Redbird, a stunning restaurant in a former cathedral, serves upscale New American cuisine and inventive cocktails in an airy, chic space perfect for any occasion.
"If you’re downtown to see a show at The Ahmanson or Walt Disney Music Hall or want to impress your parents with how well you’re (pretending) to have your sh*t together, Redbird should be at the top of your list. Its Bunker Hill location is a quick walk to all the major theaters and museums, the large space (that used to be a church) is stunning, and though it can get pricey, the menu is huge and ideal for people who never know what they want." - jess basser sanders, brant cox
"Redbird is stunning, huge, and not the kind of place you’re going to once a week—all reasons why it’s one of the best spots for a holiday party Downtown. The menu involves lots of plates to share, so maybe make sure you’re sitting next to a friend so you can hoard dishes together. Capacity: 30 people seated in the main dining room. 90 seated in the lounge. 150 seated on the outdoor patio. 225 standing for a full buyout. Private dining rooms can fit between 16 to 110 seated, 30 to 150 standing." - brant cox, nikko duren
"Redbird’s seven-course heat-and-serve menu is running 12/18-12/19, 12/23-12/24, and 12/30-12/31. It includes dishes like ginger-pumpkin soup, turkey roulade, NY strip bordelaise, and more, along with optional add-ons like a cookie party kit and a make-your-own truffle risotto. Order online." - brett keating
"This massive, upscale DTLA restaurant used to be an abandoned church, which, for some, might be the closest they’ll get to a religious institution this holiday season. It also happens to be a gorgeous space with two bars serving an extensive holiday cocktail menu, including the Charlie Chaplin with apricot wine and Bombay Bramble, a coquito with Bacari 10-year rum, and a Jack Daniels-infused pumpkin punch." - sylvio martins
"If you’re looking for a bit of epicness on your next date night, Redbird is a place to keep in mind. This cathedral-turned-restaurant in Downtown has been around for several years, but remains one of the most impressive dining spaces in the city. The interior is cute and cozy, but if you can, snag a table in the main courtyard. That’s where a retractable roof opens nightly offering views of the historic Vibiana bell tower and juliet balconies on the surrounding buildings. As for the food, it’s a standard array of pastas, appetizers, and big plates of meat, but all of it is quite good. " - brant cox
