"If Mandapa feels more like a community than a hotel, that’s because it is. The resort occupies 24 lush acres on property previously owned by a group of neighboring families who retain access to the land and its resident temple; as a result, it maintains three acres of rice paddies and a traditional rice barn on stilts, and the villagers bring daily offerings to the temple, giving Mandapa a strong connection to local culture. The hotel’s open-air lobby sits 300 feet above the Ayung River valley, overlooking 35 hillside suites with views of the jungle and rice paddies and 25 villas along the flowing river. The suites are furnished with traditional Balinese pieces and artwork as well as stand-alone soaking tubs, while the high-ceilinged villas, decorated with ornate and vividly colored botanical panels, have large pools and separate master suites. Everywhere, local materials and design elements feature prominently, from the thatched roofs to the fringed umbrellas that shade the lounge chairs by the pools.Golf carts driven by staff members carry guests along the steep paths between the lobby, the villas, and the riverside Mandapa Spa. Yet, as dreamy as the hotel seems, it’s only a 10-minute drive from Ubud,Bali’s cultural center."

Mandapa took my breath away. From the moment I entered till the minute I left, the experience here just kept getting more and more special. The property itself is secluded and stunning, right on the banks of the Ayung river and encircling some pristine rice fields. There is some striking natural element to marvel at whichever part of the property you’re in. We loved walking through the rice field after a particularly indulgent Balinese brunch, and just sitting in an elevated hut in the middle of the field to catch our breath and admire the surroundings. Once you’re done admiring the nature (which will take a long time in itself), you can turn your attention back to the quietly elegant, cultural, but still modern architectural details that infuse the entire resort. I don’t think I’ve ever admired ceilings this much in my life. And the service! From the moment you step in, absolutely delightful service that makes you feel so cared for in every way. It felt like there was a whole host of people actively thinking about how to make your experience better at each moment. All the restaurants are solid, but my favourite memory has to be watching the sun set from Ambar while drinking their inhouse brews and sampling delectable sushi. Every moment of your time at Mandapa has been designed to be delightful and I was thrilled. Cannot wait to return!

Mandapa is without a doubt the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in truly one of the best in the world. Marka provided the best service throughout our five-night stay, and the entire team and staff at the propert made the experience absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the service, hospitality, and attention to detail were beyond exceptional. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special and cared for. The setting is breathtaking, the accommodations luxurious, and the atmosphere radiates peace and perfection. After experiencing Mandapa, we know that any other hotel we go to will never feel the same. It has set a new standard for excellence and created memories we will cherish forever. If you’re looking for a place that defines world-class service and unforgettable luxury, Mandapa is second to none.

We had such a great time at the resort from the start to finish. Our butler has made sure our stay was comfortable. The resort was right in the middle of the Ubud town, but the moment you turn into it, it felt like entering an entirely different world, so calm and peaceful. My 3 year old loved his stay here, he spent a lot of time at the kids club. Since we had a late flight leaving Bali, they were able to provide us with another room to stay until late. This resort definitely made us want to come back to Bali one day.

We had an amazing anniversary stay at Mandapa Bali. The hotel is truly one of a kind. ||Our hostess Parmini was incredible, she went above and beyond to make sure every moment of our anniversary trip felt special. We had a few hiccups during our trip and she helped smooth out everything. ||We also want to thank our guides Gusde and Widi. Gusde made our day exploring Ubud unforgettable and Widi made our private rafting experience along the Ayung River really fun. I would definitely go with these tour guides again. ||Every single staff member, from the restaurants and spa to the drivers and housekeeping knew our name and were very professional, and welcoming. I would stay at this property again in a heartbeat.

