Pommidoro dal 1890 Ristorante

I went with my Italian collaborators and this restaurant is famous among Italians. I heard that many celebrities come here for dinner and the place is welcoming. We had carbonara and I can tell the difference since I had it in another restaurant the day before. It appeared good and tasty. The starter had mushrooms and it was also great. Slightly pricey, but the food is good.

A great family restaurant, simple decoration and traditional setting with excellent quality and feeling of home made food. Best carbonara in town, excellent meat selection and delightful dishes. The tiramisu simply delicious. Totally recommend to go with friends, family and kids.

Beloved of course of Stanley "Oh my God!" Tucci in 'Looking for Italy' Indeed their old school / Nona cooking is a throwback. The Spaghetti Carbonara 🍝 is superb. The place is in a run down suburb so reliable taxi (rare in Rome these days) a must.

We were looking for dinner options near Via Tiburtina and shortlisted 3 options - when we read the reviews and saw that this place was recommended by Stanley Tucci, the choice was simple - definitely recommend this place! We had the: 1) Bruschetta e carciofo (toasted bread with artichoke) as a starter, I am a big fan of artichokes and this was the star of the night 🤩 2) Spaghetti alla carbonara - the umami flavor of the guanciale 😋 3) Rigatoni alla’amatriciana - the amatriciana was served piping hot (very comforting for me as I was already missing Asian food 🙈 on day 5 of our trip) and I must say, the burst of flavor from the tomato sauce on the palette was amazing 😋💯 We also had 1/2 litre of their house white wine, perfect companion to our meal 🥂

Always an excellent experience. Food is fresh and delicious every time. Staff is extremely welcoming and helpful with a wine suggestion. A must try when in Rome.

Got to meet the wonderful owner of Pommidoro and have a wine bottle signed by him. If you are going to Rome, visit Pommidoro dal 1890 Ristorante. Pasto delizioso, which is Italian for delicious meal. Spaghetti alla Carbonara was the best I've ever had in my life. Caprese was so fresh and spectacular. All desserts are homemade, and the semifreddo was cold and refreshing on a hot summer day. Had their house white wine, and it tasted magnificent. If in Rome you have to try this Ristorante you won't regret it.

Amazing food and staff. Carbonara is best I’ve ever had. Other pastas incredible . The Roman roll was such a different and amazing dish. Highly recommend!!!

The traditional Roman pastas, cacio e pepe and Carbonara were just “OK” however, the intestine pasta was really really excellent. We also ate Florentine steak, and this was one of the best tasting steaks I have ever eaten. It was better than one I ate in Firenze. The dessert was so so. Service was not warm but also not slow. It is very business like. It was the only restaurant that I experienced when spending over €150 to charge for an espresso. So, to recap, the staple pastas were not wow, but the steak was excellent.
