"Smack in the middle of Montmartre, this is a perfect quick pit stop for steak-frites, roast chicken, and côte de boeuf—at great prices. The excellent lunch deal means that crowds swell, but it’s spacious and comfortable enough to accommodate them."

Great dining experience with a upscale but still casual atmosphere. Had a light dinner splitting some appetizers (snails, French onion soup, deviled eggs) and the flank steak which was cooked to a perfect medium rare with an excellent gravy sauce. Perfect stop in the middle of Paris.

You must make a reservation beforehand, as it is an excellent place with a great atmosphere—classical French brasserie. The asparagus entree and onion soup were amazing. We shared a very good steak. I asked if it could be baked in the oven because I didn't want fried potatoes with the meat, and they were very understanding. The escargots were great. And If you are lucky, they can put garlic green sauce for escargots on your oven-baked potato. It's not easy to maintain traditional quality in a place that tends to be so touristy, and it's not easy to find places like this. The atmosphere is charming. The restrooms are very nice. The people are very polite. Highly recommended!

Google
This restaurant is a classic French bistro, but what sets it apart is its straightforward, uncomplicated menu. When you walk in, you're immediately struck by the stunning open space above you, a reminder that this place was once a department store before it was transformed into a restaurant. As I glanced around at other tables before ordering, I noticed most people had chosen escargots and the traditional French onion soup, which clearly suggests they are the most popular dishes. The service was slow at first, though it became more attentive as the meal went on. The food was enjoyable, though not exceptional—good but nothing that really stood out. Overall, I'd say the main reason to visit this restaurant is for the charming atmosphere and the very reasonable prices.

Amazing atmosphere, kind service and great food. Would recommend for a nice and cozy date. One moment they turned of the light for a birthday song and cake, whole restaurant that is 3 floors joined in with applause. That was really nice.

Google
This restaurant is absolutely gorgeous—you can really feel the history here (it’s been around since 1921!). The Art Deco interior and the open-air courtyard give it such a unique and charming Parisian vibe. Our waiter was super helpful, and the wines—both the white and red—were amazing and paired perfectly with our meal. I went all in and tried the onion soup (so good, definitely 5 stars!), the eggs starter, snails, and duck confit. Everything was delicious and felt thoughtfully prepared. A really special place to dine!

Everything was perfect This restaurant is located nearby Effiel tower. Service is good, taste 4/5, with perfect atmosphere but still nice for price. You can expect most of menus for 10-20€ I'd recommand this place to everyone visitting Eiffel tower.

Had an absolutely amazing time this evening at Le Cafe du Commerce. Serving up classic French cuisine in this stunning location, I was left in awe of every fresh and delicious plate that was presented to us. Make sure you book ahead as the demand is high and for good reason. From the amazing escargot (my first time indulging), to the perfectly cooked filet and frites and ending with the chocolate molten lava cake with caramel ice cream, not a single dish disappointed. This restaurant is a must visit while in Paris!

Google
My family and I had a very pleasant time! The meal was delicious, everything was clean, and the service was great! We were attended to as soon as we arrived, and the waiter was very friendly and patient, even speaking in another language when we had difficulty understanding the menu! I recommend it and will definitely return.

Yelp
Our friend Lily took me here and loved the true Parisian cuisine. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great French food.

Douglas Y.

Yelp
First off if you're looking for a nice pkace that serves dinner early search no farther. Typically French places start dinner service around 7pm. Commerce actually didn't close after lunch so you early meal eaters or jet lag victims can come here for a bite. Our service was friendly and they actually have a English version of their The menu is fairly affordable with my 200g Le Formidable filet de boeuf aka steak and frites was 28€. Everything was tasty and a 450ml carafe of wine was a measly 11€. This is a great affordable tourist friendly spot to check out.

Yelp
Our party of 8 came to the Café du Commerce location in the 15e arrondissement of Paris after making a reservation for dinner a few days before the Olympics. Although the restaurant was busy, there was no wait time. Loved everything about it: the food (pavé de rumstek et frites), wine, decor, price, and service! Street parking was easy to find as well. Will be back for sure!! Also, have I mentioned this restaurant is over 100 years old? Not sure why it only appeared in my feed recently but now that it did, I suggest we all catch up by visiting it if you are in the area! That's how much I enjoyed it!

John M.

