"The husband-and-wife team behind revamped cosmetics line Buly added a couple degrees of fantasy when furnishing their flagship shop—modeled after a nineteenth-century apothecary—with Tuscan tiled floors, Italian marble counters, intricately carved wooden cupboards, and prettily painted beams. And then there are the products: alcohol-free scents and modern, paraben-free formulations, beautifully packaged in old-fashioned vials and glass jars. Whether you’re in the market or not, this shop is a treat just to look at. "

How Paris is inspiring the fragrances of luxury perfumers - SilverKris

"Housed in a grand, apothecary‑like building on Rue Bonaparte with dark‑wood shelves, giant glass flasks, white bottles and a blue chequered floor, the boutique specialises in all‑natural oils, fragrances and bath products. Founded by Victoire de Taillac and Ramdane Touhami in 2014, the brand has expanded internationally and staged a Louvre collaboration in which eight perfumers created scents inspired by artworks such as the Venus de Milo (mandarin, jasmine, amber), La Victoire de Samothrace (tuberose, magnolia, jasmine, myrrh) and La Baigneuse (citronella, orange blossom, patchouli, incense), with a pop‑up at the museum store offering scented postcards, candles and perfumes." - Kasia Dietz

I first heard about Officine Universelle Buly in 2022 and told myself that the next time I visited Paris, I had to stop by and pick up a few gifts for myself and my family. I finally went with my mom this year, and it was even better than I expected. There was a wait to get in—about 30 minutes—but it honestly didn’t feel long. The young woman managing the line was so kind and bubbly, which made the time go by quickly. Once we reached the second line, the security guard was incredibly sweet and even chatted with my mom in Spanish, which made her feel so welcome. Walking in can feel a bit overwhelming at first because of the sheer amount of beautiful products, but once a staff member came to help us, everything felt easy. She was so attentive and patient—she showed me where to find the brushes, helped my mom discover new fragrances, and made sure I found the perfect souvenir for my husband. The handwritten calligraphy added to his gift was such a special touch. Visiting Buly ended up being one of my favourite experiences in Paris. I ended up leaving with a comb, a perfume discovery set, and a boar-bristle hairbrush with a brush cleaner—and I absolutely love everything. I highly recommend this shop to anyone considering a visit. It’s worth the wait and the experience is truly memorable.

This was such an incredible experience!! Yes, there is a line. There was a line pre social media too, but in November we waited about an hour to get in. Once we were in, Eva waited on us and she is so wonderful and lovely and truly made the entire experience. Part of the reason the line is long is because you are not rushed ever. They walk you through everything, adding fun stories about the ships history as well and finds items that compliment you best. This is completely worth the trip, so grab a coffee/tea and stand on line and hope you get the gorgeous Eva. It was one of the highlights of the trip :)

Carole at Officine Universelle Buly in the 6th made my shopping experience absolutely magical. She went above and beyond and made me feel so welcomed and cared for. I came back the next day and was helped by Chafik, who was just as wonderful — warm, attentive, and truly exceptional. Their customer service is unmatched. This is a shopping experience I’ll remember forever.

This boutique was well worth the wait. The staff was so kind! Even though it’s a small shop and they only allow so many people in at a time, I never felt rushed while picking out my perfume. The man at the door also gave us some lovely little scratch and sniff samples while we were waiting, which was a nice touch to get familiar with some of the scents. The young woman managing the second half of the line on Quai Malaquais today was lovely as well - I believe she said she had just started on Tuesday!

Officine Universelle Buly 1803 is a stunning boutique and well worth a visit while in Paris. The shop itself feels timeless, with beautiful design and a refined atmosphere that makes browsing a true experience. We queued for about 1.5–2 hours outside, but once inside it was clear why the wait is part of the charm. My wife enjoyed selecting several items for herself and for friends as unique souvenirs, each beautifully presented and memorable. Guests are paired with a dedicated staff member to guide them through the products, which adds a personal touch. While our assigned staff member seemed a bit impatient at times, the overall service and presentation were still very pleasant. This is a must-visit destination for anyone who enjoys craftsmanship, history, and a little indulgence while traveling.

