Really cute place. Service and food was a little slow but the food was really good. We ordered the ceviche trio and it all tasted different, in a good way. Not the typical lemony ceviche that you get. The wagyu carpaccio was ok, the beef was cut too thin so didn't capture a lot of flavors. The short rib was pretty tasty. The meat was tender and sauce was good. I'd go back to try the other dishes. Oh if you like your cocktails stiff, this is the place. Dang was hard to down it but 1 drink got us buzz. 😜

Honestly I think the previous chef was better. Trio ceviche was disappointing, not sure why they had to add a vegetarian version. Happy hour was cute but the quality of food wasn’t there. Maybe because it’s happy hour food? The beef tongue and short ribs were nice. Beef tongue was the best dish. Their fried rice was also interesting but great. I’d recommend the beef tongue, short rib and the rice. The rest were mediocre.

Went here for our anniversary dinner a few weeks ago. We sat inside on the high tops. Great ambiance. Restaurant wasn’t too busy, service was a little slow. Took about 20 minutes after we sat down to get our server to take our drink order. But overall the dining experience was good. Would certainly go again.

The food was amazing!! The service was great as well which always makes the experience that more enjoyable!! The food is served tapas style. Drinks were so good and refreshing. Jess was our waitress and she was so nice and helpful and recommended us a few things!! The atmosphere is nice they played really good music. Definitely will go again!

We were craving some Peruvian foods and this restaurant did a great job with the flavours. The food was excellent and the service was great. Everything was cooked to perfection. The fish was crispy on the outside and super tender on the inside. I really enjoyed the experience here! The patio atmosphere is really nice. It's set out towards the alley so you're shaded from the sun. Plenty of dining space in the patio but be sure to make a reservation first. The menu was all digital with a QR code which was a really nice addition to keeping things hands free as much as possible. Branzino was delicious!

The atmosphere of the restaurant is so romantic and beautiful! The food was incredible! definitely a must try. Drinks were delicious and unique. My favorite was the senor dynamite! Fav dish has to me the king fish ceviche! Perfect date night spot! Will come back for sure

BUT! waitresses here, is next level. They catch your needs right away!!!!!! Especially the waitress who served us today (braided hair) has a beautiful attitude. (The owner of the restaurant, please compensate her.) I was extremely surprised that I didn't have to call them for help. Amigos, please go to this place and enjoy your dinner!!!!!

The food was amazing, they were on point with flavours and seasoning. Also, don't forget to order their drinks. Our server (forgot her name) was friendly and chill, she has been great all night. Anyways, I highly recommend this place for birthdays, dates or any special occasion. Will definitely come back here. 😊

I had an amazing time at Mira during a recent visit to Toronto. The food, ambiance, and service was amazing. The bartender Keenen took care of me and gave me great recommendations for food and cocktails. I ordered for the empanadas, broccolini, and corn. All three dishes were so flavorful and just as Keenen had described them. The restaurant is nicely decorated and provides a nice dining experience whether you are dining alone or with friends. If I am ever back in Toronto I will definitely make my way back to Mira. Ask for Keenen he is an amazing bartender and overall pleasure to talk to.

Food: 5/5 Came for a girls night and ordered (almost) everything off the happy hour menu to share, as well as a good portion from the regular menu. Here is a breakdown: - Vieira (scallop + rocoto tiger's milk, pickled red onion, squid ink cracker) - very nice ceviche dish with fresh seafood and a great sauce. - King fish ceviche - also good, but we preferred the scallop. - Shishito peppers - regular peppers, nothing special. - Cerdo Nikkei (cured pork belly) - melt-in-your-mouth and bursting with flavour, a must-try. - Empanada de Pollo - sounds like a simple dish, but the chicken was tender and had a charred taste making it stand out from the typical empanada. - Yucca Rellena (short rib) - the aioli paired with the scallions gave it a rich umami profile, another favourite of the group. - Arroz Azafran (saffron rice) - arrived on a stone plate which gives it a smokey scent, good rice dish but not extraordinary. - Spanish Octopus - octopus was slightly overcooked. - Build-your-own platter of anticuchos (short rib, beef heart, pollo) - the short rib was the star of the trio both in flavour and tenderness, but the BBQ chicken was unexpectedly tasty as a close second). - Ribeye w/ veal jus - delicious and cooked perfectly to a medium rare. - El Huevo Malo - we anticipated a small chocolate shell approximately 2 servings in size, but were served a ginormous party-sized dessert. After breaking apart the shell with a spoon, a goat cheese cake and raspberry sorbet sat within with rose-soaked berries. Due to the sheer amount of dessert we had ordered, we finished less than half of this dish. - Dulce de Leche (w/ red wine sauce) - Amor Con Choco (chocolate three ways) - Picarones (Peruvian fried donuts) - nothing beats freshly fried donuts with cinnamon sugar, came with white chocolate ice cream. Drinks: 5/5 I ordered a Señorita Mysteria and a Nazca. Both were delicious, boozy, and consisted of complex ingredients. Since we arrived during the happy hour, the price was more than fair for a craft cocktail. They also prepare cocktails based on personal preferences if you tell them what you generally like. Will definitely be back to try more on the list. Atmosphere: 5/5 Cozy and elegant atmosphere with tasteful music. Even as the dinner rush started, the tables were spaced well enough so that it was not overly crowded. Service: 5/5 The servers were friendly and great with recommending cocktails. Food arrived at a good pace and in a steady flow of dishes - we were never waiting long for any of the courses.