Yelp
This was a find. A friend mentioned Cafe du Commerce after her recent visit to the restaurant. Though pretty familiar with the Parisian dining scene, we decided to give it a try during the busy Olympic tourist surge. I'm certainly happy we did. Situated near the La Motte Picquet Grenelle Metro in a nice neighborhood, the Art Deco style Brasserie is in a commercial but not in a particularly touristy part of the city. Arriving on a Tuesday we were surprised to find the three floor Cafe pretty crowded but the obliging staff brought us to a nice table for two. No huffy hassles as in some places given we did not have a reservation. The Lunch and Dinner menu are extensive, but the way to go is the Lunch Special. Normally we don't take this route but the establishment is geared for efficiency and quality serving a largely business but increasingly noticeable tourist contingent especially from the U.S. West coast. The Lunch Menu for under 20 Euros is a deal; a choice of an Entree and then an amazing selection of Deserts along with Coffee. A glass of wine is extra but not pricy. On our first trip my wife decided upon Salmon with Aubergine while I had a steak with frites and special house sauce. We liked the place so much we returned a second time last week. Again no problem getting in despite it being rather full. Upon our return we both had the seared Beef tataki accompanied by a glass of Cote du Rhone. For desert she ordered Cafe Gourmand. I had a wondrous desert Profiterole. Good spot on service on both occasions too. Though dating from 1921, the restaurant is adorned with polished woods, marble, mirrors and potted plants, the Cafe du Commerce does not have a stuffy nor dated feel. Rather it exudes an authentic vibe which flows as smoothly as the service. Cafe du Commerce is a classic old school French establishment which still presents good food in an unhurried atmosphere. Certainly worth a visit!

Yelp
Had our first meal in Paris here and it was great. Restaurant is huge. French onion soup, and duck were great. Friendly staff. Good value

Veronique C.

Yelp
This century-old brasserie offers traditional French specialties, such as duck confit and onion soup. Spread across three levels, it opens onto an indoor courtyard adorned with plants, creating a unique atmosphere. Having frequented this establishment since childhood, I've noticed little change over the years. The bustling ambiance, solid cuisine, and reasonable prices remain consistent features. Recently, I had dinner there with my now adult daughter and we had a great time, enjoying the very French vibe.

Ellie H.

Yelp
Beautiful establishment! Saw a video on instagram and decided to give it a try. It was my first meal in Paris and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, and tried his best to communicate with limited English. All the dishes were delicious with good portions, would definitely revisit if I ever visit Paris again.

Alma M.

Yelp
I was there twice!!! Amazing service, delicious food. Such a cute aesthetic spot, three stories high! I tried my first escargot there and boy did I love them! They also did something special for my birthday! They made it so great!

Samantha C.

Yelp
This food was excellent!! So delicious! The service was excellent. The hard boiled eggs with mayonnaise was the best I have ever had!!! Hands down. The mayonnaise is so delicious!! The mustard is so delicious! Everything was delicious. This restaurant is a must. The service is so quick. Not a long wait for your food. Excellent staff!

S J.

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner for our party of three on a Wednesday evening. The French onion soup was absolutely delicious, and the sea bass was perfectly prepared! Highly recommend!

Yelp
We came for the Architecture. Cafe du Commerce is housed in a spectacular space. We've seen it many times on France 24's French Connections Plus. Unfortunately, Flo Villeminot's bubbly charm did not transfer to the staff of the restaurant. Brusk and lacking of anything to be confused with hospitality, this local's "churn and burn" was nothing special. Considering it's location, and it's middle of the road food, there really is no reason to go there except for it's beautiful space. I'm sorry to say, it was a waste of time.

Yelp
Our housemates recommended this restaurant. We made reservations and arrived as the restaurant was opening. The restaurant has multiple stories and was getting crowded shortly after we arrived...tourists and business people. The service was efficient and friendly (in the French way). We didn't speak French but the server was patient .. understood enough for us to order (google translate camera was wonderful). The poor waitstaff has so many tables to tend to. There was a tree planted in the ground on the entry floor (1st floor for me, I guess floor 0 in europe) We had the plate of the day - entree, dessert, coffee 20euros. The entrees were tasty but the highlight was the dessert...I can only remember what I ate - meringue boat filled with pistachio and vanilla ice cream ...all covered with whipped creme...WONDERFUL. and an espresso to end the meal. I would recommend this place ...

Maureen H.

