Oh, Tita Rivera. You are in the middle of a busy shopping area, and a little hard to find to be honest. There is some seating outside in the front, but everyone goes to sit in the beautiful patio in the back. My friend and I entered the restaurant, not knowing if it was a seat-yourself kind of restaurant or a wait-to-be-seated, so we looked a little lost at the front. One of the servers gave us "are-you-stupid-or-just-tourists" look and told us to seat ourselves. LOL!
It was a funny way to start our experience at La Tita Rivera. Fortunately, it got better from there. Our waitress was a sweetheart, and I could tell all of their staff was struggling to keep up with the many customers. Expect a wait for food, drinks, for your order to be taken, for the check, etc. This is a place where time gets lost and friends meet up to catch up.
My friend and I both ordered the Estrella Galicia beer, and it was the best beer I had in England and Spain (boo warm flat beer in London). It was cold, refreshing, and perfect for a warm summer day. We ended up ordering the slider sampler with four options. I can't remember which ones we ordered but there are only 5 choices. One of them was a tuna steak and I thought it was not that great. However, the rest were fine. I would complain about the artisan bread used for the sliders though. They're not soft at all and were quite rough on the roof of my mouth. I get that it's local and artisan, but I would try to serve the bread warm or something.
I wouldn't say this is a place I would return to, simply because there are so many great outdoor dining options in Madrid and have more interesting offerings than sliders.
