House of Georgie Sorento's Pizza

There was no fresh basil or mozzarella on the margherita pizza—just a lot of processed cheese, with a small amount of dried basil. Marinara sauce was not cooked properly, it had chunks of uncooked tomatoes. It felt like regular cheese pizza may be worse than that. I won’t be going back and definitely wouldn’t recommend the place though the old gentleman been working hard till late night.

Firstly, the gentleman working was super kind. Great customer service. We popped in for a late dinner and he was working the cash and cooking all alone. Perhaps the owner? I will say the food was disappointing. The pizza was bland yet had a weird underlying flavor. The chicken wings also tasted like they were old and re deep fried. They were super tough and dry, we each had one and tossed the rest out. I was a little concerned as there were multiple pre-made pizzas sitting out in the open. Perhaps for slices? But there were a ton and it was around midnight, no refrigeration or packaging. I'm never one to comment on food safety but it looked a little sketchy. Won't be returning to this place.

It is my first time visiting Canada. This pizza store gives me a very good first impression of this area! The pizza is amazingly delicious. Strongly recommend!

I ordered from this reasturant for the first time the other night, the gentlman working alone was very nice and personable, the atmosphere was cozy. I got a large pepperoni pizza , and honestly it was probably one of the best pizzas I've had in a while. Definitely has a more homestyle quality to it and it was hefty, so a few slices were very filling and made great leftovers. I will definitely be trying their other menu items and don't mind supporting a small business over a Pizza Pizza or Domino's.

I would argue this was one of the best pizza's I've ever had.

Some of the best pizza and food I’ve had on Elgin! Service amazing. Owners amazing. Definitely going to be a new regular spot for my friends and I. Also open late which is great for late night snacks (munchies). They also have amazing homemade gravy, and it’s a must try! So glad we tried this spot!

It's been a while since we were here. Tonight will be the last. The quality is way down. The fries in the poutine were barely cooked. The were a few cheese curds in the gravy but that's it. The pizza was super thin and smaller in diameter compared to the past. 1 for 1 quality pizza at best. I am extremely disappointed that they sacrificed quality to save cost.

I've always just gone to the Pizza Pizza on Elgin Street. But recently I decided to try something different and I remembered that this place has been around the corner. And the pizza is great. I posted on Twitter about it and someone commented that if I haven't tried the pizza with gravy, I'm an amateur. And someone on Facebook mentioned the gravy too. So I'm definitely going to have to try that next time. Last night after covering the media night at the opening of for wheelies rollerskating rink, I told the Uber to take me right to House of Georgie and I sat there and had a couple of pepperoni slices while watching videos on my phone. Oh, and last time I was there, two different dogs strolled right in at separate times and wanted meat. The owner apparently feeds them. It's so cute.

What is special about this place is that they offer a beef gravy to go with pizza. You might think this sounds strange, but you really should not judge it until you try it. It's really delicious! My only criticism with this place is that one day I got a slice, and it was old and not warm enough. The owner was not receptive to my complaint. So what I would say is, if you want to eat pizza here, make sure that it is freshly made for you.

Ordered a small cheese and small Canadian. Saw Georgie hand make them. After two cigarettes, Georgie pulls them out them fresh out the oven and personally delivers them to us to our car outside. I don't know too much pizza but these two tasted awesome. Sauce is just right. George is pretty smug looking, probably cause he knows how good his pizza is.

Man that's good pizza. I'm a native New Yorker from the Bronx. And a bit of a pizza snob. Georgie's pizza is one of the best outside of the Bronx. It's just a little store front shop. But if your near by stop in and grab a slice. The guys are friendly and the service was quick. Great place

Great tasting pizza and great service. Today is December 31 2020 and they called me to drop off a bottle of wine and medium pizza on the house! They are offering free wine and pizza to their customers today to celebrate the new year! Keep up the great customer service and great food!

Unfortunately House of Georgies was sold recently to a new owner, and I wish the owners the best, but their gravy and pizza is no where near as good as it used to be. I don't know exactly what they have changed, but whatever it is, it really isn't very good. It's not terrible... Just not good, and definitely not great like it used to be. It's the little things too, like the gravy is very plain, and so is the pizza sauce. It's too bad...

Quality has gone way down while their prices go way up. Their personal size "meat" lovers, used to have real ham and quality meat. Ordered one tonight, and it's just cheap lunch meat and cold cuts, that just taste like salt. Their prices are also completely different from their menu online. Last time I ordered a personal size pizza, salad and canned drink, it was 22$. Tonight it was $28.00? If I wanted cheap lunch meat I would have went to subway. Gross. $10.00 for a small salad which is mainly lettuce a sliced tomato lol

the pizzas were absolutely delicious. especially the aubergine. i ordered 3 large for my office. Greek. meat lover. aubergine. however the Greek was not delivered. Instead I got a vegetarian. disappointed for a first order. But quality was excellent.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?! GRAVY ON PIZZA? I love gravy! I love pizza! How can I go wrong? Oh right mediocre pizza and mediocre gravy will do that but at 2am when nothing else is around, this place is definitely edible. If you're sober...this is a threesome you'll regret :)

No masks worn by customers or staff.... and they're serving people for eat-in dining (Yikes). Definitely will not be returning.