Yelp
We came here on a recommendation. We waited & waited. Five parties came in afterwards and were served their food while we waited. The waiter was rude. The manager was rude. My pasta dish in cream sauce was practically curdled by the time it arrived and had to be remade. I have worked in restaurants and this service was truly awful.

Gerry C.

Yelp
When we came in, the host was away from the stand. After he was alerted he scrambled to greet us, chewing and looking disheveled like he's perpetually waking from a nap. We arrived at the table and placed our order. I got the skirt steak. Nothing to write home about. It had au jous and a couple slices of sautéed onions. The plate definitely could have used a wipe before it went out. Presentation was haphazard at best. This was my first meal in Paris and it fell so below the mark. Right on par with an Applebee's that stopped trying.

R G.

Yelp
Good, nice space but they could be trying harder. Food is generally classic French and fortunately no Italian dishes to mix things up and feed tourists. I hope they get back to their previous old school excellence.

Kirk S.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely. The location itself is beautiful and photo-worthy. The photos on here are good, but barely do it justice - this place is just darn pretty. Service is also great - it's a lot faster than it is in other places. The food is also really nice. I tried various cocktails, the escargot, and the duck - all of them were really tasty, and definitely worth ordering. I found all dishes reasonably priced for what they were, and I left extremely full and happy. If you find yourself in the area, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.

Rob C.

Yelp
The food, the service, and the ambiance all deserve a five-star rating. Our French in laws met us here for dinner, and we all had a good time getting together, and the staff did not rush us out of the place! They kindly provided us with menus that had English translation. And our waiter was very attentive. For us Americans, he provided us with a canister of ice cubes for our water! Each of the dishes served, whether it was starter, entree, or dessert, was visually interesting. Our host chose a white wine from the Loire Valley. Our waiter was both efficient and friendly. The restaurant has three floors of diners around a central atrium. The overall visual effect this was superb. So many things in Paris are not air conditioned. And it was interesting to see that when you looked up, the glass rooftop was open, and it created a wind tunnel effect. This restaurant was a very pleasant experience and if I were to visit Paris again I would plan to return.

Philippe H.

Yelp
If you're looking for a French cafe that serves typical French dish in a beautiful environment with trained staff, don't look further this is the place. The house wine was very good, the serveur was super nice even if his English was far from fluent he managed to make us laugh and had great advice.

Mary E.

Yelp
We had a wonderful evening here. The cocktails were very good; the gin and tonic I had was exceptional! The service was discreet and the setting was lovely. The domed glass ceiling opens and closes depending on the weather. Our food was very good. Among our tastings, moules, carpaccio de filet de rumstek au poivre and travers de porc. It was one of those unforgettable Paris evenings.

M M.

Yelp
We came in to most beautiful surroundings and friendly staff! The service was fantastic and each course was wonderful and perfectly seasoned! They managed to serve a large room with total finesse! Go and experience possibly the best meal in Paris!

Elaine J.

Yelp
We really wanted to like Le Cafe du Commerce. The food was good enough, although the steak I ordered (that was on the menu) was not available. The unfortunate part, though, was that I ordered six escargots. Three of the shells were empty. I pointed this out to the waiter, who brought back three escargots. All good. But when we got the bill, I saw we were charged for nine escargots. I told the person at the front desk and he corrected the bill, but he was brusque about it. I felt as though we were treated like dumb Americans. We didn't go back, even though it was in our neighborhood and we'd had high hopes.

Garrett Y.

