"Welcome to one of the best weekend hangout spots in all of London—Maltby Street Market is so good that we come no matter the weather. The narrow street is packed wall-to-wall with excellent food vendors and the odd antique store. Besides excellent food options like steak and chips from The Beefsteaks and plenty of space in the area to perch with a drink, it’s bookended by some excellent restaurants, including small plates specialist 40 Maltby Street. Plan to get here kind of early at the weekend and spend at least a couple of hours eating your weight in doughnuts (St. John Bakery is close by)." - jake missing, rianne shlebak
"It’s a Saturday. You’re wandering along the river, loving life, breathing in that sweet London smog. You haven’t the foggiest where you are, but your phone says London Bridge. Well then, you’re in luck. Head towards Tower Bridge and go to Maltby Street Market. This is London’s best weekend food market. Get the steak and chips from The Beef Steaks, and whatever else takes your fancy. Which will probably be a lot." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"The problem with people who are always late, is that they are always late. They will lie. They will embellish. They will literally throw away one of their shoes to act like they’ve been mugged. You learn not to rise to it. That’s why you should also learn to make it work for you, by going to Maltby Street Market. This is London’s best weekend food market, and it’s a joy to be there and only think about yourself (for a bit). Especially with a carton of steak, chips, and chimichurri sauce from The Beefsteaks." - jake missing
"Delivery around London Bridge. The Detroit-style pizzas at this London Bridge spot will not only make you want to ghost Dominos, they’ll make you ghost your flatmates if they try to take so much as a cheesy crust. The pizzas have a bread-like bottom, a crispy cheese-covered crust, and rivers of tomato sauce running on a base of melted cheese. You’ll find more than just your basic margherita here, with options like ‘Top Boy’ (vodka sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, nduja, pepperoni, and spicy honey) and ‘Smacks of Mac’ which is essentially a cheeseburger pizza. Basically, if you’re into excellent deep-pan pizzas, this is for you." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"If you're not up for braving the crowds at Borough Market, this mini version in up-and-coming Bermondsey offers a great weekend alternative. The rail arch warehouses on Maltby Street, used during the work week by various factories, distributors, and businesses, turn into pop-up spaces for quality coffee shops, wine bars, smoked salmon vendors, cheesemongers, and more.