My group of 6 came for dinner on a Wednesday night right before the end of the year/holidays. We had a reservation, but I noticed the restaurant was still quiet around 6pm and started to fill up within the next hour. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant! It started right when you entered through a slightly hidden walk way in a side alley that was lined with lanterns. The inside was decorated with lots of twinkle lights, candles, and garlands for the holiday season. What we ordered (shared family style): - Edamame - Wagyu Tataki - Shishito Peppers - Ceviche Trio (Lychee + Scallop + Salmon) - Yucca Fries - Pollo a la Brassa - Branzino - Tres Leches My favs: - Edamame is a simple starter but it was very well seasoned - Scallop ceviche was my favorite out of the trio - Wagyu tataki was great with the citrus of the ponzu and crunch from the crispy shallots - Pollo was okay but the potato pancake side it came with was great. Like a mash potato with an almost tartness that made it very interesting Final thoughts: Great vibes for a date night or special dinner. Some of the plates were great, others were just okay and I was expecting more at this price point. For the price, I do think you can get better value elsewhere but I'd come again.

Location: 4 Located in a quaint, charming alleyway in older downtown Toronto's Fashion District. We walked from our hotel but judging from the area street parking could be a challenge. Venue: 5 Trendy and very nicely decorated and well-appointed. Medium-sized venue with indoor and outdoor seating options. They do take reservations, which is highly recommended. Ambiance: 4 Trendy and upscale. Service: 4 Professional and courteous. Very attentive. Food: 4 The cuisine is a unique blend of Peruvian and Japanese food. Offerings range from small plates to individual meals. Our server recommended that we take 2 to 3 small plates per person, which we did. I have posted pictures of what we ordered, and they all looked good and tasted great. Ingredients were of highest quality and very fresh. We had the $32 (CAD) dessert El Huevo Malo which is a huge ball of chocolate full of sweets! It is enough for 4 or more people and it was a unique experience where you have to break the chocolate bar to partake in the goodies held within :) Drinks: 4 Large selection of unique, tasty and good-looking signature drinks, sake, wine and beer. Priced above average. The mixologist delivered every specialty cocktail himself and it was obvious that he was very proud of his unique creations! The last word: 4 All in all, a great unique dining adventure. Presentation and flavors were spot on. Definitely recommended!

We tried 7 different dishes and everything was tasty. The yucca frittas we our least favourite, a bit bland but the dipping sauces were yummy. Great variety of dishes at this Peruvian/Japanese restaurant. Very friendly service and nice decor. Great selection of interesting cocktails too. Scallop ceviche was silky and delicious. Waygu beef was delicious with the fried onion crisps. Short rib with sweet potato was amazing too! Definitely worth checking out Mira!

The entrance to Mira is hidden on a side alleyway with minimal signage (look for string lights!) I came here on a Tuesday night with two girlfriends, and Mira was not very busy. Our waiter was super nice and attentive throughout the evening. He recommended ordering 2-3 dishes per person. We opted for: - Hiramusa (King Fish) Ceviche: I wasn't too familiar with the ingredients of this ceviche, but combined together, it still felt quite classic to me - great refreshing appetizer - Costilla Anticucho: Peruvian skewers were a hit - the meat was very tender, and the sweet potato toppings added a nice crunch - Arroz Azafrán (Saffron Rice): compared to the rest of our dishes, I didn't find this rice to be very flavourful - probably would pass on this one next time - Yucca Fritas: not sure if I've had yucca fries before, but the texture was very satisfying - slightly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside - Maíz: despite its simplicity, I thoroughly enjoyed this corn dish Throwback R&B was playing throughout dinner (not complaining as this is my favourite genre of music) but it did make me wonder about the authenticity of this restaurant. I guess it fits with the neighbourhood! Mira is slightly pricier than your average joint, but the quality is higher than other restaurants in the nearby King West area (and has cute llama motifs throughout).

This place was pretty underwhelming, the food was good, nothing too memorable, and the drinks were good. We came for dinner, but I think next time we just come late night for some appys and drinks.

Food was good, I really enjoyed the dessert, which was a chocolate ball that you smash and it's full of all these sweets. The carpaccio and ceviches are also good to order. It is a nice date night vibe but the bathrooms were not particularly clean. Service was good and waiters were friendly.

I think I would have had a better experience if I didn't tripped because of seating design. We got a high table for 6, we were seated in the corner by the end of the bar. I decided to sit on the wall side. As I was trying to move in, there was a gap between the step, my foot slipped between the gap and my body hit against the table hard and now I have a big bruise on my abdomen. The steps should have been made from one end of the wall to the other wall instead of having gaps in between them. Other then that, food was good. The ceviches was yummy but I feel it's missing the Peruvian flavours. Octopus was cooked to perfection, not chewy. The Wagyu was my favorite dish. Pisco Sour is always a must. The sauce for the plantain chip was delicious.

