"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe? A glamorous lit awning and door flanked by red ropes mark Provocateur's entrance. Step inside and you instantly transport to 1920s Paris, with a drawing-room-style lobby outfitted with plush, jewel-toned velvet seating, tin ceilings, deep black walls, and moody lighting. The building’s original 1911 gold-clad elevator ferries you upstairs to the equally evocative rooms. A swanky fusion restaurant and a stylish, buzzy bar round out the thoroughly seductive vibe. What's the backstory? Amsterdam-based Israeli designer Saar Zafrir created the hotel’s sumptuous interiors, which snagged the 2018 German Design Award for best interior design. The hotel is part of the Frankfurt-based Gekko Group, a boutique hospitality company that operates hotels and restaurants in Germany and beyond. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? The hotel’s burlesque-style theme carries into its 58 rooms, replete with opulent chandeliers and rich red or royal blue velvet walls, furnishings, and draperies. But you’ll also find a whiff of Berlin debauchery—flip a switch next to the bed for “Provocateur Mode,” which dims the lights and reveals risqué video artwork by local photographer Kai Stuht. Categories range from Petite to Deluxe (opt for the latter to get a freestanding tub in the living area) and several have balconies. The two suites are worth the splurge: the open-plan Maison Suite has a nifty triangular ceiling punctuated by skylights, while the Terrace Suite's sprawling patio with city views can't be beat in warm weather. All rooms have Nespresso machines, minibars stocked with local products, smart TVs with screen-sharing technology, and a Marshall Bluetooth speaker. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? Wi-fi is fast and free. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Celebrated Berlin restaurateur The Duc Ngo created the menu at Golden Phoenix, whose Chinese-French fusion dishes—grilled foie gras with mango chutney and Sichuan pepper, Chinese truffle pasta, and a long list of dim sum—are beautifully presented in a lavish red-and-black dining room. Breakfast (not included in room rate) offers an a la carte menu of standard dishes. If the weather is agreeable, enjoy it al fresco on the garden terrace. And the service? Service is friendly and welcoming, and check-in and check-out are a breeze. What type of travelers will you find here? A stylish, well-heeled crowd frequents the bar and restaurant, so pack accordingly. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? East Berlin is better known for its hedonistic reputation, so opening an unabashedly sexy, sceney hotel on a sleepy West Berlin block is a bit of a gamble. The surroundings are unremarkable—there are some upscale restaurants and fancy boutiques on nearby Kurfürstendamm—so prepare to make the hotel the center of your nightlife experience unless you’re willing to travel. Any other hotel features worth noting? The acclaimed bar creates liqueurs and infusions for its burlesque-inspired cocktails. Evenings, it's in full swing, with stylish locals filling up stools around the U-shaped bar or lounging in the red velvet booths. Things can get a bit rowdy on weekends, when DJs spin and the party goes on until the wee hours. Bottom line: Worth it? Why? We love the outrageous design and buzzy bar, but if you're looking for trendy options for dining and drinking nearby, book elsewhere." - Jennifer Ceaser

I recently stayed at Provocateur Hotel in Berlin and had a fantastic experience. The hotel perfectly balances style, comfort, and convenience, making it a great choice for both business and leisure travelers.||One of the biggest advantages was its prime location. It’s situated right across from the U-Bahn Konstanzer Straße station, which made getting around the city, especially to Messe Berlin for my conference, incredibly easy. There’s also a grocery store just a few steps away, which was super convenient.||The breakfast was absolutely top-notch, a rich spread with quality ingredients that made every morning feel indulgent. There are also some great restaurants within walking distance, adding to the appeal of the area.||As a Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite member, I had hoped for an upgrade, but the hotel was fully booked during my stay, a testament to its popularity. Regardless, the standard room was well-designed and comfortable, true to the boutique-luxury vibe the hotel is known for.||Provocateur is a unique and stylish addition to the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, and I’m very glad it’s now part of the program. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Extravagant hotel! I liked it very much and would give 5 stars if not a bit old room and super slow breakfast. Lovely style (a bit fetish, lots of plush, mirror on the ceiling!). Excellent bar with top bartenders and quality. Friendly and supportive staff. Easy check in and check out. Breakfast tasty, but I have never experienced such a slow service especially during breakfast service during the week when almost everyone is in hurry. I witnessed twice (I was there 2 days) people leaving before being served. If has to be addressed. In general hotel is awesome and I will stay there again when in Berlin. Great location close to many restaurants and just 50 meters from Ubahn (subway).

