One night weeknight stay in March, 2017 at this small, modern style, boutique hotel. Located in a residential district about 10 minutes walk, somewhat uphill, from Orchard Road Somerset MRT station area.Hotel is poorly marked and not that easy to discern at night. Pleasant grounds. Very strong fragrance in lobby area. Friendly staff. Got a "Business" room in hopes of a usable surface for a laptop (check out website room types since other room types may not have a suitable work surface.)
Somewhat confusing layout navigating from lobby to room, possibly reflective of hotel being built along a slope. "Business" room I got was ok sized with a loft configuration. Stairs to bed area were ok in width and angle, which can be a problem with some lofts, though no night light so somewhat of an issue if you wanted to go downstairs at night.
Atypically the toilet and shower were outside and mostly visible from the room, so possibly not that great if you want toilet or shower privacy. The toilet area had some frosted glass, but was mostly visible from the work desk. Chair at desk positioned close enough to glass wall to shower/toilet area that I kept bumping into the wall. Sink and small counter area in room itself. Towels and amenities were ok. Loft stairway positioned as as to be a head bump hazard and was marked as such.
Bed was on a platform that made it somewhat a hassle to get in and out. Upstairs TV turned on with remote, but wouldn't turn off. I finally switched off its power. Lighting was adequate throughout, both ambient and task. Lighting controls were standard though without pilot, so their location wasn't visible in darkness. No night light anywhere in the room.
Couldn't get the hotel wifi to work with my Chromebook, though no problem with two different Android phones I brought along. I reported to Management, but we were unable to resolve the issue. The Chromebook reported a security issue, though the Android phones did not.
Water in Singapore is safe to drink, but bottled water was also provided. A small vending machine selection was available.
Breakfast, as mentioned on the website but not made clear that I saw before booking or in the confirmation, is about 10 minutes walk away on a quiet street. There are two restaurant choices. The Singapore traditional choice restaurant opens at 6AM; the other more standard Western style restaurant opens at 8AM. At the Singapore traditional restaurant you order at the counter and they bring the food, so not a buffet. Other restaurants are in the same area, including some hawker style.
Noise from other rooms, hallway, and from in room sources such as air con wasn't significant.
Pool is described as a "dipping pool," so not all that big. Lift and stairs joins the two floors. Pickup area outside hotel is unsheltered, but there's a street light so ok for taxi, but less ok if raining.
Summary is that I'd probably not stay here again because of the bathroom visibility, wifi issue, and the remote breakfast.
