"This fine dining establishment on Avenue du Mont-Royal is simple sophistication personified. From the look – muted black-and-white décor, bare bulbs, shiny wood banquettes – to the food, all is economical and judicious. The kitchen is just as adept at preparing fish and sea goodies (if you want a real treat, share the seafood platter to start) as meat, a talent best exemplified in the surf ‘n’turf menu options. In the past those have included merguez sausages served with scallops, leeks and lentils, or Cajun spiced Arctic char served with ribs, Monte Carlo mashed potatoes and greens. A perennial favourite is their take on the Quebec classic, French onion soup, which they make with aged cheddar and a smoked ham hock."

Our friend, Dominic, started this restaurant with his buddies at Réservoir. The food is very meat-centric, but there are dishes to please even the pickiest vegetarian. They often have a good selection of oysters, which is nice to see, when we're so far from the sea. Service was pleasant and fun. The decor is a little too hipster for me, but I can forgive them because of their excellent wines. Overall, a big hit.

Loved this place. Right from the ambience to how friendly the staff is. We sat by the bar and had the walleye ceviche, Jamaican patties, homemade charcuterie board and the bone marrow. Everything was just delicious! We were warned to not over order, so we just stuck to ordering a bunch of apps. Camille our server was awesome- she made us some amazing cocktails and gave us great recommendations on the menu. Dessert was the icing on the cake - la barre chocolat - So delicious with the graham cracker crust. All in all, an excellent experience. We would definitely come back.

Overpriced... definitely not mouth watering. Would not accommodate scrambling eggs instead of sunny side up. I think they're trying to be super hip and forgetting about taste. Would not recommend this place for brunch. I also specifically asked to ensure that the eggs were runny for the Benedict and they were fully hardened on the inside. My boyfriends toast was inedible as it was rock solid with no butter and the bacon was undercooked and more like pork belly or pork rind very very fatty.

Our hotel (Like A Hotel), recommended this place. We wanted something with some Quebec flare and unique offerings so we went here. This restaurant isn't very big and the menu doesn't have a lot...which I consider a good thing! Too many restaurants can overwhelm with their variety. They have both English and French menus which is fantastic for an silly Anglophone like myself. The servers there are great. They seem to be fluent in English and very approachable! We brought my inlaws with us who don't speak French or English, and they waited patiently while we translated the menu for my inlaws. I really appreciated this! They knew their menu well and explained their offerings fully. When I enquired about Wine they explained and suggested their preferences. The overall restaurant has what I consider to be a simpler look. Someone drew the Twitter, Facebook, Instagram symbols in chalk and I found that hilariously impressive. They have a giant chalk board displaying their desserts, too, though they were in French so we asked our server about them. The menu has offerings with veal and rabbit. I'm not a fan of either so I went with the "safe" option of Pork chops. I really liked my dish. There was a lot of meat, tasty tomatoes, and this bread stuff underneath the pork chops. I can't explain it really but I loved whatever it was. It was slightly sweet and complimented the pork chops well. We ordered a meat sampler dish and THIS was good! It came with sides of different mustard sauces and a rabbit salad that my boyfriend didn't care for because he found it tasted too much like liver. I loved this one mustard with seeds in it. It also had some vegetables as garnish. We devoured it all. My Mother-in-law wasn't pleased with her food. They serve dishes in plain things like glass jars and steel buckets, which turned her off. (Not myself...since I thought it to be just the style.) My significant other ordered a rabit dish and was pleased with his. The food came out a bit slow but I have experienced slower moving restaurants. I enjoyed the dining experience. The appetizer did come out fast. I think that I would return here for my pork chop dish. Perhaps they will expand their menu just a tad bit more so that non-adventurous folks like myself can 'explore' with foods we are more used to. I think the staff put a lot of effort and I think they were some of the most memorable servers on my vacation.

I'm so glad I stumbled onto this place. It's in a quaint little location surrounded by cute cafes, shops and other amenities. Parking was easy to find. We loved the virtual check in and, even though it was a last minute booking, "like a hotel" was very accommodating. Instead of a hotel room, we had a 3 bedroom apartment (3 queen beds) with living room, kitchenette (fridge/freezer, stove, dishwasher, sink) and good sized bathroom. It was very spacious, clean and quiet. Beds and pillows were comfortable. I wish we could have stayed longer!

My girlfriend and I went to La Salle because she wanted "French Cuisine" and with all the raving reviews, I decided to take her here. A lot of people say that reservations is a must, therefore we called and placed a reservation. We thought we were making a reservation for a table (the person on the phone didn't really speak fluent English), but when we got there, it was actually a reservation for 2 seats at the bar since the whole place was booked. While we're already there, we might as well try it out. After being seated at the bar, we were given a menu and my girlfriend decide to go with the pork chops and I decided to go for the rabbit leg (a.k.a. Plat) since a lot of Yelpers say it's amazing. As for appetizer, we ordered the Foie Gras. After about 15 minutes, we were offered bread, and I don't know if it was because I was hungry, but damn, those bread with butter were darn good. Anyways, even after 10 minutes of waiting, our server did not come and take our order. We waited and waited...after another 5 minutes, our server finally came and took our order. The appetizer came 10 minutes after we ordered, it looked like a piece of steak on top of bread. When we dug our fork in, boy was I wrong. The texture of the Foie Gras (Pork/duck liver) was like jello, or some kind of gelatinous piece of meat. I took my first bite, and it was okay, the taste was creamy and gamey. My girlfriend didn't like it much and I probably won't order it again. The entrees arrived probably 15 minutes after we finished our appetizer. The rabbit leg was smaller than I expected, but boy was it good with the bacon and mash potatoes! If you order this dish, definitely take a bit of rabbit, bacon and mash potato and eat it all at once...it's like an explosion in your mouth with the sauce! Although, I must say that if I was blindfolded and given a taste test of rabbit's leg and chicken, I probably won't be able to tell the difference. I also tried a bit of my girlfriend's pork chop, it had great taste and texture! After finishing our entree, we had to wait a long long time for someone to take away our plates and even longer to get our check! We waited probably a good 20 minutes before the owner (I think) came over and asked us how our dinner was and went to the server and told him to give us our check. Overall, the food was pretty good and I would come back and try other entrees. The Foie Gras is definitely a love or hate thing, for me, the texture was a turn off. As for the service, I know it was busy, but I hate it when restaurants treat me unequally, mostly because I look like a kid. I can't really blame them, because A LOT of restaurants treat me this way. But, I must say, I have to deduct a point because of the horrible service. If you want to come here, definitely make a reservation a day in advance or so. The food is definitely a bit pricey, don't expect to drop down anything less than 50$ for 2 people.

We got the veal Carpaccio (delicious) and the endive salad (disappointed, too much blue cheese) to start. Then the vegetable risotto and the tender salmon with cream were incredible. Overall a great experience, the atmosphere was friendly and the service fast enough

La Salle a Manger serves delicious foods in a family style format. We went as a group of ten, including two children, and had a great experience. I will caution that there aren't a ton of good food options if your children are at all picky (as one of ours was) but the meal, the experience and the ambiance were superb. This is definitely a 'eat each other's food' kind of a place!