If there’s one place that truly lives up to the phrase Divine Decadence—yes, that legendary Liza Minnelli line—it’s Provocateur Hotel in Berlin. I stayed there back in July 2019, and I’m still haunted (in the best way) by the definitely Cabaret, burlesque-style atmosphere that seeps from every velvet-draped corner of this seductive hideaway.||||From the moment you step into the lobby, you’re swept into an immersive experience—a cinematic dream where every detail is carefully curated to seduce the senses. Picture velvet seating, sultry lighting, lush plants, and rich oriental rugs underfoot. The aesthetic is a masterclass in sensual decadence, with an unmistakable nod to Berlin’s hedonistic golden era.||||Upstairs, the rooms continue the story: arty black-and-white movie stills and photographs grace the walls, and a moody film plays softly in the background. It’s not just a place to sleep—it’s a mood, a mise-en-scène, a setting for stories you might never tell.||||And then there’s the restaurant—utterly unforgettable. The kind of place where every bite feels like a secret indulgence. The ambience is just as intoxicating as the menu—deep reds, low lighting, a whisper of jazz—and the dishes, bold and beautifully plated, mirror the seductive tone of the entire hotel.||||If Berlin is a city of shadows, Provocateur is where they flicker most elegantly. It’s not just a stay—it’s a performance. And you? You’re center stage.

In contrast to the rating on Booking.com, the hotel was a disappointment. The internet stopped working for two days, the light in the room suddenly went out on the second day. The wastepaper basket in the bathroom was still full from the previous day. The elevator only worked from the second floor from time to time and there was a thick layer of dust on the ventilation slots in the room. Whether it was because of all the black furnishings that you could see fingerprints everywhere in the bathroom, quite possible. In any case, not very hygienic for a hotel. This would require double staff. The highlight on the last day: I sat in the dining room for 20 minutes without being served. There were only 6 other guests. I can't imagine what it would have been like if the dining room had been full. I had, or rather had to organize my breakfast outside of half. It's a good thing I didn't book this in advance. Sorry, but it seems to me to be a very disorganized operation with a lot going wrong. What I would like to mention is that the ladies at reception were helpful and nice, although some of them did not speak German.

Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff, comfortable room and very good bed linen. The bathroom was a little ‘tired’ the shower hose overhead/hand held knob was stuck and the marble needs a good de-scale as it was clouded with hard water residue. Very good bathing products. We had problems with the tv and could not connect to apple tv even with the help of the hotel staff.

We liked a lot our staying at this hotel. The room was very authentic, with many beautiful details that made it even more special. The room was always clean. The hotel bar was also fantastic. The drinks were tasty, and the bartenders were also very attentive. The atmosphere in the bar was lively. It was nice to sit there and enjoy the atmosphere. Overall, we had a great time and would love to come back again in the future!Thank you!)

I am not sure if/when I will come to Berlin again but if I do, I would definitely stay at this place. Great location, great staff, nice place and I would look forward to their shower every day! For Jewish travelers, it is very close to Chabad and a kosher bakery AND they understood and were helpful about my shabbos needs.

The food was excellent. A big thank you and praise goes to the young charismatic waiter from the restaurant. I hope I remember the name “Blendard” correctly. I hope it is spelled correctly. Hats off ! Always happy to come back!