Yelp
Wow! We love Le Cafe du Commerce! My Parisienne friend brought us here for dinner this week. This is her absolutely favorite place and I can see why! I understand it is one of the oldest bistros in Paris and is also one of its busiest (at all hours and any day). A reservation is highly recommended. Upon entering, one immediately notices the three story atrium. When the weather is nice, the ceiling opens up so that it becomes more a central courtyard. Definitely try and get a table along the balconies on the upper floors. The menu items were extensive. Be on the lookout for items on the French menu with the "house" symbol, which means it is a a house specialty. There is also a Franco-Anglo menu so no worries if you cannot read French. We each had a different starter, and tried some of each other's. My friend had the pate (loved it) while my partner got the goat cheese trio. I got the salmon mousse (sounds worse than it tastes)! Loved each of them. For dinner, I got the rump steak, medium, with frites. It was excellent! My friend only eats steak at Cafe du Commerce, and so I thought I would get the same as she. My partner got the duck, which he said fell off the bone. It looked good! It came with gratinee dauphinois (his fave). We polished off our meal with a couple of desserts. I got the chocolate mousse--it was nice and dense and chocolatey! Service was impeccable. The table next to us had a birthday guest. And so the waiters brought out a slice of cake with a firework (definitely not a candle) and sang "happy birthday". We would definitely be back next time we visit Paris. This place is in a quiet neighborhood of Paris, and is frequented mostly by locals.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to visit Le Cafe du Commerce in March of this year during my trip to Paris. My friend had wanted to try it ever since moving to France and I was down for a special dining experience during this trip. Suffice to say this restaurant exceeded my expectations and wowed me with it's decor. The main entrance is located down a corridor off of the main street. When you walk in you instantaneously realize that it's a multi-level restaurant with a classic French feel. French posters surrounding tables draped with white tablecloth elevate the experience and definitely helps to emit an upscale atmosphere. We were immediately seated on the second floor with a view looking down onto the main floor. Our server came up to us right away and took our drink orders. When it came to our food, my friend and I both ordered the Steak-Frites. This is definitely the best version of the dish I'VE EVER HAD. A must-have if you end up visiting. Overall a great experience in a beautiful setting. A go-to for date nights, special occasions, and to catch up with friends.

Peter H.

Yelp
Service was attentive and they put up with my non-existent French language skills. The restaurant is multi-level and it looks visually interesting to see dining above and below you. It gives the staff a workout no doubt. We had the roasted chicken and steak and fries and they were both delicious. I would recommend this place for dinner and lunch.

Jaime N.

Yelp
This is the first time I've ever been in Paris, so I'm not the best judge of restaurants on this continent, but I am from San Francisco, which helps... a little bit. I came here looking to try their tartar of raw beef, or Tartare, as I felt like trying something daring. My friend thought I was crazy, but it was actually really good. It had what you would imagine of the texture of raw beef, but you could only taste all the spices and herbs that "cook" the dish. I really enjoyed the blend of the flavors and it made my first authentic french dish very memorable. The service is what you would expect from europe, and the waiter spoke enough english to ask if i wanted the tartare cooked or raw, the way it's supposed to be. I thought it was very nice of him to double check if I knew that it was raw before serving such a dish to an american. The atmosphere was casual and I really liked how there were three floors, and both top floors could overlook the balcony to the main floor. The restaurant was also easily accessible with just a block down from one of the underground tram stops...and they close pretty late. Next time, it's escargot for me.

Elaine T.

Yelp
Café du Commerce is the quintessential neighborhood bistro, packed with locals for the lunch specila of Plat, Dessert & Café for 15,50 € ($18). If you only want the plat, it's less than 13€ ($15) for lunch! Most people eating next to me ordered the steak and fries for their main course and the dessert & coffee special, but after hearing the table of businessmen next to me complain that their steak and fries were cold even after sending back their order, I opted for one of the daily specials, the lamb stuffed with chèvre (goat cheese), roquette (arugula), served with lentils and garlic cream for 19,50 € ($23). It came in a beautiful little cocotte, and was delightfully rich and hearty. The garlic cream wasn't even necessary, but it was great to sop up with the bread. For less than 4 €, I had a nice glass of Bordeaux. It was good enough that I decided to come back a bit later than the lunch rush so that the kitchen and staff would be less harried and try the steak and fries.

Aletta B.

Yelp
We were taken to Le Café du Commerce by some local Parisian friends who wanted to show us some traditional French fare. The restaurant certainly has the classic French feel, from the menu to the waiters, and won't disappoint if you're looking to break away from the tourist scene. The menu consists of a variety of items, of which I tried the steak et frites and the razor clams. Both were delicious! My only complaint would be that I requested my steak to be cooked medium rare and the server assured me that because I am American (which I am not), I would not like my meat could medium rare. Despite his advice I asked for my steak medium rare but still did not receive it when my meal was served. Though still a delicious steak, I would have preferred it to be cooked to my liking, no the waiter's. For dessert, Le Café du Commerce has an impressive list of French-inspired treats, including crème brule and rum cake. I am told that the rum cake is especially good. Overall, Le Café du Commerce was an adequate choice for our first meal in Paris and certainly gave us the French vibe. The menu prices were affordable, compared to the typical tourist-area prices and the quality of food was reasonably good.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Very good gems my husband and I discovered. We loved it so much we went back twice within a week. The menu is extensive, The food is good: i loved the steak tartare! Very good! I wish I had time to sample more dishes. Will definetely go back next time we are in Paris

Jacob K.

