"One of only a few hotels set in one of the city’s bustling residential neighborhoods, there’s a distinctly authentic feel about Hotel Brummell. From the urban design of the lobby to the locals sipping café con leche on the window bench, Hotel Brummell is Barcelona through and through. While the Poolside Standard is an excellent option for budget travelers, we can’t resist the Brummell Penthouse. There are two of these, situated at the very top of the hotel, each featuring its own private outdoor bathtub and terrace, and a spectacular bedside view across the city. For all things food, Brummell works with Istanbul-born Seyma Ozkaya Erpul, the woman behind local favorites Funky Bakery and Funky Eatery. Ozkaya has set up her own in-hotel bakery from where she distributes sweet and savory danishes, babkas, boreks, and the highly addictive and ultra-cheesy Basque cheesecake." - Gemma Askham, Isabelle Kliger

"Hotel Brummell is a new concept of ‘casual luxury’: eliminating artifice and creating a truly different experience. Their creative team have managed to mix the Nordic style and pieces from Sri Lanka to create a cosy, Mediterranean atmosphere. The hotel contains 20 rooms decorated with tailor-made pieces and amenities from Malin + Goetz, just like the communal areas – the patio, swimming pool and sauna – designed to recharge your batteries for the next step of your journey in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Whether you reserve your room or drop in to have a drink, don’t miss this tiny urban oasis." - ZeClé

"There’s a refreshingly down-to-earth sensibility at play here, probably due somewhat to the neighborhood’s abundance of cheap watering holes, which in turn fuel the charming tapas-and-galleries vibe on every street." - Mark Fedeli

"How did it strike you on arrival? One of only a few hotels set in one of the city’s bustling residential neighborhoods, there’s a distinctly authentic feel about Hotel Brummell. From the urban design of the lobby to the locals sipping café con leche on the window bench, Hotel Brummell is Barcelona through and through. What’s the crowd like? Visitors here have a healthy glow about them, as if they’ve just come in from a run, or finished one of the hotel's complimentary yoga classes. Tell us about your room. While the Poolside Standard is an excellent option for budget travelers, we can’t resist the Brummell Penthouse. There are two of these, situated at the very top of the hotel, each featuring its own private outdoor bathtub and terrace, and a spectacular bedside view across the city. What's the bed like? Queen-size bed with 100-percent cotton sheets. How's the bathroom? Choose your roommate wisely! The open-plan room and bathroom is best suited to guests who are very comfortable together. Other key details include a rain shower, heated floors, and homemade MMLL bathroom products. How's the Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi here is totally free. Anything stand out about other services and features? Brummell has partnered with local wellness specialists Beyond BCN to offer complimentary yoga and boxing classes, which take place in the hotel’s light-flooded loft. And if that's not enough activity for you, there's a complimentary running club that puts guests and locals through their paces on the nearby hills of Montjuïc every Tuesday. Book online if you'd like to take advantage of the half-day bike rental as well. After all that exercise, treat yourself to some time on the roof terrace—selfies in the plunge pool are sure to rake in the Instagram likes. What was most memorable about your stay? This hotel is a real treat for the health-and-wellness set. Bottom line: worth it, and why? The small Poolside Standard room offers great value. In the low season, the Penthouses are an incredible deal as well. All in all, you can't go wrong with a stay here." - Isabelle Kliger

Absolutely loved our stay and experience here. The staff were welcoming, enthusiastic, and kind. Everything was clean and decorated in a fun and unique way. The coffee was delicious, and we were very comfortable, both in sleeping and in walking everywhere! We used the sauna several times, and would definitely utilize the pool if we were staying in the summer. Would highly recommend.

We have just returned from an excellent stay in Room 53 (Standard room with pool view) at this hotel. The room wasn't enormous, but very cosy and with a good bathroom. There are views through the glass door (opens on to the fire exit) over the rood tops to the hills behind - see images. There is no window as such in the room but it was light and airy, with a comfy double bed. The staff were all super friendly. It was too cold to use the pool area but this looked a nice area to relax in the summer. The hotel was very quiet, even overnight on a Saturday - it's in a quiet area of the city, but an easy walk to most places. There was complimentary tea and coffee in the lounge area, plus an honesty bar. Highly recommended for a stay in Barcelona

Amazing experience. We just returned from a stay at Brummell, and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were clean, well kept and well appointed. The location is nice and quiet and easy to get anywhere in the city. I've been in the service industry for 25 years now so I tend to nitpick other establishments, and I literally have nothing near negative to say. We will definitely be back.

Had an amazing stay at Hotel Brummell! The location is perfect, close to the city center, the beach, and just a short walk to the Olympic Stadium, which was great for catching a game. The hotel itself has a stylish, relaxed vibe, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Loved the outdoor pool and the wellness facilities. Would definitely stay here again

A boutique hotel that is excellent in every way. Every member of the staff was friendly, helpful and seemed genuinely happy to see us. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet. But a few blocks away is a lively street full of tapas bars frequented by locals. It is a short walk to the Metro which will take you to any of the important sites. The hotel cafe served pastries - made on site! The banana bread with tahini glaze was a breakfast highlight.

We experienced the Brummell as a relaxing retreat, almost like an oasis of tranquility amidst the bustling and energetic city life. The charm of the hotel goes far beyond what is normally expected - it's all about the human touch that paves the way for a comfortable stay: the smiles, the helping hands, the concept of an "honesty bar" etc. In a nutshell, the Brummell served as a super-charger for our batteries.

Totally enjoyed this hotel. The staff was more than gracious. We arrived way to early to check in but we we invited to have coffee and then we recovered from jet lag on the peaceful back deck with a long sleep on the outside bed couches. At our check in time the staff gently woke us to let us know our room was ready. The room was nicely done and the bed was great. The night time views of the city were incredible and we able to easily walk to two different restaurants. One for early food and then a second meal and both were awesome. The staff arranged all our transportation as well. The hotel cafe was excellant and the staff charming.

The hotel is high quality and comfortable, but the people really make it special. I had kind of a rough start to my trip (tether your phone to yourself or have it surgically attached before using the metro!), and they were SO good to me, did everything they could to help. The hotel had everything I needed to be comfortable while I sorted out the mess- it was really the perfect place to be stuck, and the sauna was the perfect place to have a good cry. Food by funky was excellent, and the food available in the neighborhood also excellent.