I have been telling everyone I know from Toronto about Mira. Their food was amazing. B and I came here for dinner on a Friday night at around 9 pm ish and the place was packed. The ambience was great here. It can be a bit loud but it is somewhat a bar that serves fusion food. They have really delicious cocktails. Food and drinks are on the expensive side here. We ordered the following: Plaintain Chips Short ribs Chicken B got the Rumbera Reviver Every dish was amazing and super flavorful. The short ribs and the chicken were served on a skewer. The meat were very tender and juicy. The plaintain chip dip was amazing. I loved it. The restauarant is $$$$ quite pricy but it is definitely worth trying once. Service was great here. This is my first time having Peruvian + Japanese Fusion food. I loved it!

Beautiful restaurant, excellent service, delicious food. We would definitely return. I had this bookmarked for a while and picked it because it wasn't too far from the theatre. It is on Wellington, west of Spadina. I am sensitive to raw onions and they were terrific accommodating me. Everything was really good, but the standout were the tuna tostada, cauliflower and apparently the scallop ceviche.

We visited this place on Sunday evening for dinner. The restaurant is hidden on a side lane between King and Wellington. Overall ambiance is good and food has small portions. You will need to order at least 2 dishes per person. The cocktails are amazing and innovative. I maybe not try this again, but definitely worth one time experience.

Came for dinner on a Sunday night with reservations on the recommendation of my son who fined her 2 nights prior. Everyone was super nice and bartending manager Nick was very helpful. The chef was kind enough to come chat with us. Each dish was flavourful and aromatic. Our server listed off every item that could be gf and vegan for me. The corn was delicious, saffron rice flavourful and vegan yucca fries hit the spot. No desserts were suitable for me but my dining companions devoured them. The gang enjoyed a variety of cocktails too. It was very expensive but the quality and experience were worth it. Honestly the best meal I've had in ages!

Loved our experience here! Ceviche is one of my faves and this did not disappoint, though none of us liked the crackers that came with the salmon. The chicken was just okay, but the ribeye was better. The Maracuyano cocktail was really good and lastly, I appreciated how it wasn't too loud in here.

The food was so fresh and amazing! Drinks were great as well. Ambiance was beautiful and very different. Our server was extremely informative and helped us ALOT with our choices. I wish I could've tried the desert but I was stuffed looked awesome too.

Mira has a great vibe and good food! We came here for a friend's birthday dinner and had a great time. The ambiance is intimate and you can tell there was a lot of thought put into incorporating Peruvian decor - even down to the framed textiles in the bathrooms! The standouts on the menu for me were the tuna tostada, short ribs, and the chocolate 3-ways dessert. The dessert was mind-blowing level of good and very decadent, the tuna had the right balance of flavours, and the short ribs just melted in your mouth. The yucca fries were a disappointment and the sauces they were paired with lacked any real flavour. Would definitely recommend and look forward to being back! I don't recall the name of our server but she was EXCELLENT. Super friendly, had great recommendations, and was on top of everything in terms of timing of the dishes, checking in on us, refreshing our drinks... what a gem, and she brought our experience to the next level.

Ridiculously good. The vibe is awesome - super cool, tattoo-inspired decor. Bartenders made amazing recommendations. Must haves: Vieira ceviche - thick fresh pieces of seafood, squid ink cracker is a cool extra little touch. Tuna tostada - has a great spicy kick to it, super fresh, love the creaminess. Wagyu - beautifully cooked to the perfect doneness, juicy, flavourful. Maiz - crunchy yet juicy, sweet & salty, rich & creamy. 10/10. And don't you dare miss the Maracuyano cocktail - it's so refreshing, a great selection for anyone who loves mojitos & Moscow mules.

Great ambiance here, very fun but a little loud. Everyone here was very hospitable and kind, someone was always refilling our water even if they weren't our waitress. It was great. The scallop ceviche was my favourite app and the branzino was my favourite main. The scallop ceviche was a good portion of scallop and the lime flavours worked so well together, very refreshing, ended up ordering two of these. The squid ink rice cracker it comes with, was fun to snack on too. The branzino was grilled to perfection, nicely deboned and presented well, I love the miso sauce it comes with but I didn't pour everything on because it was a little salty, nice to have a bit to give it the flavor but it was good without it even. The salmon ceviche was also nice and refreshing but it didn't wow me nor did the wagyu tatami which I was very disappointed with. The tuna tostada with avocado was creamy and delicious, I really enjoyed this and the tostada was very complementary. Finally I was not going to get dessert but everyone I saw, would order the amore con coco and I didn't want to miss out. It was a good decision, it was so good, bit of differently flavor profiles and not too sweet! I quite enjoyed it! Overall 8/10 would recommend

The food was good. Ceviche was fresh. The other main dish Trucha was great, with crispy skin with well-cooked meat, seasoned perfectly so that we were also to taste the fish meat itself without feeling fishy. Great ambiance, and outstanding service. Overall great dining experience.

