"It’s hard to go past the togarashi fried chicken at Lagoon Dining, a modern Asian island in the sea of Italian restaurants that is Lygon Street, Carlton. But everything else on the menu (which reflects the Chinese, Thai, and Malaysian heritage of the owners) is just as loaded with umami and spice. Think kang kong (water spinach) stir-fried in chicken fat, or egg custard with mushroom mapo and pork floss. I had a great experience at Lagoon Dining in Carlton. The staff were fantastic, attentive and knowledgeable, making the evening even more enjoyable. I opted for the $78 set menu, which was well worth it. The portions were generous and everything was served at a good pace. Standout dishes for me were the char siu and the steak tartare - both were exceptional in flavor and presentation. I also appreciated that each course was accompanied by a fresh greens dish, perfectly complementing the meats. The only downside was the outdoor seating. While comfortable, it doesn't have the same charm as the indoor space, which is more visually appealing. Overall, a great dining experience with a solid menu and excellent service. Would definitely recommend!

Perhaps one of the top 10 meals ever. An incredibly well put together feed me set menu. Every dish a standout. Flavours exploding everywhere but pairings for each stage so well thought out. Seriously impressive. 500ml Riesling Chardonnay 50:50 blend also fascinating and the whole thing unbelievably good value.

Overall the foods are good, fried rice has nice wok hei. The charsiu have tender texture and good coating. Just need to improve the service

This place is a must-visit in Melbourne. The design and architecture are clean and inviting, encouraging you to enjoy every moment. The food is incredibly fresh and expertly curated by the chef. We highly recommend trying the raw beef

they really served us an iceberg lettuce wedge, poured some dressing, and called it a day. On top of that, (new year’s service, sure, but) a pre-made dessert took over half an hour to arrive. Take away their hat.

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at Lagoon Dining. It’s not a long menu but we had decided beforehand to choose the “feed me” menu. We had booked and there was no delay on being shown to our table. The restaurant was relatively quiet at 6.00 pm on Saturday but gradually became very busy during the evening. We were quickly provided with menus, water and drinks list. Service throughout our meal was very good - friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed all the food, particularly the beef tartare and roasted pork. The fried chicken was very average - nothing particularly special. The wine list provided us with sufficient choice and we had 2 very nice white wines. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience.

A quite small place this exceptional restaurant offers you high end menu with new tastes and a great variety. we enjoyed the set menu and some cocktails (try a Lagoon Sour). It is an efficient place. all our courses were outstanding with dishes we've not tried before. As it's small and the tables close together it might not be the place for a deep and meaningful conversation but we had a great little birthday celebration for four.
