"Go to Placencia, Belize. Eat at this bistro. The Maya Beach Hotel's bistro is hands down one of the best restaurants in Belize—in fact, it's been named Belize 's restaurant of the year not once but twice. The food is a French spin on traditional Belizean fare, and the outdoor seating area is right on the beach, just steps from the Caribbean Sea. Order the coconut shrimp (served with a spicy mango sauce) and the roasted pumpkin-coconut-green chili soup to start, and lobster grilled cheese (with cheddar, brie, and brunoise) or layered veggies (roasted potatoes, onions, and plantains with a tomato vinaigrette and jalapeño-tofu aioli) for a main course."

"John and Ellen left their home countries ( Australia and the United States) to build a life in Belize andopen a restaurant and hotel, thus giving them the time to connect with people in a meaningful way. Whether their passion for life makes the food at the Maya Beach Hotel Bistro so good, or whether John’s talent is simply deserving of a Michelin rating he might never receive, I don’t know. I do know that I can’t get the craving for their garlic and goat cheese appetizer out of my head, I can still close my eyes and taste the complex flavors of the lamb and feta salad that I enjoyed, and I have never tasted anythinglike John’s peanut butter ice cream pie. Other dinner standouts include leek flan with grilled conch, and shrimp French toast. Maya Beach Hotel Bistro is open to hotel guests and the public for three meals a day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m."

Went here as our hotel restaurant had disappointed us during multiple instances. The service at Maya Beach Hotel Bistro was impeccable, the staff was super attentive and regularly checked in with us. The food was delicious and with Happy Hour prices on appetizers, it was quite a cheap meal for this area. Location is right on the beach but with less flies and sandfleas than the hotel we stayed at.

We ate here a couple times as it was right in the hotel. The food was alright, definitely a good variety of options! Nothing was amazing, but none of it was bad by any means! We only ate dinner a few times so I can’t speak for the breakfast menu. The view is beautiful and it’s a pleasant and quiet atmosphere. We ate the conch ceviche, pork, pork, pork burger, the stuffed squid, chips and salsa, and the fish and chips throughout or multiple visits. It was convenient, and not too expensive. It would be a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise!

Just stopped by for breakfast, but was a classy quiet and clean place. I highly recommend going there. There’s even a little pool that you can take a dip in if you get warm while having your meal. It is right on the beach, which I absolutely love and although we didn’t stay there, their accommodations looked quite nice

So good!! The atmosphere and location are perfect. All of the food was excellent. Loved the belize breakfast with fry jack, beans, eggs and a bit of fresh fruit. Fresh juice and fresh fruit bowls were great. Prices seemed very reasonable for the fresh, quality and quantity of food we got.

Go for the peanut brittle pie! The coconut shrimp and conch fritters were horrible, the fritters were green and showed no signs of conch, and the shrimp was tough and packed with this weird flour mixture making it cakey and chewy. The fish and chips were ok, just bland but with good beer batter! Service was absolutely wonderful. Tried breakfast another day, love their espresso and the breakfast burrito was good too! The chile sauce it comes with was the best part!

Delicious food! I didn't get to stay at this resort but it was really close to where we did stay. Maya also had a little gift shop which our resort didn't have, so we bought some mementos there. We got the coconut shrimp app, sis got the po'boy, and I got the fish & chips. Delicious! Wait staff was attentive & friendly, and the food was reasonably priced. Will come again!

This might be the best restaurant in Belize. So so good in every way. We had a large party of 9 and our experience in Belize to date was that serving a party that large was difficult and time consuming. Most places would serve one to two dishes at a time. Maya Bistro had their service down to a science. Almost like eating in a Michelin Star restaurant. Apps were delicious, fresh, and had a local flair on seasoning and presentation. Drinks were expertly crafted and tasted great and were delivered quickly. The main courses were next level good. The nut encrusted fish (Snook) was incredible. A watermelon curry reduction was so good. The sides a take on rice and beans was mashed potatoes and beans. It really was good. The other hit was the pork. Served like a cowboy ribeye perfectly prepared a served on a polenta base. We will be going back to this spot. Might have to try the hotel here too if the restaurant is this good. Finally if they’re serving soufflé, order it. The chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream was insane.

We had a large party of 8 adults and 3 children and were seated inside the hut as another large party was seated outside we enjoyed ever bit of the service and food quality. I wish I would have got the waitresses name because she did awesome. We went because we were told about the peanut brittle pie and the nut crusted fish which were both amazing however the fish and chips were spot on and cooked perfectly as well as arrived with an awesome tartar sauce. If your close its a definite must stop as it was extremely reasonable for the quality and quantity of food, drinks and service we received!