Delicious food, cozy almost hidden patio and friendly, attentive staff. We had visitors from out of town - and everyone enjoyed their food, even the five year old. :)

In terms of the food, the dish I enjoyed most was the short rib. The saffron rice was quite flavorless, while the others, especially the quinoa salad, had quite strong flavors that I personally was not a huge fan of. The service was great but the dishes were incredibly slow (the whole dinner took 2.5 hours). The high top chairs were also not comfortable to sit in for such a long time. The ambience is great though and is great for date night.

Went here for a friends birthday, specifically for the chocolate ball dessert. The dessert alone was spectacular, and would recommend that. Its basically a giant bowling ball sized chocolate, which when smashed has chocolate cake on the inside, along with ice cream, yuzu marmalade and raspberry among other little treats. As for the 4/5 and not 5/5, some of my friends ordered steaks, and I would say the prices are bit crazy/overpriced, as by comparison to the best steakhouses in Toronto (which are cheaper) the quality is not as good.

One of the best Peruvian Japanese cuisines I've ever had! The cocktail drinks are so fun and delicious, with great customer service. It's a cute quaint place for date nights or special events.

We were visiting Toronto and looking for a different restaurant with great reviews. The ambiance was very nice, great for people watching and the food was top notch. We found it difficult to choose items on the menu because the descriptions were made up of words we didn't recognize, however, everything we tried was delicious! We went on a very hot July day and the servers kept our waters (and other drinks) filled.

Classy South American spot with an intimate dining room and a small but lively patio in the summer. My second time here, we ordered the Mira ceviche with pickled onion, sweet potato and avocado. It had a really balanced flavour between the citrus and the sweetness. We were offered a small bowl of roasted peanuts topped with cayenne pepper for a little crunchiness to boot. Also had the salmon teriyaki, which was flaky, tender and tangy. The cauliflower was lightly roasted with a generous helping of almonds and a mild chimichurri sauce and some cream. The fried chicken is also great...crispy and peppery! For dessert, the mango with vanilla ice cream in a chocolate egg shell was creamy, cocoa bitter and sweet. Good tequila based cocktails and a South American wine list. You'd need about 2-3 dishes per person for a full meal working out to $50-$80 a head before tax. Friendly service and super savvy!

There are not enough good things to say about this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. And, our group thoroughly enjoyed a bit of everything on the menu. It was just an overall excellent experience.

I was craving ceviche and Mira was the only place downtown that seemed like it would have a good selection. Boy was I wrong. I felt like I was having dinner at a club - the restaurant was blasting hip hop music at a volume hard to speak over. The waiter recommended 2-3 dishes per person, which was surprising considering the price point of each dish. I had the Mira ceviche and the Costilla antichucho. The Mira ceviche was bland and small. The costilla was larger than the ceviche and the meat was super tender but unfortunately also bland. I think it could've had more sauce. I didn't get the chance to try any cocktails but they had a enticing list of drinks. There was nothing else on the menu that really grabbed my attention enough to want to come back and give it a second try.

This review is for the cocktails, ambiance and our bartender Devin! We were eyeing the garden patio but unfortunately all spots were reserved! We sat by the bar as that was the only available walk-in option and it turned out to be awesome time because of our bartender/server!! The food came a bit cold and overcooked, but the sauce was good. We also ordered the yucca fries, which surprised me with its crispy exterior and pillow-y interior. So different from the yucca fries I had from a different Peruvian restaurant. Not in the area often but would be a nice place to grab a drink before continuing with the rest of the evening! Service has generally been pretty good during covid across all my dining experiences so far! Will continue to support our local restaurants!

Wonderful. Literally everything we ate here was wonderful. A bit on the pricy side but worth every penny. Favourites : wagyu tataki!!! Must get it or you will regret it! It actually came in a fairly generous size as well. We also surprisingly loved the empanadas as well. Other things we had: plantain chips, shishito peppers, and the pork belly - all yummy but I'd skip the peppers next time. We had everything family / tapas style between two people and were full by the end of it. As for ambiance: it's a pretty popular place- which makes it a lively but a bit loud. Super cute and would definitely come here again.

Trying Peruvian cuisine for the first time. It was a nice change from our usual Japanese, Chinese or Vietnamese places. This is a great place to hang out with friends. The atmosphere was very lively and cozy. They had a nice small patio seatings which was completely full. The only downside to the patio was the restaurant is kind of in an alley way which isn't facing anything interesting. I have to really praise their service to be one of the best that I've experienced. Our server Stacey was outstanding. She was very helpful from the very beginning giving us great food suggestions and came by throughout the night to clear our table after 2 or 3 dishes and refilling our water. We probably had our plates and cutlery changed 5 or 6 times. We ordered 13 dishes including desserts which seems like a lot but it was Tapas style so dishes were small so it was just enough for the 5 of us. The food was well prepared with great flavours. Here are the dishes that I liked the most: 1) Altamar ceviche - red snapper 2) Asparagus (daily special) 3) Maize - grilled corn 4) Paleta - wagyu beef 5) El Huevo Malo - a large Chocolate egg, hallow inside coated with raspberry, honey comb and filled with a scoop of Coffee ice cream and chocolate ranfanote (crunchy peruvian bread pudding) which was the best part! Highly recommend.

