2014 YELP 365 CHALLENGE - 228/365
I've always thought the whole juicing trend was such an LA thing...and tried to stay away from it. However, I recently watched a video of a person doing a Pressed Juicery cleanse on YouTube, and was curious to at least try some of their juices!
After reading about the Pressed Juicery locations in Westwood, Brentwood, and Santa Monica, I decided that this one seemed to be the best, so I came here for the first time last week.
Parking is pretty crappy, as with everything located in Westwood Village. I ended up getting lucky and finding a metered spot a few blocks away, but Pressed Juicery is located at a weird intersection where there aren't THAT many spots. You can also park at Target or Trader Joe's nearby if you plan on going to those stores so you can get validation from them.
The interior of the store is VERY minimalistic. Literally there is nothing except the counter at the back of the store, and refrigerators where all the juices are chilled. There were two girls working when I went - Jacqueline (same name as me!) and another girl I don't remember what her name was. I told them it was my first time going there and they were super eager to introduce me to their menu and let me sample a TON of flavors!
Here's my opinion on all of the juices I tried:
GREENS 3 (kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, cucumber, celery, apple, lemon, ginger):
Supposedly this is their most popular green juice, but I did not like it. Even though it has the apple, lemon, and ginger, I felt like it just straight up tasted like all the green veggies in it. I'm not a green juice/smoothie lover to begin with (much more into fruits), so this was a no-go for me.
GREENS 5 (spinach, romaine, fennel, orange, pineapple, cilantro):
If I were to get a green juice, this would probably be it. It tasted like a very tart orange/pineapple juice. I didn't LOVE it, but it was definitely tolerable, especially in comparison to Greens 3.
ROOTS 3 (beet, apple, lemon, ginger):
This was okay. I didn't love it, but didn't hate it. I heard that all of the Roots juices tasted absolutely horrendous, but this one didn't taste as bad as I was expecting.
CITRUS 2 (pineapple, apple, lemon, mint):
If I purchased a 4th bottle (I purchased 3 in total), Citrus 2 probably would have been it. Pretty refreshing and good, I'm just not a HUGE fan of mint so I didn't get it. I will probably purchase it on my next visit, though! My friend says this is her favorite flavor out of all of the juices.
FRUITS - Apple, Strawberry Coconut:
My FAVORITE out of everything I tried! Honestly I couldn't really taste the coconut, but I loved the combo of apple and strawberry together. Absolutely wonderful! Wish I could have bought like 5 of these!
FRUITS - Strawberry Apple Lime:
Basically like a strawberry limeade. Very fruity, sweet and sour. My second favorite flavor! The only thing I didn't like was that it had a lot of strawberry seeds in it, and it was really frustrating to down the last bit in my bottle because there were dozens of seeds at the bottom.
SIGNATURE - Vanilla Almond (almond, dates, vanilla bean, sea salt, filtered water):
I was a little bit disappointed in this one, although I purchased it anyways. Tasted just like rice milk to me. I expected it to me more creamy and dessert-like.
SIGNATURE - Coconut Cinnamon (coconut meat, coconut water, cinnamon):
Also a bit disappointing. I LOVE coconut flavored things, but I don't really like coconut meat. That's mostly what I could taste. I would have preferred coconut milk instead of meat/water.
I ended up purchasing the two Fruits juices I mentioned and the Vanilla Almond. I was VERY happy with my purchases and managed to keep them over a few days.
It makes me sad that these juices are so expensive, because otherwise I would buy them on a regular basis! I paid $21 for 3 bottles, and it was totally worth it, but I don't think I could do it that often.
Overall, I HIGHLY recommend Pressed Juicery! Love this location and their juices!