Yelp
It is a nice establishment with nice layout but food is only ok. Presentation is nice and all but all the meals we have tired missed that finalntouch

David L.

Yelp
Le Café du Commerce is a beautiful, classy, laid back French restaurant in the XVè district of Paris. The restaurant itself has three floors and it has been serving customers since 1921! I order La pièce de boeuf, frites maison, sauce du jour. The meal includes your choice of dessert of apple pie or ice cream and coffee or tea. The steak was good but not extraodinary, and it was a bit on the chewy side. The steak was served with a sauce of the day. French fries were good, as they were nice and crisp. After the main course meal, I ate the dessert of apple pie. Outer layer was very crisp, sweet and there are a thin layer of chopped up apples. The apple pie itself is very thin and it's different from what you eat in North America. Nearing the end, I was served coffee. It was a very small cup which came with a cookie. Coffee was strong, slightly bitter, but rich. I enjoyed it even though I'm not a big fan of coffee. Much better than Starbucks. The meal also comes with French bread. The bread wasn't exactly the best French bread I've had, but it was free. It was on the hard and on the chewy side. Service was great. Waiter was very friendly and he spoke English and French. All in all, I really enjoyed this French restaurant. My sister introduced me to this restaurant because mostly locals, and not tourist eat at this restaurant.

Liana L.

Yelp
I came to Café du Commerce twice - once almost half a year ago, and another time very, very recently (less than two weeks ago). The first time I came, I was here with a class; the decor was suitably impressive as one of our class excursions and the food was pretty good. However, we waited almost TWO hours for our set menus, which we had ordered ahead of time. Our teacher kind of blew up at the waiter, who was pretty rude about the whole thing. I remember really liking the prune/fig on my terrine de lapereau, but I barely remember what food I got. So I guess it wasn't that impressionable. The second time I came, I brought some friends here because it happened to be right between UNESCO and the Eiffel Tower. This time, we had really good service; food got served promptly, and the server was pretty nice to my English-speaking friends. Depending on what you get, this could be 4 stars, but it could also be 2 stars :x A friend across from me got a pig body part (not sure what it was) that smelled rather foul (and tasted pretty strong and inedible to me), but she liked it a lot. She's from the South, so she said she's eaten pig in all forms. That would've definitely ruined my experience. I got the magret de canette with a berry sauce, but I felt that the sauce tasted too strongly of red wine. Although I asked for my meat rosé, it was poorly cooked. Although it was VERY cooked on the outside, I was disgusted to find that it was still completely raw on the inside. Although I understand the French love for raw beef, I don't think poultry should ever be raw at all. I finally asked the waiter if it could be cooked a bit more, and he graciously took it back. They even added more fries. +1 for the service :) It was much better this time around, but eventually, I reached another point where the meat was again, still very raw. I guess the duck was not cooked evenly, and I didn't want to ask for it to be cooked again. One of my friends got the pastilla du canard au miel, and it was actually really, really delicious. If you get this, you'll have a 5 star experience (: Excellent food, good service, lovely art-deco surroundings (3 floors!) - what more could you want? It's less than 15€, too. Unfortunately, my magret de canette (which I thought would be worth paying for) was significantly more expensive, and nowhere as good. We got the mi-cuit au chocolat with the fleur d'oranger ice cream. The chocolate cake wasn't very spectacular, but the ice cream was wonderful. :D Overall, I'd recommend Café du commerce if you're careful about what you get. No reservations needed because it's really THAT big.

John P.

Yelp
This place is a cut above must typical Parisian brasseries, primarily so due to the gorgeous interior. 3 stories with an open atrium and loads of plats in the middle makes it feel airy. Classy joint. They offer some sliced sausicon as an 'amuse buche'. Good wine list at not unreasonable prices, and THE place to get a Kir Royale. Food is solid upscale brasserie fare - you'll be happy with most anything you choose. I've eaten here multiple times over the years, and most recently took clients (fellow Americans) there. Everyone enjoyed their meal very much; I had the Pied du Porc - it was really tasty and prepared perfectly, but a labor-intensive eating experience for not a lot of actual meat, so I recommend something else. Make a reservation, and ask for a balcony table in the 1e (2nd floor).

