What a lovely, homey, space. If you are looking for a well-known hideaway nook, where you can have delicious food with great service, this is your place. The wines are fabulous, the atmosphere is delightful and charming, and the food is top notch. The wait staff are all Italian, which is adorable when they whisper to each other (and you understand every word). They glide through the restaurant caring for each guest with ease. Though asking twice for things at these prices is not my favourite. A few seams showing in the seamless. But it's not a big deal. They could absolutely stand to update their website menu, as it is terribly out of date and inaccurate. It was the reason we chose to eat here, and it turns out they do not, in fact, still have the Bottarga dish on their menu. The clams are still there, but the main attraction is only digital...the print menu on site is up to date, but that hardly helps when you're not IN there, planning. Maybe they'll update it. Though I doubt it. But it is a wee gem of a spot, and the food that we did have was delicious. For my celiacs: they have gluten free pasta, but do NOT get carbonara or cacio e pepe, as these are not gf (they use regular pasta water for the sauces).

We celebrated our anniversary at Sotto Sotto, and the experience was absolutely perfect! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and romantic. The service was flawless—our server was attentive, pleasant, and made excellent recommendations, although I regret forgetting his name. The food was nothing short of spectacular; every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully prepared. It truly made our special night even more memorable. Sotto Sotto has become one of our favorite spots, and we’ll definitely be returning!

My first time visiting Sotto Sotto and I’m impressed. The steak was cooked to perfection ,juicy and full of flavor. The seafood plate was equally impressive, showcasing fresh ingredients and delightful preparation. The fried calamari and shrimp were crispy and well-seasoned, making for a great appetizer. To top it all off, the tiramisu was simply amazing,rich and indulgent. I can't wait to return for another meal! Highly recommended.

Nice little restaurant in downtown Toronto. Definitely gives you an elevated Italian fine dining experience. They have a good selection of wines and cocktails to choose from and the wait staff is quite knowledgeable about the menu and drink pairings. Make sure you call ahead to book your table, they are pretty busy. For apps we ordered the deep fried shrimp and calamari and mussels. The mussels were supposed to be spicy but were not. They were cooked in a white wine based sauce but other than that there was little flavour. The calamari was excellent as was the sauce it paired with. For our mains, we had the angel pasta with shrimp and arugula and the seafood linguine. Both dishes were well cooked. Shrimp, scallops and calamari are things that can be so easily overdone but that wasn’t an issue at all. We had a Prosecco with dinner. For dessert, we had an Americano and their flourless chocolate mousse cake. Very rich and moist. Served as a generous slice with white chocolate cravings. The only thing I did not enjoy was the seating. It is very jammed in there. Waiters literally have to squeeze by and that tight packed arrangement makes dinner conversation difficult. I’m not sure if it’s different downstairs as we were seated upstairs but that was not an aspect I enjoyed. But the food is great and the wait staff is friendly and attentive.

Came here for my birthday dinner and the food was absolutely delicious! The gnocchi was my favourite. Great interior vibes, and definitely busy for a reason. The service was fast and efficient. Would for sure come back!

Sotto sotto is a upscale italian restaurant in downtown toronto. We immediately got seated in a romantic environment dining area. Our server came up quickly to give us suggestion. We ordered Filet Mignon, and Seafood Risotto. Both taste great, I strongly recommend both dishes. We finished up with the tiramisu, it was average but it still gave a great touch at the end of our meal. I would definitely go back again to the restaurant

As a vegan they made me a very simple pasta which I did enjoy. My family I went with loved everything they ordered and rated it 5/5. I loved it as a vegan as well just not ideal. A great date spot or a place to go to celebrate something!

To my first point about the food being bland - the overall dish was lacking flavour, the sauce didn’t have any wow factor, and the seafood was rubbery and overcooked in my opinion. The actual pasta itself had no bite to it; it was a bit mushy. However, I think these issues can easily be rectified. Perhaps I just got an “off” plate. For my second point about the snobby atmosphere. It felt as if from the moment we entered, there wasn’t much hospitality provided. Perhaps because my friend and I weren’t dressed up in fancy attire like other guests, the servers didn’t pay much attention to our table. Tables that arrived much later than us were served their food before us. When asking the staff questions, I was simply shrugged off with some snarky remarks about the food at this establishment taking longer to prepare than fast food. The overall atmosphere was just unwelcoming. Hope this feedback helps!