The wait time is quite long, I waited 1hr and went around 4pm on a weekday, and even once you’re inside it’s busy, but it’s worth it! I was attended by Chafik and Maud-Hoa who were both lovely and very helpful. The store also had all items in stock, as I initially went to the Officine in Le Marais but was told that the lip balms and hairbrushes weren’t available. So if you’re visiting Paris this is probably the best branch to come to. Despite the wait it’s a lovely shopping experience, so if you have the time I would recommend!

We had such a great experience here. Even though we had to stay in line, it was super organized. The moment you got in, there was this only person there to help and guide you through. The stuff was super kind and so helpful. Everything we got is just amazing and so beautiful 💖 a must see place, for everyone who loves quality, perfumes, natural skin care and pretty combs and more.

Wonderful place. I had the time to explore all the fragrances. We went there ~40min before the closing and waited just for 5 min. Hugo, the sales person, welcomed right from the beginning and supported a lot. Much appreciated. 🤍

Yelp
Ok TikTok you did your thing! In a real way. The lines for Officine Universelle Buly are seriously outrageous. I told my Mom I wanted to stop in for a personalized lip balm and comb but had no idea we'd arrive to a 90 minute wait just to walk into the store. Absolutely wild! What's even more wild, is little miss impatient (hi! It's me!) stood there because I wasn't leaving France without my engraved curly hair comb and my monogramed lip balm ;) I also picked up a special little gift for a friend and my Mom purchased a couple of balms for my sister and my brothers girlfriend. The experience was lovely once in, and moves swiftly after decisions are made. They didn't have the lighter curly hair comb I originally wanted so I opted for tortoise which the associate said she prefers over the other because the gold engraving stands out more. You have two choices for lip balm cases, ivory or black and a plethora of options for leather exterior where the monogramming is placed and pouches. All of our items turned out well. I'd recommend if you can stand the wait time. The gifts are very sweet and I can't stand a "souvenir", that just screams tacky! Beautiful store, gorgeous product line.

Yelp
Yes, I was influenced by tiktok. I thought this was a cute souvenir to get from Paris. It's bougie af, but it's Paris.... So you know, when in Rome. So we get to the counter and wait because there are customers being helped. I didn't see the lip balm containers out anywhere. There was a display of combs, tooth brushes and a lot of fragrances. When the customers ahead of us left, the girl working was nice and welcomed us. I told her I was looking for the lip balms and she pulled out the palette. I chose the color of the container and what I wanted the container to say and she had me write my name down. She told us to come back in 30 mins and also informed us that if we spent over 100 euro, we would qualify for tax free. You don't have to tell me twice. When we came back, I chose a little soft slip bag to put my lip balm in and they packaged it up so nicely. It was beautiful and for $40, I didn't think it was too expensive. It was definitely a nice gift to myself haha.

Yelp
Cool hand customizations of trinkets and gifts.. the down side is the extremely long wait outside.. I can't down rate them for the wait. Scaling up to serve more clients might compromise their unique quality.

Yelp
Great service !! Quality products and such a fun experience ! If you are in Paris try to make an appointment because they get busy.

Yelp
I came in here recently just wanting to browse, but ended to making an impulse purchase. This shop came highly recommended to me by our tour guide, the real Emily in Paris, so I was curious to see what the fuss was about. The shop itself is absolutely beautiful. Full of neat things to look at, there's something on every shelf that catches your eye. The shop people working the day I visited were extremely nice and friendly. They were also patient with me as I tried to communicate what I wanted in French. Embossing and engraving takes 5 minutes, and engraving adds 5€ to your bill. There's a calligrapher on hand that can add some flair to your gift's gift tag. Beautiful products and I will definitely be a repeat customer!

Yelp
On a trip with my girls to Paris, this was at the top of their to-do list. I did not expect to enjoy the experience as I do not use perfume. Each of us purchased perfume, body oil, and lotion. We got there before they opened and a little line started developing about 10 minutes before they open. Once we were in the store, we each got our own gracious associate. Despite the growing line, we were not rushed. We felt very welcomed. Each of our items were personalized by a professional scribe. I wish I did my research in advance. I would have purchased hairbrushes and razors as gifts. My tips would be to check out their website and familiarize yourself with their products. A handful of individuals had placed their orders in advance. An option if you despise lines. Next, plan to arrive early (I don't know if as the day goes on, the line subsides).