Mira has all the potential elements of being an excellent meal experience. The area is popular, the atmosphere is lovely and the food plating is instagram worthy. However, our recent visit had a few missed notes and lacked a couple details that made for a lackluster experience. We arrived on a Friday night for a early dinner. The dining area was half empty still with only a handful of groups scattered around the area. Of all the empty tables we could have been seated at, they sat us right by the busy stairs where service staff was constantly walking back and forth. The endless stream of foot steps were right by our ears the whole time, and 10 minutes in I couldn't stand it anymore and asked to be moved one table over. They were happy to oblige, but I found it unsettling that we were seated at literally the worst table when there were multiple others available. Of the 5 dishes we ordered, I liked the coliflor and the cachangas peruanas dessert the most. The coliflor was roasted perfectly and I liked the addition of nuts to provide additional texture. The cachagas peruanas was full of contrasting flavors and bright fruits, which was a delightful light dessert. However, the ceviches was lacking bright flavors, the chicken skewer was a bit too charred and the truncha came with a strange yellow sauce that did not bring anything to the dish. 2 out of 5 is not a good score, especially at this level of food experience. I left feeling that it was an okay meal, but wished that it could have been more.

I heard Toronto has some great Peruvian food but I didn't specifically look up any places before my visit. Since the line at Pai was so long, I started looking through Yelp for other options. That's when I found Mira on a Sunday night. It was hard to find since the front door was down a small street that looked like an alleyway. Regardless, it was worth the efforts to find. It is near this place called Ping Pong, which has a more prominent sign from the street. It was hopping on a Sunday night. Granted, I was there for a conference and I presume most of the people were there for the same reasons as me. We did not have reservations but in the future, you need a reservation to eat here. Fortunately, there were seats at the bar so that's where we were seated. You get full service at the bar. We met Alex, the bartender that crafted all of drinks of their cocktail menu. He is a talented fellow and provided great service to us the whole time we were there. I hope he gets recognition for being an asset to the restaurant. I ordered from the Anticuchos secton of the menu, which basically means street fare food. I got the Costillas, which consisted of "short rib + rocoto marinade + truffle huancaína + sweet potato." It is not that big but sometimes, food is about the quality not quantity. The short rib was melt in your mouth delicious. The sweet potato was finely shredded on top. It is more of an appetizer type dish but I wasn't that hungry so that amount of food was perfect. The cost was CA $19. I ordered a House Special cocktail called the Victoria, inclusive of "pisco + aji amarillo + pineapple honey syrup + pineapple + lime juice (2oz)." The cost was CA $17. There was a definitive kick from the pink pepper used as a garnish. This was the first time I had pisco, which is a amber brandy. Pisco has a clean cut taste. I was just going to have my short rib and cocktail but when Alex asked if we wanted dessert, he gave us his best recommendation. He suggested Amor con Coco and I was convinced to try it. THANK GOODNESS I did! The dessert is described on the menu as "three ways of Peruvian chocolate + vanilla ice cream + candy stevia + amaranth crunch." The textures, variation of flavors, and overall cohesiveness made for one well composed dessert. Do I dare say it was one of the best desserts I've ever had? I do dare to say and I'd double down on that statement any day! It was CA $13. I would swim in that dessert all day long. It was worth every penny! I was thoroughly impressed with this place that I found on a whim on Yelp. Thank goodness for Yelp and good food! #fortheloveoffood #foodie

This was one of my favorite meals ever, and certainly the best I had in Toronto! The short ribs and sweet potatoes (costilla) were delicious, and I typically hate sweet potatoes. Both drinks (beso picante and señor dynamite) were dangerous-- crazy tasty and didn't taste much of alcohol. The dessert (amor con choco) was probably more than one person should have consumed alone, but I regret nothing. (Some elements were soft and silky, some bitter, some crunchy-- honestly excellent.) I forgot to take a picture of the corn (maíz), but it was also yummy. At the end of the day, the thing that REALLY made this visit, though, was the service. The hostess, waitstaff-- all excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, and my water glass was never empty. Two giant thumbs up. If I'm ever in Toronto again, I'm coming back.

Mira is a great Peruvian restaurant tucked away in a lane between King West and Wellington West. The room is warm and welcoming with a cheerful busy vibe. The food selection included both standards like ceviche as well as creative dishes, and all are flavorful. You can't go wrong. Drinks menu has some unique choices as well as conventional cocktails, wines and beers. I had a delicious Katana cocktail (two actually) that included jalapeño tequila and sake. Friendly fast service. Definitely need reservations.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Mira. It's a Peruvian restaurant with a T tapas-style menu from Chef Stuart Cameron - ex Byblos and Patria. Its located off an alley, so you have to look carefully to find it. The space is small and intimate and was a former nightclub. There are ceviches - we tried the Mango Ceviche - Goose berry tigers milk + radish + pomegranate + crispy mango, the Mira Ceviche (market fish) + sweet potato + leche de tigre + criollo + concha corn (our favourite of the two) and the Pulpo - Spanish octopus + red and yellow ají + purple potato. (excellent) We also tried the Cerdo - Suckling pig + quinoa fried rice + ramen glaze + rocoto jam (our favourite dish of the evening), Costillas - Short rib + rocoto marinade + truffle huancaína + sweet potato (was just ok on this night. Overcooked and dry) As sides, we tried Coliflor - Roast cauliflower + ajo blanco + concord grape (our least favourite of all the dishes. lacked flavour) and the Con Setas - Wild mushrooms + truffle + huitlacoche + artichokes We had eight dishes in total (for four of us) and left satisfied but not stuffed.