I don’t quite get the hype about Mandapa. The property itself is absolutely stunning—I’ll give it that, but everything else is just lacking. I was truly disappointed with my experience at Mandapa Spa. This review simply for the spa and NOT about the staff as they were truly lovely. I expected more—I mean a lot more for the price and the property. I had a lackluster treatment, not because the esthetician was bad but simply because the service was not as expected. My husband had a massage at the same time and for some reason they placed us in the same room even though we had different treatments. It wasn’t even relaxing, in fact it was disruptive since I was getting a facial and he was getting a body exfoliation. I’ve never encountered this in my life. We also were put in the same changing room. I don’t get it..don’t they have a separate men’s and women’s facility. Everything felt so rushed and impersonal. It literally felt like I was a number and clients were being rotated in and out etc. We then had reservations for dinner after our treatment at Sawah Terrace and due to an awkward situation with the restaurant host, we decided to cancel the dinner on the spot due to her attitude. The whole thing was off, everything about the property seems super corporate and strict. You couldn’t even walk through the property without someone trying to herd you. I know that sounds odd but we weren’t able to explore the property due to “privacy issues”. To clarify, we just finished the spa treatment and just wanted to see the pool (literally take a peek) as we were interested in possibly staying here on our next visit. No—we were literally ushered away by the host and blocked. I’m serious, she tried to block us from the entrance even though there was not one person in the pool area. The whole thing was odd. The staff although very welcoming almost seemed as though they were all walking on eggshells and operating as if they were on constant surveillance. Not sure if it’s due to poor management but sadly left a bad taste in my mouth and I couldn’t wait to leave.

Our very first trip to Bali turned out to be one of the best experiences of our lives — and it’s all thanks to Nessa! From the moment we arrived, she went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Her warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care made us feel so special.||Nessa took amazing care of both my wife and me, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. Whether it was helping us plan the perfect day, recommending hidden gems only locals know, or simply checking in to make sure we were having the best time — she did it all with such kindness and professionalism.||We’ve travelled to many places, but the hospitality and heart that Nessa showed us were truly next level. She made our first Bali trip unforgettable and left us already planning our return!||If you’re lucky enough to have Nessa looking after you, trust me — you’re in the best hands. 🌴❤️

We were lucky to come here for our honeymoon and experience a real taste of the local culture. We were so welcomed on arrival and the view was absolutely out of this world just in the lobby! Massive thank you to our butler Dewa and also Kewin, for looking after us and making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. We also did the tasting menu at Kubu and Rita was excellent! Explaining where all the food had come from and it tasted stunning. We also did a romantic dine at the rice field and Ayo was so charming and funny. She really made our night! The chef was also amazing at creating such beautiful food. I would also highly recommend the Vw tour. August was our guide and Bendi our driver. We had the best time experiencing amazing views, rice fields, coffee plantation including tasting and an art school. Bendi took great pictures of us in the car so we can have something to fondly look back at. August was an amazing guide. Not only was he very knowledgeable on where he showed us but also happy to share his own culture which was fascinating. The food and waiting staff at Ambar and Sawah were also amazing! Everyones English was so good! We were both so sad to leave but would love to come back and see everyone again one day!

I cannot begin to tell you how much we have enjoyed staying at the Ritz Mandapa Reserve. From 3-4 weeks prior to arrival, the team began their communication with me, ensuring that each day was carefully planned to suit our wishes and needs. As this is a property that’s on the river, I wanted for my husband and I to spend some time enjoying the hotel as well as spend time sightseeing. The staff made sure I received an equal amount of attention while on property and off. Our butler Jeje was nothing but helpful with all of our requests and constant changing of plans. I wanted to make sure we were able to experience as much of what the hotel had to offer as possible and Jeje helped me to achieve that. From ironing our clothes, to making photography reservations, to schedule spa appointments and changing dinner times around at the onsite restaurants, she was SO accommodating and that made me feel so important. I am a busy mother of 5 with a full time job and for someone to make it their full time job to attend to my needs for a change was the best experience I could have asked for. The location was just unreal. We got the Strand Villa Riverview and I could not imagine a better room. This is a must see and experience hotel. I will be recommending to all my friends and family. Thank you Ritz for making this a truly memorable trip for my husband and I.
