"Larchmont Wine & Cheese is a classic sandwich counter where things feel simple. It’s like being transported back to the ’60s or finally realizing you only need one streaming service and canceling all the others. Sandwiches here are uncomplicated and straightforward, with high-quality ingredients as king. Our go-to order is the #5, a baguette topped with imported prosciutto, mozzarella, and arugula, but the off-menu El Conquistador is also a great option. It’s filled with chorizo, prosciutto, Manchego, and a few pickled peppers—the perfect addition to any picnic, or meal to celebrate your breakup with Netflix." - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"#3 Soppressata Salami, with extra spread and fresh tomatoes "I used to live in Hollywood. Back then, this was the closest sandwich shop to me. What's great about this is that it's pretty simple. It's literally just salami, tomato, and a little bit of greens. What really makes this is the quality of the ingredients. Larchmont Wine and Cheese is an Italian deli, so they're freshly cutting their meat, and the baguette they use is great. What also makes it is the sun-dried tomato spread. Definitely get an extra side of that. I definitely recommend ordering ahead, because it can get pretty swamped in there." - brennan carley
"Tucked in the back of this wine and cheese shop in Larchmont is one of the Southland’s best sandwich counters. An assembly line of sandwich-builders works in sync to stuff cheese, meat, greens, and more into fresh Italian bread before drizzling olive oil and balsamic on top. Though it’s often the fresh mozzarella or prosciutto that gets the spotlight, regulars know to watch out for the tuna sandwich, which is only available on certain days, until sellout. The sandwich comes with tuna salad, Emmental cheese, tomato, mixed greens, extra virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. A full sandwich rings in at less than $15, which makes it easy to pick up a bag of chips to pair." - Eater Staff
"Simply put, there are sandwiches and then there are Larchmont Wine and Cheese sandwiches. This neighborhood wine shop might merely look like a place to pick up a good bottle of pinot (it is) but there’s also a not-so-well-kept secret lurking in the back: one of the best sandwich counters in the city. There are only seven sandwiches on the menu, and though the #5 with prosciutto and mozzarella (on baguette, always) is a classic, we’d make a case you should order each of them at some point. Waiting in line can be annoying at lunch, so if you’re in a rush, call in your order ahead. And grab a bottle on your way out. " - brant cox, sylvio martins
"You could maybe argue this isn’t a true deli, but we don’t have time for that. We’re already in line for some of the best sandwiches in the city. At first glance, Larchmont Wine and Cheese seems like a high-end wine shop, but if you head to the back corner, you’ll be greeted by a casual little deli counter where magic happens. The sandwiches coming out here only have three to four ingredients apiece—a testament to their high quality. Just get here early. When they’re out, they’re out." - Brant Cox, Garrett Snyder