Came here for their set menu, and everything was quite good! I felt the desserts and side dishes were better done; the mains were slightly less impressive. My main qualm is that the meal was very lean and didn't feel particularly substantial. It could have benefited from slightly more carbs. Also, the sharing plates were very tapas style and therefore quite small; I do believe the men in our party weren't completely satisfied and full. In fact, I got full only on dessert alone. First course Nikkei Tuna Ceviche I honestly really liked this dish - I felt the Japanese flavours and accents to this Peruvian dish was very well done. It was quite spicy due to the togarashi, but it was delicious and very addicting! Mango Ceviche This vegetarian ceviche provided a well needed balanced counterpart to the spicy tuna ceviche. The mango was delightfully sweet and so plump and juicy! The crystallized sugar provided a nice crispy then chewy texture. Second course Cordero anticucho This lamb loin was very well marinated and quite juicy. It had a very rich flavour profile, so the yogurt helped mute the heaviness with its slightly tangy taste. The lamb skewers were finished in record time! Solterito de quinoa This was undoubtedly one of my favourite dishes of the night! The puffed grains made the overall quinoa texture amazingly crispy and fun, and the pomegranate bits added a lovely pop of sweetness. This was the best quinoa I've ever had; it wasn't dry by any means, and the dressing was light and refreshing. Third course Trucha This trout, though moist, was a very small and measly portion. I found the flavour to be fairly muted - I wish the fish were crispier and a little tastier. Pollo inchapaci Though people raved about this dish, I wasn't the biggest fan. The cornish hen was fat, fairly tender, and soft, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the textures. The taste was a bit too much for my tastes too. Brocoli This broccolini was absolutely delicious! A pity there were only 4 stalks to share between a party of four... There was barely enough for anyone to get a mouthful. Cauliflower I don't understand how they ran out of yucca fries, but they did, and offered us a very small plate of cauliflower as a substitute. While the cauliflower was amazing (I particularly enjoyed the slivered almonds), the portion was terribly small. Dessert Mousse de lucuma The presentation of this dish was lovely - it was moulded and shaped just like a lucuma fruit! Oddly enough, the portion size per dining member increased exponentially once dessert came around. Rather than have 4-5 individuals share a single small tapas plate, 2 people shared a substantially sized dessert! I kid you not when I say that I literally got full off dessert. The passionfruit was a lovely, sweet, and fruity touch, though I really much preferred the subtle sweetness of the lucuma mousse and chocolate shell. The crunchy cacao nibs were amazing! El huevo malo This signature dessert wasn't included in the course menu, but of course we had to order it! The server broke open the chocolate orbital (I witnessed them making it with a balloon) and the shards opened to reveal a beautiful sphere of coffee ice cream surrounded by beautiful bits of red and gold. The coffee ice cream had a rich and earthy flavour - I would totally order it just by itself. I wasn't as big a fan of the brownie bits, but the crunchy sugar coated nuts were truly addicting. The raspberry crunches I could do without, but the honey comb was sweet and chewy and yummy. It's quite a substantial size and great to share among 4-5 people! Overall, it's a very cool restaurant situated in a great venue, albeit a little hard to find. I literally thought I was walking into the wrong place! The food is decent, but the desserts are phenomenal.

Mira continues to be one of my favourite restaurants in the city. The first time we tried it was back in 2020 for my birthday and since the experience and food were superb, we came back to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary. We can't get enough, from the ceviche to the anticuchos to the desserts. It was the perfect t treat for Valentine's Day. Their take on the tres leches from their special dessert selection of the night was the perfect way to end our visit. My most liked drink was Niebla Verde, refreshing and super smooth cocktail. We always recommend this restaurant and will continue to do so. TOP OF THE LIST

The location somewhat hidden. We got the king fish cerviche, empanadas, Yuca fries, half chicken and Branzino. Food is absolutely amazing. What's even more impressive are their cocktails. Pisco Sour super on point. The vibe is lively with relaxing ambience Service is great! Great ambience. Exotic decorations with quiet seating area. Front patio available for summer. Love the dining environment. Food was ok. I have never had Con Setas before so can't judge the dish, it is said on the menu that it was a risotto-typed dish but tasted more like paella to me. Not sure if it was because the pan was sitting on the stove for too long or it was meant to be cooked that way. Personally think the mushrooms didn't have to be fried... would have been less oily if they were simply seasoned and mixed with truffle. Ceviche was fresh. The other main dish Trucha (rainbow trout) was great, crispy skin with well cooked meat, seasoned perfectly so that we were also to taste the fish meat itself without feeling fishy. Have seen many people had El Huevo Malo on Yelp, so I also ordered one for dessert, but turned out that it wasn't my thing... too sweet to me. It indicated on the menu that the dish serves 2, but me and my friend strongly agreed that it could server 4 and more. However, the way they served it was pretty fancy, great for those who have birthday party or want to impress your date. If the chocolate shell could be substituted with cracker, chocolate could go inside with caramel, plus honey comb and marinated raspberry - would have been much better. Overall great dining experience. One star for the ambience, interior design and service.

