This bustling spot in Chelsea Market dishes out some of NYC's best fish tacos and seafood cocktails, all with a casual vibe and a side of margaritas.
"Los Mariscos should be busier than it is. It’s from the same people behind Los Tacos No. 1, but they specialize in seafood: fish tacos, shrimp tacos, ceviche, and aguachiles. And nothing is too expensive. It is, however, a counter-service spot where you eat off paper plates, so you probably aren’t going to bring a date here (unless they’re really cool). Although there is a full bar with a great mezcal selection, and their tacos are some of the best you’ll find in the city." - bryan kim
"Everything at Los Mariscos, from the people behind Los Tacos No. 1, tastes like it was caught from an ocean five minutes ago. Your taco options are shrimp, spicy shrimp, and, our favorite, fried battered fish. The whole operation is casual and efficient, and unlike Los Tacos No. 1—which feels like it’s in a food court—you can comfortably hang out at Los Mariscos for multiple rounds of beers and tacos." - neha talreja, kenny yang, carina finn koeppicus, willa moore, will hartman
"There are six locations of Los Tacos No. 1 around town, but, for some reason, there’s only one Los Mariscos. This counter-service spot tucked into the side of Chelsea Market is from the same team, and it serves fantastic fish tacos, ceviche, and aguachile. There’s a bit of seating inside, in addition to some sidewalk tables where you can camp out and drink a margarita when the weather’s nice." - bryan kim, willa moore, neha talreja
"This Mexican seafood spot is from people behind Los Tacos No. 1., and it's just as good. Their crispy fish taco easily ranks in the city's top five, and the cold, tangy aguachiles are exactly what you need on a hot summer day. Unlike Los Tacos, Los Mariscos isn't actually inside of Chelsea Market (it's sort of tucked to the side), and it has a bar and some tables where you can hang out." - bryan kim, neha talreja, hannah albertine, sonal shah
"If Los Tacos No.1 is the brother who’s been day trading since middle school, Los Mariscos is its equally talented twin who opted to be a tour boat captain in Baja. They’re from the same parents, and they both live in Chelsea Market, but Los Mariscos doesn’t have a second or fourth home, it’s always near a bucket of Coronas, and it knows a lot about fish. Its perfectly-battered catfish and housemade tortillas would make Mariscos’ tacos a must-order if the story ended there, but with crema, chopped tomatoes, and salsa roja, these are the best fish tacos in Manhattan." - matt tervooren
