Molly's Rise and Shine is a quirky Garden District breakfast haven serving up inventive dishes like deviled egg tostadas alongside hearty classics in a nostalgic, colorful setting.
"Turns out the follow-up to nationally buzzed-about Turkey and the Wolf is not to be missed, also — it offers a similarly unexpected approach but this time for breakfast. Dishes range from an on-brand Grand Slam McMuffin (pork patties, hashbrown, onions, American cheese), to less expected options, like the carrot yogurt, a light and refreshing bowl of yogurt, granola, fruit, carrot marmalade, herbs, and lemon zest. Both are customer favorites that have stayed on the menu, but expect swaps and specials here." - Clair Lorell, Beth D'Addono, Eater Staff
"Molly’s Rise and Shine is the breakfast spot from Mason Hereford, the chef behind left-field sandwich shop Turkey & the Wolf. His penchant for creativity is apparent even in the decor, with colorful murals and impossibly cool thrift-store finds. The menu is on the playful side, with zesty roasted carrot yogurt, a sweet potato burrito, and whirled peas on toast. There are also slightly more traditional options, including the Grand Slam McMuffin, bagels, and an unbelievable deviled egg tostada. Molly’s doesn’t have a liquor license, so you’ll have to bring your own vodka if you want to amp up that excellent virgin Bloody Mary. House-made sodas, fresh OJ, and coffee round out the offerings." - Paul Oswell
"If Turkey and the Wolf is the successful sandwich firstborn, and Hungry Eyes is the drinks and snacks ‘80s wild child, Molly’s is the breakfast middle sibling of this restaurant group’s family. But make no mistake: this spot in the Garden District doesn’t play second fiddle to anybody when it comes to the morning meal. That’s because plates of country ham with hollow cheese puffs, fried chicken biscuits, and their take on a grand slam McMuffins studded with an American flag are so good. Plus, walking in feels like you set a time machine to 1991—there’s so much ‘80s and ‘90s ephemera scattered everywhere throughout the dining room. You’ll find a Nickelodeon “Guts” Aggro Crag trophy on the long shelf, a Michael Bolton READ poster from the American Library Association on the wall, and a life-size E.T. statue standing watch over the kitchen." - megan braden perry

"Molly’s Rise and Shine, the second restaurant from chef Mason Hereford, does for breakfast what the original, Turkey and the Wolf in the Irish Channel, did for lunch. Biscuits and English muffins are the liferafts for spicy hot chicken, Benton’s country ham, and thick-cut bacon with eggs. Vegetarian and vegan options are solid, like the famed carrot yogurt. Why shouldn’t breakfast have dessert? The homemade pop tarts are the best." - Beth D'Addono