Cogan G.

Yelp
Went here for dinner on a short layover from San Francisco. The service was excellent. I had the rump steak medium well with frites and it was a little rare but they had no problem cooking it longer for me. I had an arugula salad with goat cheese for a starter and it was so fresh and creamy. Creme' Brûlée's for desert. Everything was phenomenal. No complaints. Our server Enzo was amazing. Please visit if you are ever in Paris.

Keith T.

Yelp
The best restaurant in Paris bar none. Truly wonderful atmosphere with a typically French feel. Off the beaten track which ensures you do not get ripped off and the food and service are brilliant. The food is typically French ranging from Grande Salades to Steak Tar Tar. The Art Deco building covers three floors and the waiting staff have no problem keep up with the number of patrons. Until recently there was no English menu but that has changed (which probably means more tourists know about it now - damn!). On a sunny day the whole roof lifts back so that yyou get a full view of the sky above and a terrific breeze. It's a truly romantic and magical restaurant. We have never been disappointed with the service or the food and we have been back several times (that can not be said for many restaurants any where).

Ron J.

Yelp
Walking into Le Cafe du Commerce is like walking through a time warp, in the best way. This is a professionally managed cafe - after multiple visits we appreciated the consistency of the old world service approach. The menu provides a good range of options - from well conceived fish dishes to freshly shucked oysters to cassoulet to limosin beef. The values are impressive - it's easy to craft a three course meal for well under 49 euros.

Heather S.

Yelp
This my go-to bistro in Paris for delicious cuisine. The traditional dishes - steak frites, escargot, onion soup, profiteroles etc. - are all done exceptionally well. They also have inventive specials and other dishes on the menu - we had a whipped fois gras brûlée with diced green apple as an amuse bouche one visit yuuuum. The restaurant itself is gorgeous with a three story open air courtyard in the middle of the space. Highly recommend a trip to the 15th to check out this gem. I never miss a chance to hit cafe du commerce when in Paris.

S. H.

Yelp
With friends having raved about the cafe, we had to try it. It is quite stunning with its 3 floor atrium, overflowing with plants and trees. The service was extraordinary, with a maitre'd, waiter, runner and server all attuned to our table. We shared an appetizer of a salmon salad in a edible, paper thin shell reminiscent of an Indian Dosa. My husband got fish and chips that he loved. I got the highly touted Limosin beef Bavette which was, as often happens in Paris, too well done even though I asked for it to be à point. The frites were quite good and my Café Gourmand had 3 tasty sweets. We will try again but I was disappointed in the steak.

Seph S.

Yelp
Excellent food, very attentive and obviously well trained servers. A bit more expensive than I expected, however we did get very good value for our investment. Arrived early, 19:30H (7:30PM for les Americans) on a Friday night, and the place was full by 20:15, highly recommend reservations.

Melany S.

Yelp
My favorite place in Paris. Excellent authentic french food in a nice building with a roof that can be opened to give the feeling that you're dining in a balcony. Wonderful service. Very reasonable price for the quality of food and ambience. Highly recommended place to visit. I go to this place almost every time I am in Paris. Recommended dessert : Ba ba au rhom Recommended wine : White Cheverny I would give 6 stars out of 5 !!!

Beatrice W.

Yelp
I used to love this place when I was still a Parisian in another lifetime. This time visit was disappointing. The place is still charming and the seafood impeccable but my fish soup was so salty that I could not touch it and the waiter was quite chatty to the point of being obnoxious.... It might have been my last time...

James G.

Yelp
This is clearly far and away my favorite restaurant in Paris, probably France or the world. Traditional French food. Open for lunch, then dinner. Service excellent, ten minutes from Eiffel Tour, but in the 15e so it is away from the tourists. Only French people dining here most of the time. Long time locals. Every course magnificence - soup a l'onion is a must. Profiteroles not to be missed. Not expensive either. Just great on every level. Also decor is beautiful, three levels surrounding a courtyard, with plants, birds, etc. Just amazing.

