kōnā & Slurp Ramen

The fourth ramen place I've tried in Copenhagen and by far my least favorite because the broth of the pork ramen is too salty for my taste. Saltier than Mr. Ramen. But they have the best chicken karaage I have tried ever! You have to be careful pushing the ramen bowls towards you because it doesn't glide on the table. Easy to tip over. Spilled some of the ramen because of this. Good service, staff is very attentive. Place is cozy, seated around where the staff are cooking in the middle.

Kona is - without a doubt - one of the best japanese restaurants in cph. Their karaage is absolutely divine - the crispiness was simply out of this world. It's hard to say if we just had a lucky batch, but it's definitely worth trying. Another dish I would recommend is the squid noodles with chicken heart pate - a quite unique and interesting combination. The sashimi was also exceptional, fresh and high-quality fish. The katsu sando was another standout dish, it had juicy and delicious flavors! Just yummy!!! However, there were a couple of areas where Kona fell short. Their "kimchi" was a bit of a letdown, as it tasted more like fermented cabbage rather than authentic Korean kimchi. Additionally, the grilled aubergine with scallion and sesame ginger dressing was just okay, not quite living up to the high standards set by the other dishes. The overall experience was fantastic and the restaurant's interior design truly added to the ambiance. Kona is a great place to dine in and is highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and delicious japanese dining experience in cph.

The reservation is easy to make online. The restaurant is very digital, with QR code and there you basically order online your dishes and pay online too. There is however still possibility of paying by cash, only if you have the exact amount. Our waiter from Croatian was lovely and definitely made our night. He was friendly in a sincere way and showed up at the right time, not intruding in our evening. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, however the high chairs aren't the most comfortable to sit. With the concept of an izakaya, I hoped for more comfortable seating as you are supposed to drink and eat and so on until the next day comes. The dishes are average price for Copenhagen, but portions are small, izakaya style yet, but I still think it should be parallel to the price. Best dish was the cod dish. Delicate, lovely harmony with the microgreens. There is smoked oil in there, but honestly I couldn't detect much smoke aroma there. However, still delicious and recommended. Other more traditional Japanese dishes are a bit disappointing. The karaage was not crunchy. It was freshly fried, yes, but felt soft and hard at the same time. Oil was too cold? Batter mixture has too much starch in it? The flavor of the chicken is ginger-y and tasty, but I hoped for more crispy chicken. The sando has amazingly fried pork! But sauce was too little, caggabe is not cripsy (too old or wrong type?), and the sandwich bread should be cut thicker. The peppers was fresh and nicely grilled. Oddly they pair pretty well with fresh dill. But for its price, I'm not sure if it was worth it. The Japanese Mayonnaise was homemade, but overpowering creamy and lacks salt and umami. Same for the Wasabi mayo, too creamy and too subtle in flavor. They both don't compliment the dishes they come with. I really wanted to visit kōnā because of the profile of the chef (female, 5 years in Noma, 2 years in Japan) and was honestly expecting a bit too much about this restaurant. So most probably I was disappointed due to my own expectation.

Sat outdoors on a quiet Monday. Was a little concerned about the bad reviews, but this restaurant was nearby my hotel so I took and leap and tried it. Their fried chicken was decent, just okay. The miso ramen was “f****** fire” according to my gal, but was very salty Shoyu ramen was amazing, and I finished it quick. Would come back.

Tasty food with small portion but surprisingly can get one very full. Fried chicken is crispy while pork sandwich is crispy outside the port while juicy inside. Noodle is surprisingly not spicy but rather salty in its own way. It’s good enough value for lunch but still a rather price place for lunch compare to many other lunch places.

The Omakase concept of eight chef chosen dishes is great. You basically get your own private kitchen shared with only a handful of other guests, where the food is prepared right in front of you: Japanese inspired dishes based on local ingredients. These are served in a modern, industrial setting with a buzzing atmosphere. 5/5 for the concept and ambiance. The service was impeccable: very personal and engaging throughout and great recommendations. 5/5 Food wise, the Aubergine sandwich, the Miso soup, and the spike fish sashimi were great. Other dishes in the eight course menu were interesting, but unfortunately lacking in flavour for the most part. Combined with the extremely high price point, it simply must taste better. For 2x Omakase + 1 glass of wine, one Glass of sake, one beer and one cocktail, the total price was 1780,- which is outrageous compared to the dishes. Of course you are paying extra for the novel concept for Danes, but a more appropriate price would've been 1100,-. 3/5 for food. P.S very surprising to not find Japanese single malts on the menu.

Absolutely amazing food. Everything is just perfectly made and super delicious! Worth trying everything! The staff is also very nice and welcoming. The online menu is very handy, but could have some pictures to help choosing.

Finally tried out this restaurant that had been in my wishlist since it opened. Food was 5/5, service 5+ (all waiters were friendly and attentive), prices were a bit above average for the food quantity, the izakaya part of the restaurant is the Japanese version of a bar so don’t expect to have a dining experience with a big table like in a classic restaurant. The cod fish and the kadsu sandu were definitely the highlights of the dinner 🌟
