"This tucked-away beach bungalow borders the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve at the very end of the beach road, evoking the Tulum that existed when the property first debuted over a decade ago. There’s no pool or flashy beach club at Olas Tulum, and that’s exactly what makes it so charming. With only eight suites, arriving here feels like you’re visiting the home of a dear friend. Delightfully secluded away from the noise and crowds, the property’s meals are organic and served at a communal table. It’s the type of place where you make genuine connections, both with other guests and the staff." - Michaela Trimble

"As is the case with many hotels in the Tulum section of Riviera Maya, Casa de las Olas shies away from the “luxe” label, preferring to promote itself as a simple, eco-friendly retreat where intimate spaces and five-star service are more important than linen thread counts and extra amenities. Bright white walls, mosquito nets, private balconies, and canopy beds are what guests can expect in their rooms. This doesn't mean that Casa de las Olas is skimpy in any way. The staff are known for their thoughtful attention to guests, and the small size of the hotel—justfive suites—ensures they are never overwhelmed by guests' requests or needs.Plus, each room has views of the Caribbean Sea, and the hotel’s private beach is never more than a few steps away."

"Why book? It’s delightfully secluded away from the noise and crowds. Set the scene: This tucked-away beach bungalow borders the Sian Ka’an Biosphere reserve at the very end of the beach road. There’s no pool or flashy beach club—you won’t find that crowd here. With only eight suites, arriving here feels more like you’re visiting the home of a dear friend. The backstory: The property was built in the 1970s by Austrian engineer Carlos Schober at a time when the area was only host to unassuming beachside cabañas tucked within the jungle. For over a decade, it’s been privately owned and run as a boutique hotel. The rooms: This is an all-suite property with only eight rooms, each with ocean views and decked in modern furnishings. The Oceanfront Master Suite is the largest, with two king-size beds, a dining room table that seats six people, and an extensive outdoor terrace with a lounge bed and hammock. Food and drink: All meals are served at a communal-style table in the center of the property, set atop white sands and facing the crystal clear waters of the Yucatán. The recipes are Yucatecan and made from scratch from organic ingredients. Each booking includes a complimentary breakfast of French press organic coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh seasonal fruit with handmade granola and yogurt, and a breakfast entree of the day. The neighborhood/area: Set away from the crowds and the noise of the beach road’s clubs and day parties, this is a no-fuss, old-school Tulum set. The service: Relaxed and laid-back. The property’s true allure is in its access. They can set up ornithologist-led boat tours through the wetlands of the Sian Ka’an biosphere, kayaking tours to the Muyil lagoon, and more. For families: Accepts children five and up. Eco effort: The property was specifically designed with sustainability in mind: Mature coconut groves provide shade, curved walls circulate the air and provide a natural cooling effect, and pure underwater streams are gravity fed into the hotel’s sinks and showers." - Michaela Trimble

My husband and I recently stayed at Olas, and it was truly a wonderful experience. Abby, our host, went above and beyond with her kind and generous hospitality, recommending many amazing places for us to explore. Each morning, we enjoyed a simple, yet delicious breakfast, that was the perfect start to our day. While it does take a bit of effort to reach Olas from town, the journey is well worth it. It's a bit of a journey to get to Olas from town, but just take your time and you'll be rewarded with a peaceful oasis at the end of a busy strip.

Tulum may have gotten busier in the past years but Olas remains a beautiful, peaceful hideaway at the end of the jungle road. You will go to sleep and wake up to the sounds of the waves crashing, you will find tranquility under the palms, you will enjoy incredible hosts. The true magic of Tulum still exists, in a few special places - Olas is one of them.

We stayed at Olas in early December and I can not say enough about the place. Absolutely incredible. We never return to a spot, the world is filled with too many options however I will easily make an exception for Olas. Highly recommend.

Olas Tulum is a slice of heaven - beachfront, quiet, and gracious. I’ve stayed here twice, and each time it just gets better. Nothing is better than falling asleep listening to the sounds of the ocean and feeling the breeze and waking to the sounds of the birds. The staff are so kind and accommodating and have all kinds of recommendations to make your visit memorable. With the recent opening of the Tulum Airport, it’s about a 45 minute ride to Olas by taxi or private transport. Restaurants are 2 miles up the beach road, and I usually walked to dinner and took a taxi back. Love this place!

Ahhh Olas … this place amazes me for its tranquility and beauty. Let’s start with the rooms : beautifully decorated with local furniture, super comfortable beds and breathtaking view of the sea. We were greeted each morning by a wonderful, out of this world sunrise … The food : incredible breakfast served every morning by the kindest chef Nano ! Do not miss out on lunch either, the chef prepares tasteful ceviches and the best tacos on the beach The atmosphere : if you’re looking for a place to relax and have a feel of what Tulum used to be, then this is the place ! The beach : this is literally the best place on the playa, you’ll have the beach to yourself. We were lucky enough to encounter some baby turtles hatching ! The people : I saved the best for last. The “staff” are the kindest people you’ll meet. They will care for you and make you feel so comfortable. It’s a home away from home. Special mention to Nano and Jimmy ❤️

WOW! If you are looking for an eco-friendly small and quiet resort to stay at, look no further. This place is AMAZING! The ocean front and ocean view rooms both have the most perfect breeze blowing through. It is on a part of the beach that is very quiet (just before the natural reserve) and the overall vibe is so peaceful. We loved our time at Olas and will absolutely be back to try the rooftop yoga and enjoy some more peace and quiet :D

We stayed at Olas for 5 days last week and had a wonderful visit! It was our first time in Tulum so I didn’t have a lot of context for what the beach and area looked like or what the vibe was, but I was really happy I chose Olas because of the location! It’s nestled at the end of the busy hotel zone road, and while all the hotels are relatively small, the road becomes quite the bustling scene at night, loud music from restaurants and beach clubs and taxis everywhere. Olas was far enough from the chaos to make us feel like we were in the jungle alone but not far enough that we couldn’t walk to restaurants. It was about a 20-30 minute walk to some of the good restaurants and it’s really dark so I recommend a flashlight or headlamp! The room we stayed in (junior suite) was perfect!! We could see and hear the ocean from our room and the temperature was perfect at night. The bed and pillows were so comfy. The breakfast in the morning was one of the highlights from our trip! So refreshing and delicious every day and a joy to get to meet other guests and get to know the chef (Nano). We had a wonderful time at Olas and would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet, romantic beach getaway.

I stayed 3 nights at Olas and it was perfect. I had a partial ocean view and loved being able to listen to waves overnight. This is the perfect spot if you are looking for quiet. Most people are closer to the main hotel zone so it was great enjoying fewer people on the beach right in front of the property. If you're comfortable walking, its easy to get to any of the restaurants - even the nicer ones. The room was classic Tulum and had nothing more or less than I needed. Check in was easy and I paid the balance upon arrival. Breakfast was a nice communal way to meet other guests and get tips on restaurants. Highly recommend this place.
