Visited on 28/6/24 for a birthday celebration Staff were very attentive and extremely hospitable. We spoke both English and Mandarin to them and they had no trouble mixing up both languages reciting their spiels for each dish. Dishes were elegant despite showcasing strong flavours, which we thoroughly enjoyed (special mentions to Nduja Cuttlefish Pasta and Yu-lu Duck), together with well thought out wine/cocktail pairings. Staff also kindly extended complimentary dessert and Kavalan Whiskey shots for our celebration. Easy recommendation for anyone looking for a good time.

Somehow very difficult to get a booking. The food was decent and interesting wine list, but there were some hits and misses. Seems need to improve on consistency. Maybe it's the concept they are going for, services were a little lacking and there are some design/layout flaws. Anyway, overall still an enjoyable dinner but with the price and ranking, one would expect more...

Mume is hidden in a small alley in the Da'an District. The photos in the Michelin App do promise a lot. The marble wall with the engraved Mume name looks luxurious, but if you look sideways through the windows you see a lot of rubbish such as plastic bags and the like. The welcome was very friendly and we were given a table near the open kitchen. The overall interior is quite dark and so is the lighting. The menu consists of nine courses and we chose a matching wine pairing. The dishes and presentation were nice and many delicious local ingredients were used. The wines were carefully selected and paired very well with the various dishes. The service was good and the dishes and wines were well explained. Next to our table was a rack with many stacks of plates wrapped in plastic foil. We thought this sight looked rather messy and cheap. The seating was from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM and the staff made us feel somewhat rushed to hurry up with the food, which did not give us a relaxed feeling. The price quality was reasonable, but for more than 220 euros per person you get the same or even better in a 1 star Michelin restaurant in Europe. I would have liked to give 5 stars, but due to the messy appearance, the rushing and the price-quality ratio, it is reduced to 4…

Visited in Aug 2024 for dinner Mume was my best dining experience during my visit to Taipei. Food, service, and ambience is top notch here. I am very surprised that Mume does not have a Michelin star as the experience here was better than a couple of Michelin star places I visited in Taipei. The tasting menu at Mume uses local Taiwanese ingredients whilst using modern European/Nordic cooking techniques for the dishes. The meal starts out with a couple of starter bites and then goes on to a good mix of meat and seafood dishes. I really liked the duck main course. For drinks, I went with a couple of cocktails which were nice. All in all, Mume is a fantastic fine dining establishment and I can understand why it can consistently featured in the Asia top 50 list for the last few years. This place is a definite recommendation to folks visiting Taipei.
