the time, but i've never seen anything quite like this! this mall not only has several floors, but these floors are located in various buildings....sorta. well the buildings are interconnected via walkways and curved staircases, but you cannot go straight up or down, you need to go across and around and up/down, which isn't something i'm accustomed to. but it surely made for a very unique looking shopping center. i enjoyed walking thru the various mazes as i explored this mall. they have many of the stores that we see in the states (armani, banana republic, hugo boss) as well as their local, japanese and asian vendors. plenty of food here, as they have lots of international cafes with food and drink to fuel you up for your exploration of the center. there's even an observatory at the top, where you can take in views of tokyo...we didn't get to see this, but i'm told there's some fantastic views to be taken in here. shops are open daily from 1100-2100, restaurants open from 1100-2300. convenient to the roppongi subway station.

Nick S.

Yelp
Roppongi Hills has it all. From top companies including Google, Apple, Goldman Sachs, this is the premier place where business meets entertainment. Whether you are here for shopping, dining, wining, shopping or plain working, this has something for everyone.

Marc M.

Yelp
This is more like a downtown neighborhood than just a shopping center as there are office buildings, open courtyards, common areas, and other amenities to go along with a high end selection of shops and restaurants. There is direct access to this area from multiple train stations as well as street access from just about anywhere. I enjoyed walking around and taking in all the hustle and bustle of activity as there was a constant stream of tourists and business people walking through heading to wherever they were trying to get to. The roster of stores and restaurants is pretty impressive and again leaning towards the high end so this is definitely an easy place to make it rain from shop to shop if you so desire. You will find a museum, movie theater, observatory, parks, residences, public art (see: creepy gigantic spider statue) and a hotel which really makes this a complete destination unto itself. With everything it has to offer, Roppongi Hills is definitely worth checking out while visiting Tokyo, just make sure to set aside plenty of time if you want to see everything.

Philip L.

Yelp
Wide ranging complex with shops, grand hyatt, connection to metro, restaurants. Cool outdoor space (around mori tower, maybe 3rd level) with misting water and spacious area. Also good outdoor seating at ground level between hillside shops and the tv studio Can be a little confusing at first to navigate everything but this is a happening place.

Jing X.

Yelp
Roppongi Hills is described as a "city within a city". It's a huge integrated complex with residential apartments, office buildings, and scattered shops. Do not confuse this complex with Roppongi district, which is known for its nightlife. We came here at 9pm and most of the shops, restaurants, and museums were already closed. The only nightlife here is a leisurely walk through the public plazas. It has a nice view of Tokyo Tower and the surrounding areas. Come during daytime if you want to experience Roppongi Hills. We felt ripped off by coming here at night.

Jhoana B.

Yelp
I don't go to this place now as much as I use to. I do love the atmosphere here. Mix of classic and contemporary. The giant spider for sure is not to be missed. A few meters behind it, there's a big sculpture of a rose and it's often missed There's a spectacular view of the Tokyo Tower too. Always lovely. There are restaurants and shops around. Zen Garden The christmas season is one of the highlights. One of the most popular places to go for Illumination.

Nobuhiro M.

Yelp
One of the tallest buildings in Tokyo with an incredible view of Mt Fuji during winter season.

Jen S.

Yelp
Where the elite go to shop. Some go to see the giant spider. Others go for concerts, tastings or a simple coffee from Starbucks. This area is really nice for sightseeing, getting some nice clear views of Tokyo and doing some high end shopping. On a nice, clear day you have excellent unobstructed and interesting views or Tokyo. Like others said as far as cost goes, this is not your cheapest place to shop, eat or hangout. If you are on a budget you can still wander over here and spend a couple hours people watching, window shopping and enjoying the view. When I was here in September they were having free live music and a beer tasting festival going on. Even if you did not want to partake in it, it was still free to listen to the music, wander around and people watch. I even saw some people on the outside lawn having a cheap picnic! Good for them! If you have the money to spend you can easily spend a day here eating, grabbing coffee, some high end designer clothing/bags/shoes and a movie. Overall I would say if you are nearby the views alone and the experience could be added to any must see tokyo list, but the actual place, the shopping/dining/entertainment could easily be missed.

