Kellogg’s Diner, a beloved Williamsburg staple since 1973, now offers curated comfort food and a cool vibe, perfect for late-night indulgence.
"A modern diner located in Brooklyn, New York, with a long diverse menu but reportedly limited vegetarian and vegan options." - Jaya Saxena
"For a long time, the first thing you saw when you emerged from the Metropolitan-Lorimer station in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg was the classic, neon-lighted Kellogg’s Diner on the same corner. When that 24/7 iteration shuttered last year, it seemed a sad end to casual, affordable eating in a neighborhood so overrated and overpriced that it can at times feel like a New York outpost of LA's The Grove. And while Kellogg’s, which reopened in September after a redesign of its space and menu, is now absolutely in the former category in ways both welcome (gold-hued mood lighting, a neutral palette that’s easier on the eyes) and less so (the present impossibility of getting a table being antithetical to the very concept of a diner, for one thing), the menu is available 24/7, mostly delicious, and well-priced. Chef Jackie Carnesi's menu is at its best with its traditional Tex-Mex options—eminently shareable nachos ($12, with or without steak), enchiladas with red chili gravy and rice and beans ($20). Pastry chef Amanda Perdomo’s cakes, pies, and other sweet treats shine brightest, displayed as they are in a glass case at the counter, in particular a passionfruit key lime pie ditty doused in cool whip. —C.H." - CNT Editors
"Kellogg’s Diner is so very back, as the Williamsburg institution, opens the doors to a new chapter. Some may question whether Kellogg’s is still a diner by its strictest definitions (it now takes Resy, for one). Either way, the food at Kellogg’s is delicious and remains affordable. The menu — much of it Tex-Mex — includes enchiladas, poblano meatloaf, fried chicken with mac-and-cheese, housemade flour tortillas, strawberry pretzel salad, and one of most minty ice cream sundaes around (skipping dessert is not an option!). Eventually, the hope is to restore Kellogg’s as a 24/7 option. An upstairs bar is also in the works." - Emma Orlow, Eater Staff
"New York’s Kellogg’s Diner has been reimagined with a Tex-Mex spin." - ByKate Kassin
"An all-night anchor on the corner of Metropolitan and Union since 1926, Kellogg’s Diner was, in recent decades, most famous for that one scene in Girls—and not necessarily for its good soup. The post-party, pre-dawn-shift Williamsburg diner, with booths where relationships might have broken or formed over under-salted eggs, is back with a glow-up from the same team that spruced up Old John’s. Though they’re just open for dinner (for now), and though it seems a little silly to make a reservation, Kellogg’s still looks and feels like a diner—just the movie set version, with shiny chrome trim, and beige-pink booths. And though the menu, sprinkled with Tex-Mex dishes, is more ambitious than your average steak-and-eggs joint, the food is warm and homey. We can see ourselves whiling away hours over things like crisp fried pickles served with ranch, or enchiladas in a tangy tomatillo salsa, which sit comfortably next to pancakes and burgers. The portions are huge, but save space for dessert. The passion fruit Tajín tart alone is worth a trip. photo credit: Sonal Shah photo credit: Sonal Shah photo credit: Sonal Shah photo credit: Sonal Shah photo credit: Sonal Shah" - Sonal Shah