Yelp
- Candle in CAMPAGNE D'ITALIE scent - Bottle lotion in Lichen D'ecosse Parfum De Peau The store is steeping in tradition and the ornate EVERYTHING is quite intimidating.. but the staff were exceptionally helpful to a total novice in Europe!

Yelp
I visited the location 6 Rue Bonaparte in Paris yesterday. The young lady that attended the line was very polite and informative. The sales associate that processed my order was very helpful and kind.

Yelp
Hello! My friends and I came here last weekend and we were very excited to make some purchases-- both for ourselves and for family back home. We got there at 11am on the dot, which is what the sign outside the door said were the correct hours of operation. When we got there, a worker walked up and told us it opened at 12, totally fine and not an issue. We decided to go do the rest of our shopping and come back. We come back at 5:20, and there is a line out the door. There were two people in front of us. A worker with terrible hair and big ugly glasses comes outside and informed us that they close at 5:45 and we will likely not get into the store. We were very confused and told her about how we were here first thing in the morning and were very excited to get our loved ones little goodies, and said we would wait in line. Keep in mind, only two people ahead of us and 25 minutes until "close". The very kind security guard also told us to stay in line. 20 minutes pass by, and the two in front of us have been let in and MANY people have come out. During this time, Ms. Bad Hair comes out multiple times and is so RUDE to us, at one point aggressively gesturing to my friend that we need to be in a single file line... on the street..... Even the security guard was sick and tired of her nonsense at this point and rolled his eyes at her and apologized to us. After what was her very obviously running out the clock, she comes out at 5:47pm and tells us we can go inside the store to look and cannot buy anything. We go inside and tell the other ladies it's our last day in Paris, we were really looking forward to this/have been in line, and if they can accommodate us in anyway. They were also rude! The business missed out on a lot of money. Very bad service from everyone but the security guard-- he needs a raise just for his kindness. A 0/10 experience from a place that was one of the main things we had on our itinerary, Officine Universelle Buly is a renowned Parisian staple that needs to hire much better people or else they run the risk of ruining their reputation.

Yelp
Beautiful well crafted soaps, decadent perfumes and stylized products. Bought myself brush my scalp loves and many personalized gifts for family. They loved their personalized embossing lip balm tins.

Yelp
One of the most beautiful stores I visited in Paris -you can see why they have been around since 1803! Just walking in felt like an oasis from the chaos of the city - classical music complimented and look & feel of the space. I almost felt like I had entered a time machine and had stepped back in time. Definitely had the feel of an old school parfumerie. The employees were chic, warm & welcoming. I loved all the details, thought & care that went into the packaging. A lot of the purchases are customizable and can be monogrammed on site. An on-site calligrapher wrote the most beautiful name card for mom, included with purchase. It's easy to spend way too many Euros in this place...but absolutely worth a visit when in Paris!!

Yelp
I waited years to visit this beautiful store. The staff was so helpful and I left with a wonderful smelling lotion.

Yelp
This a a REAL old-school Parisian "pharmacie". The brand started (I think) in the early 1800's and it died out for a bit but in recent years the name has been revived and they could not have done a better job. Walk in and this is really like an old apothecary. With wooden cabinets, marble counter tops, bottles and vials of perfumes, natural oils and powders, Maison Buly published a "New Atlas of Beauty" where it details the medicinal and curative properties of things like Neem leaves from India or Argan oil or Betontite clay. And then it's up to you to decide what you need because, let's face it, everyone's skin is as individual as you are. And you can buy the powders and oils that you need to make your masks here, along with their combs, brushes, toothpastes and flavored dental floss. Their perfumes are very popular and many of them when I came were sold out particularly the Rose de Damas and the Mexican Heliotrope. I bought some of their apple and orange toothpastes and a few vials of the natural oils and they have been very useful and fun to use. The service is very attentive and friendly. While it's not cheap, if something works, stick to it.

Yelp
I've shopped at this store in years past. After receiving some high-profile press, I think it's having a "moment", which it deserves! The shop is LOVELY. The staff is so helpful and every purchase is made special whether you are spending 22 euros or 222 euros. If bringing many of their products home to California were easier, I'd bring home the toothpaste, the nail polish, the mouthwash and some candles. Men love this shop!