Kim N.

Yelp
A crazy mix of high end retail, great eats and cultural mixture. It's clear Western influence has pervaded the area in it's shopping. However, hidden away in its glitz are places like Sukiyabashi Jiro which is as traditional as sushi gets. Anchored by the large Mori tower, my friends have an office there which is great beacon if you should get lost here.

Guy K.

Yelp
In A Nutshell: -Roppongi is the expat part of town that I noticed when I visited last October 2013. -Tons of bars and restaurants :) Overall, excited to come back Nov. '14!

Jennifer G.

Yelp
This is a nice spot to walk around for a bit... some good cafes, restaurants and shops if that's your kind of thing... If you're into walking, there are some good photo opps in the side streets around the Roppongi Hills area...

Sumi A.

Yelp
I love Roppongi Hills! So much to see, do, and eat. And lots of different festivals and events throughout the year. The layout is a confusing mess so I constantly get lost, but also a reminder of how much there is to discover. Also a good place to let my toddler run around. Kiddie stores like Bornelund and the playroom for babies and little kids are also a hit. Plenty of diaper changing facilities too. So all around a family friendly place to hang out (although pretty expensive).

Danan R.

Yelp
A beautiful mall located in the Roppongi district with a very wide range of restaurants and a few luxury shops like Ugg, Vivienne Tam, and Kate Spade. There are definitely more restaurants than actual shops but the tower is lovely and gives a great view of the Tokyo night line. You can also purchase tickets to the observatory as well. It's more of a luxury destination but one worth visiting if only to stroll around and grab a bite while taking in the great view. It's also only a 5 minute walk to the nightclubs which is a nice perk.

Ellen C.

Yelp
Got any questions while strolling in Roppongi Hills? Then the general information center at hillside 2nd floor is where you have to check out. It's always no harm to ask questions here and sometimes you get useful information. There are two reasons that I always go check in information center first before my Roppongi Hills tour: 1) to get 1 or 2 hrs parking free special service, and 2) to ask that day's special activity or shopping discount service. 1) I highly recommend to sign up their community passport membership -- especially credit card membership -- so you will get 1 or 2 parking free service every time you visit Roppongi Hills, and you've got chance to cumulate your shopping points to present voucher. The credit card costs 0 yen annual fee, and can be used in Omotesando Hills as well. You can sign up non-credit-card membership for your under-12-year-old kid too, so you'll get various kinds of special discount. For example, 10% in Adidas for kids shoes and equipment! And 2) I always chat with the friendly information center clerks to check if Roppongi Hills are running any special event for kids or offering any special discount that day. I'm always surprised how much information I could miss! Use the information center smartly and enjoy your Roppongi Hills your trip, no matter renting free stroller for your babies or just get a pamphlet. The information center runs from 10am to 9pm every business day.

Eric P.

Yelp
This is the best place in all of Tokyo. It is a great place to go for a walk, grab a bite to eat, relax and have a coffee at one of the many Starbucks. I remember when I first came to Tokyo feeling like I was at home here. Contrary to what you might be led to believe given Roppongi's reputation as a foreigner friendly area, the level of English here is not any higher here than elsewhere in Tokyo bye staff at the shops etc do not speak English at all, so if you don't speak English get ready for a lot of finger pointing and gesturing. But then if you have been in Tokyo for long you will be used to that. Even the doctors in the clinic on the 6th floor don't speak English. When Citibank moved their ATM to Ropongi Hills from Roppongi Crossing, that solidified Roppongi Hills's claim as most awesome place in all of Tokyo.

Kelly D.

Yelp
The heat and the crowds made this just a quick stop today. The layout is not very straightforward so was not able to explore much of it.
