"Have a Japanese Pub Dinner Downtown Napa’s Miminashi is an izakaya (like a gastropub that serves Japanese tapas). There are anumber of dishes for everyone to share—a reality that makes the meal eclectic and forces everyone to try different things. Among the more delectable options are yakitori (meat on skewers), ramen or udon, sashimi, and soba pancakes. Chef Curtis DiFede's frozen soft-serve ice cream is one of the most sought-after sweet treats in town, with flavors such as Bing cherry and lemon verbena. The bar program is exceptional, with a sake sommelier and a huge selection of craft sakes from Yamaguchi and other prefectures in Japan. Sit at the bar for attentive service from bartenders and a bird’s-eye view of the kitchen."

Such a wonderful experience all around! Good portion sizes and prices. You must order the crispy potatoes - better than any fried potato you’ll ever have. The little gem salad is so crave worthy, with a killer dressing. And then - do not miss the soft cream and mochi cake! We had sweet corn soft cream with the miso caramel. Heavenly.

Love everything about this place. The design is warm and well thought out. The service was friendly and balanced with not toomuch attention, yet attentive. The food was fantastic! The spicy miso ramen did not disappoint, nor did the romanesco cauliflower. We sat in front of the street style bbq bar, and the wood fire was nice and warm since it was raining outside. I thought the price point was fair and on par with that caliber of restaurant.

Went there for dinner, food was ok, pricier than what it’s worth, service can be improved, didn’t try their soft serve ice cream, people seem to line up for it tho. I’d stay clear of their stone fruit salad and tuna tar tar, very average. Origini was overcooked, too hard on the outside. Skewers were average, not spiced in any note-worthy ways. pluses: nice decor, and their water boy was very attentive.

Great place with Japanese food that isn't just another sushi joint. Try the soft cream!

An outstanding Japanese-focused gem of a restaurant in downtown Napa. The food and service are great, and their wine list is interesting. A couple of things that set them apart are their sommelier with an expertise in their fine selection of sakes, and their homemade ice creams - during their off hours, they serve at a window - that are invariably delicious. Miminashi is a pretty live space in terms of noise, so while you won't get a quiet, Auberge du Soliel kind of experience, what you will get is some mighty fine victuals and potables.

We had a spectacular experience. We did the chefs tasking menu and we were overwhelmed with the quality of food and service. The sake pairing was a lovely addition. I loved the grilled mushrooms from the grill and my husband’s couldn’t pick a favorite from all the fun things we ate. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the dishes and any specific recommendations on how to beat enjoy them. We will be back next time we are in town.