Mira is great to have a cocktail or 2 and enjoy small plates and big dessert with a friend or 2. That's what I did! Corazón Anticucho ($17.00) beef heart + ají panca + jalapeño salsa Yucca Fries ($9.00) lime huancaina + jalapeño huacatay El Huevo Malo ($14.00) coffee ice cream + chocolate ranfañote + honey comb + yuzu marmalade + raspberry Pillow Talk ($16) tequila + lemon + grand marnier + agave + sauvignon blanc + lavender El Demonio ($16) cucumber-jalapeno infused pisco + lime juice + sugar + egg white + bitters Love the beef heart! But Yucca Fries was disappointing. The "famous" chocolate bomb was ok. The portion was huge as we barely finished that with the 3 of us! I probably would not order that again because of the been that done that factor. Love the Peruvian Latin inspired cocktails. A fun and hip place for a girl's night out or a romantic date. You can reserve your table on Opentable and it is opens late! (+0.5)

This place is absolutely fantastic... Everything from the food taste to the decor and the friendly staff. The food is truly savory and only the highest quality ingredients are used and you can definitely taste the difference! I definitely plan to visit this amazing restaurant again in the future. Hubby and I came here on our last night in Toronto and were really looking forward to the experience. They do sort of pack you in which I'm always bothered by. It didn't help that there was a young woman sitting right next to me who spent the next two hours talking NON-STOP about herself. It also didn't help further when the things she was saying were nonsensical indulgent b.s. Alas, her date who was likely trying to score with her just sat there benevolently agreeing with all the stuff she was saying. Oh, misguided youth! We distracted ourselves from the stuff involuntarily making it into our earholes with Mira's delicious drink and food offerings. Drinks: Ms. Fitz, Villa Maria & New Standard - all highly recommended Food: Jalea Mixta (more for the presentation and delicious dashi-based ponzu sauce; the seafood was somewhat thickly battered. Tuna Crostada: Good and had a kick, definitely on the lighter side Ceviche Trio: Favorite was the nikkei atun but the other two were good, too. Beef Heart: Super tender, basted in like a mole sauce Duck Breast: The duck was good but the fried rice that came with was even better. Suckling Pig: Must have. Period. El Huevo Malo: Order even just for the theatrics. The girls next to us somehow managed to score a freebie dessert (cherimoya custard or something) but stared enviously at our dramatic black chocolate ball. This tasted almost as good as it looked. Service from our main guys was a little tougher to come by. There was an army of managers/bussers that were buzzing around but I felt like they were maybe understaffed, especially after our first server left and Ruiz took over. He looked, at one point, overwhelmed and had to ask a manager to bring me the drink list after I'd asked for it a second time. Other than that, everyone was super nice and friendly. All in all, not a bad way to close out our vacay to Toronto.

I've been here twice and I'll go twice more! This is definitely a hidden gem that does Peruvian food justice! Located off of Wellington - down one alley, turn left, go down the alley with the lanterns, this place will not disappoint. From the moment you enter there is someone at the door to greet you, take your coat and lead you to your table. All with a friendly smile. all the servers are lovely - they check up on you, explain the menu to you, refill you water without having to ask. Honestly, they have upped the customer service game here - they do it well and they do it genuinely! I can't wait to come back when they open the back patio! They have a great drinks menu - most drinks are $15, but they are pretty interesting. I have had the Victoria (has a spicy kick, it's one of their more popular drinks) and one of the Rum drinks (the name escapes me at the moment - I'll update the review when i remember). I preferred the Victoria. Food wise, oh my what haven't i had! I've tried the Conchas - scallops (definitely a must). You get 4 pieces, on the half shell, lots of butter...a whole lot of deliciousness. I've had this twice and will continue to order this. I've had the grouper ceviche and the ceviche trio (grouper, spicy tune and fluke). All the ceviche was fresh and light, with lots of flavours, from spicy to a sweet mily taste. (on my previous visit the server told me they get all their fish fresh, daily). The half cornish game hen I had before was juicy and perfectly cooked. I could have eaten that all day long. The salmon teriyaki anticuchos - it was presented on skewers (I believe it was 4-5 skewers) and cooked perfectly. The Sudado de Pescado which I've had twice as well, was lovely. Perfectly crisp skin, light and flaky fish, the sauce, the plaintain chips, it just all works so well. The 2 desserts i've tried here are the famous chocolate bomb - it looks like a LARGE cadbury egg that they crack open at your table (it could seriously feed 4 people). Inside there is raspberries, honeycomb, yuzu sauce....it all works so well. It comes with a scoop of ice cream - I believe it's a coffe flavoured one - whatever it is, it's delicious. The flavours go together - sweet, tart, crunchy.. It's a party in your mouth! I've also had the Picarones - you get 2 "donuts". Made from sweet potato and squash (yes you read that right, and no you can't tell that's what it is made of if you didn't read the menu). Topped off with pineapple pieces and lucuma ice cream (google lucuma - it kinda looks like a tropical avocado). It's a great dessert b/c it is not overly sweet. The ambiance, the decor, the service (Luis was EXCELLENT - very informative, friendly, offering suggestions) and the food is great. Definitely coming back! Now, I'm going to end this review by saying - it's not cheap considering the portion size - so either expect to spend some $$ to order quite a few things, or be prepared to just get a few items here and you'll probably need to get a bite later on. The portions are definitely on the smaller side, but the quality is phenomenal. Before you leave, make sure you take a picture of the llama!!