Is this place related to the Sorento's Pizza of my youth (early 70s), which was once located on the west side of Elgin Street (at approximately Waverly)? That is still the best pizza I've ever had.

I was only visiting Ottawa for 3 days, but went to House of Georgie's twice during that short time - that's how great it is! Cheese or pepperoni pizza (ask for the gravy on the side to dip) was delicious! Teuta (one of the owners) is the sweetest and most generous lady! She was so warm, welcoming and fun one late night when we came in (not to mention she gave us free slices of pizza!!). Thank you Teuta

Client service is really poor on the phone and in person! Pizza was terribly burnt. When we notified the restaurant over the phone right away, owner asked us to bring the pizza back to show proof of the burnt food. When we returned the pizza back to the restaurant owner refused to take back the pizza and asked us to pay for the second pizza. My son and I left the restaurant very disappointed.

This place is surprisingly delicious. Both myself and my wife love the pepperoni pizza with gravy on the side (and she was really skeptical!). The crust, cheese, and type of meat are all really well chosen and work well together. The pepperoni is delicious and a bit more like ham than most pepperoni. And the cost is very reasonable. Strongly recommended. Not really a place for a sit down dinner though unless it's a warm night and you'd like to sit outside.

I ordered a small pepperoni at 11:20 - It never arrived uOttawa (waited over an hour) - I called back spoke to Costa, he said he would call right back - i gave hime my phone number- , he didn't. The pizza is good but the service is the worst! Order elsewhere.

Pizzas pretty good, and they give my dog a couple pieces of peperoni when I pick up a pizza

I love this place SO much. When I visit from out of town, I get the gravy slice. Once, I even CALLED from out of town and ordered a surprise delivery for a friend who lives near-by. They handled everything which such love and care. The food, the service.... this place is one of those rare gems, man.

Not sure if they got a new chef recently..but everything I've gotten from there has been disapointing. My chicken souvlaki was basically tzatziki soup in a soggy pita. Stick to the pizza.

This is midnight pizza, and with that qualification, it earns 4 stars. I only go there for the pepperoni pizza with gravy (on the side).

Absolutely horrible customer service, they are trying to scam customers by saying that orders from past deliveries have not been paid for. The father and son will turn up at your house at 11 and 12 at night harassing you for money. It's too bad because the food was actually quite good. Customer service is everything though so please give your business to another business that treats its customers with respect and doesn't try and scam them out of money. Really horrible people.

Good pizza. Not cheap, but lots of toppings and cheese. I didn't have a chance to eat my take-out while it was hot (my own fault); I'm sure it was even more delicious then. Garlic sauce is the real stuff: it must be good for you, but use sparingly. I'll be back!

Ordered a pizza with a estimated 40 min for its delivery time. Still waiting for the pizza which is an hour passed the 40 minute timeframe it was supposed to be delivered and counting. I.e. 2 hours for a pizza ? As a business who already makes clients wait 40minutes for a fast food, this seems to be more than a misstep. The pizza place did not even call to tell us they would be late or as they said had trouble finding the driver. It's almost 10 pm and while owner said he would give us 15% off the order, dinner at 10 pm is not so appetizing. 3 dollars of 38 dollars really doesn't help. If a driver is unavailable do not accept orders! This is greedy of the owner and unfair to customers. Will never order from here again. Should have know. From previous reviews that were based on drunken nights and bad ideas.

Don't worry about anything other than the Gravy on top of the pizza. Other than that...why would you care. These people out gravy on top of pizza and let you eat it for money. I'll make that trade every single time.

Best pizza ever! Transferred in Ottawa from Montreal to Toronto. Late night see the pizza guy at the greyhound station, takes my order, very kindly! Quick and fast, even offers a tour around Ottawa with out next visit :) Pizza was amazing had extra cheese, was made with LOVE :D Best pizza we have ever had made our night with our starvation!

I went to have spaghetti, and received a very kind service! The owners of the restaurant were extra caring, and the food was absolutely delicious with plenty portion! Really lovely breads, too! If I had lived in Ottawa, I would have eaten at theirs every day.

The pizza here is funny, and if it were more expensive I'd be harsher. It's got a thick but good crust, tasting like pizza dough and not like focaccia or something. Where it gets weird is with the cheese - the heaps of cheese - way more cheese than I want, to the point where I ask for reduced cheese. It's definitely sacrilege as far as proper pizza goes - if you're from Brooklyn, by God, you'll have a conniption here - but it still makes a good meal.