Yelp
The thing is, in Paris, on a Monday night, most restaurants are closed. My friends were staying near Commerce and I did a pretty comprehensive search, I thought, on TripAdvisor, and I was having troubles coming up with options. Out of the 13,000 restaurant listings in Paris, Cafe Cosmos at #5708 was looking like it might be the best we could do... But showing up, on a rainy night, the menu looked rather uninspiring. Burgers. Salads. We had a drink at a regular bistro on Rue de Commerce instead, and then we spotted Le Cafe Du Commerce out of the corner of our eyes. It looked pretty nice from the outside... And was even nicer on the inside (I should have taken photos). A beautiful open art deco space from 1921: very charming indeed. And somehow I'd missed it in my internet research. It's ranked #2463! The service was very French, the menu was very French and extensive (and the French version offered much more than the English version). I think A. was happy with his little ramekin was aubergine and goat's cheese. W. said that beetroot carpaccio was just as excuse for the delicious chevre cheese on top. I myself couldn't resist trying the breaded bone marrow and toast, a fantastically odd dish. I don't think it needed the breading, which was a bit crude, but the bone marrow was tasty and strange and gelatinous and I'm glad I tried it. For our mains, W. had a mini pot roast, in its own pot, A. a classic steak with roquefort dressing and I couldn't resist trying scorpion fish, because really, who wouldn't want to order something that looks like a scorpion fish. Google it! If I'm back sometime, I'll try the 12-hour pig's trotter... All washed down with a bottle of dry white wine, we were far too full for dessert... Frankly, with Paris rainy and slick with rain, shiny and cozy, and in some of the finest company I could imagine, the food didn't really matter much at all, so the fact that we found an authentic French bistro with a menu slightly out of the ordinary on a Monday night was all we needed. That the food was tasty and the service amusing was a plus!

Yelp
Traditional brasserie café in Paris, not far from La Tour Eiffel but quite removed from the fake touristy feel of that area. We went for a simple lunch of steak frites and raspberry/blueberry sorbet (menu a 15 Euros) with a little Bordeaux red in a carafe. The meal was completely satisfying and well presented. When you enter the café, it's like going into a theatre, through a lobby and vestibule and then into three stories of serving space. The space used to be a fabric store, and then in 1921 became a hangout for local auto-workers. It has remained busy and popular among locals and, yes, tourists. It's a great value for the quality although it is busy and hardly intimate.

Yelp
I didn't know anything about this place before meeting a friend for lunch. It's your typical busy and hopping lunch place but they have (as many places in Paris do) an excellent and inexpensive lunch special. Enjoyed a great meal tucked away in a corner with a close friend. It's not "in my neighborhood" but it's been around since 1921 so you know it's doing something right. Worth checking out if you're nearby for a great and inexpensive lunch.

Yelp
Gorgeous décor, warm welcome by maitre'd, really busy and slow service by our US standards. Pretty presentation of Salmon Mousse in Tulip and Poke salad with about 1/2 lbs of their own smoked salmon, not salty. Exciting and reminiscent of the old bouillons

Yelp
I highly recommand. Good typical French cuisine (i am french). Waiters are awesome: young are friendly, olders really professionnal. Prices are affordable: 16 for a dish, 16 for good bottle of wine... The environment is good too.

Yelp
Lovely lovely restaurant in Paris. I came here with my whole family and we had a big table on the top floor. We were treated extremely well - several of our party spoke French so I think that helped a lot. The food was of good standard and reasonably priced for what you get. I liked that they gave you bread and the tastiest rillette as an appetizer. It is off the beaten track in the middle of a shopping street. I think it was Place du Concorde we went to (but could be wrong).

Yelp
Le Café du Commerce is a classic French bistrot - in style and menu, yet has managed to retain a local Parisian feel and largely French clientele. The menu is diverse, offering favorite "go-to" French dishes as well as very traditional ones such as tête de veau and pigs ears! My boyfriend and I very much enjoyed our meal. We split an order of 12 escargots to start and a pichet of the house red. As escargots go, they were standard, but not the best I've had. However, as a main course, I chose a truly excellent steak tartare. You have the choice of ordering already dressed and prepared, or ordering to mix yourself. I chose to go with the house preparation, no capers, and it was an absolute delight. My boyfriend had a delicious lamb dish and was quite pleased. The biggest draw for me, however, is the setting. Le Café du Commerce was originally a ladies department store before switching to a restaurant in the 1920s. The three levels open onto a beautiful courtyard that transports you to another era. I give the food a solid 3.5 stars, but the service and setting make it a unique dining experience.

Yelp
My friend and I had a great time! Food, cocktails and our waiters were the best. We will continue to come here whenever we have the chance!