I have a couple of friends from Peru and I've had some really good tasting Peruvian food so I was looking forward to checking out Mira, even though this visit was mainly for apps, drinks, and dessert. It's not the easiest place to find, unless you know exactly what you're looking for. The narrow entrance is tucked away in an alley and the only sign (that I saw) was a small one tucked in a few steps from the main walkway. The walk to the door is lined with candles in huge lanterns and a few pendant lights. Very nice. Inside is intimately dark so let your eyes adjust before going too far. It's a nice place. We ordered the Corazón Anticucho (beef heart), Yucca Fries, and then El Huevo Malo (chocolate bomb) for dessert. My companions had cocktails and I had a beer. The beef heart is not my thing but my companions seemed to enjoy it. The yucca fries were okay but I prefer a more rustic version, just sliced and fried. These were more processed into perfectly shaped sticks. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I would have preferred more crispy bits. My companions enjoyed their cocktails while I enjoyed my Asahi beer. Mira was stenciled into the foam on one of the cocktails. Nice touch. The main feature for us was the dessert, El Huevo Malo. It's a hollow chocolate globe with coffee ice cream, honey comb, raspberry, and other treats inside. Think Easter egg. It was cracked open at the table by our server to reveal the contents. The coffee ice cream was strong, like an espresso shot. I liked it. The rest of the dessert was good but maybe didn't live up to the presentation. Overall, it was a good evening, although not as good as I was anticipating. The portions are more like sharing plates (or tapas), not full meals and they're a bit pricey. So were the drinks ($15 for a cocktail). I might come back but it may not be my first choice. 3.5/5

An excerpt from a longer review... "There was a blip in service too, which wasn't surprising given the way our evening started off. About five minutes after our appetizers arrived (we were still eating), our mains landed on the table. Shocked, I asked the server to take them back to la cuisine. She looked at me as if I was from another planet. The service continued to suffer with our appetizer plates sitting around for so long before being cleared that they practically grew mold. Our entrees arrived after waiting almost an hour (encore heureux we had that gigantic glass of wine). The Sudado de Pescado ($26) was a delightful dish featuring striped bass. The accompanying chupe sauce, criollo and Amarillo causa (Peruvian potatoes covered with a spicy sauce) gave the mild-tasting bass a vibrant flavor. Although the plate was quite monochromatic, the deep-fried plantain provided a delicious textural component...."

Mira was an amazingly classy Peruvian place! Loved the set up and decor here. We had to wait for a table for 20 Mins while doing a walk in so decided to sit at the bar instead. The bar tenders were extremely welcoming and attended to our questions and drink/food requests right away. Mira is almost like a speakeasy as it's located in an alley and no sign of it that you can see from Wellington. You need to sort of scavenger hunt for it when the gps shows you that you have reached the location. Once you are near by, you see the sign and can walk in to their hallway which has multiple lanterns. They have an open kitchen and I always get good vibes from places which have open kitchens - it's something about the openness of the layout which instills confidence that the food is made with passion. (Not that you oversee how they make it). We tried the ceviche (well, of course ! It's a Peruvian haven) and got the sentas with the truffle. This is sort of a fried rice with truffles and literally is one of the best rice dishes I have ever tried. Overflowing with savory flavors, you can't go wrong with this one. I am excited to come back and try some more of their food. Perfect for a date night, girls night, after work dinner, or just hangout with close friends. Meets so many criterias!

Mira has been on my list for years, and I wasn't disappointed! Each dish ended up being better than the last. However, I had to dock off one star due to the amount of food given for such a high price. This place is definitely a place to splurge. Dishes come in appetizer amounts/sizes, but with entree prices. We got a ceviche, skewered beef hearts, octopus app, short rib yucca balls, Wagyu app, and the tres leches. We also got a potato side dish - the only disappointing dish of the night. The potatoes definitely needed some sort of sauce as it was spiced, but not enough. Pieces were too large and the spice to potato ratio was off. If you get the tres leches dessert, don't expect the usual sponge cake soaked with milk, it's completely different and more like a chocolate topped cheesecake (without the cheese). Very good, but was not what I expected when ordering.
