This Charming Austrian Town Is a Favorite Among Skiers, Royals, and Foodies

"I loved the Hotel Arlberg's classic Alpine atmosphere and family-run warmth: it's been in the Schneider family for generations and offers a cozy Stube restaurant for fondue and raclette, half-board rates that include breakfast and dinner, a fantastic spa and wellness area, an outdoor pool with breathtaking mountain views, suites with large soaking tubs, and the reassuring presence of Schneider family members who walk around and engage with guests." - Todd Plummer Todd Plummer Todd Plummer is a travel and style writer from Boston with over ten years of experience. "What was once an impressive farmhouse in Austria’s lovely Lech Valley has been run for the past 80 years by the same family as a luxe yet unpretentious resort that draws a discerning clientele—including the Dutch royal family. A renovation several years ago added a much-needed spa(which features a sauna, steam bath, and a heated outdoor pool with panoramic views of the mountains)and46 new rooms in a separate building(most of which are larger suites intended to comfortably accommodate families). While rooms are thoroughly modernized—some even feature steam showers—the decorenvelops guests in Old World charm, with detailsranging from old Austrian stovesto elegantly carved wooden furniture and hand-painted antiques. As of 2017, the hotel has a new chef, who serves creative, modern cuisine in the Jägerstube, the formal dining room that was recently updated to include floor-to-ceiling windows for better light and views. The Kutscherstube, a warm, cozy room with a large, ceramic Austrian stove, offers more traditional Austrian fare, such as boiled ibex sausage and venison ragout."

An Unforgettable Family Getaway We recently returned from a truly magical family holiday at Hotel Arlberg Lech and cannot recommend it highly enough. From start to finish, our experience was absolutely flawless, and we have already decided that this gorgeous establishment will be our new family tradition for years to come. The entire team deserves a perfect five-star rating in every single category. The service and attention to detail are what truly set this hotel apart. A special mention must go to the incredible manager, Pascal. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect, helping us find the ideal room for our family's needs. His genuine warmth and willingness to assist in all aspects of our stay made us feel incredibly welcome and valued. For our children, the highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the kids' club, run by the wonderful coordinator, Lilli. Her endless enthusiasm and fantastic creative fun, crafts, and games made our children's holiday so special. She has a remarkable talent for making every child feel special with her kind attention to detail, and our kids are still talking about the amazing time they had. Beyond the impeccable staff, the hotel itself is a one-of-a-kind treasure. The food was nothing short of exceptional, with every meal a culinary delight. The facilities are truly first-class, offering everything we could have possibly needed and more. We leave with incredible memories and cannot wait to come back and make more. Thank you, Hotel Arlberg, for an unforgettable family holiday!

Hotel Arlberg in Lech feels like stepping into a piece of Alpine history, where tradition meets understated modern luxury. The earthy tones and retro-inspired details echo the mountains outside, creating a harmony of nature and design. The pool area, lined with green-and-white umbrellas, adds a playful yet elegant touch that feels straight from a vintage postcard. What elevates it all is the staff’s genuine politeness and attentiveness, making every moment feel personal. For anyone passionate about the Alps, it’s a week(end) escape that feels timeless yet vibrantly modern.

Excellent service with staff that have clearly been well educated. Always attentive and do the little extra every time. Half-pension is great value with ambitious and high level kitchen. Doesn’t harm that the location is heavenly. We will be coming back every year.

Hotel Arlberg exceeded every expectation. From the very first greeting, we felt as if we were visiting family rather than staying at a chain hotel. The team is warm & genuine. An authentic family vibe – the personal touch gives the hotel its soul.||||Wellness is amazing. The spa pampers all the senses and the treatments are true craftsmanship.||||In short: nothing is missing here—except perhaps the date of our next booking. We’re already counting down the days until we return to Lech!

Great team (everyone), great rooms, every detail has been looked after, beautifully maintained and stunningly manicured garden. Our family had a great week in hotel Arlberg. Thank you so much!

Hi, ||||Had an amazing time while there. If there are two things to note, it would be the following:||||1. Aircon (at times it got too hot and we had to open the windows while being ground floor), meaning you lose some of the privacy||||2. A junior suite should not be on ground floor overall. Amazing room but what is the point paying more if you are on ground floor and you have windows with barricades to look at (yes there are some flowers)||||Apart from that everything is excellent and would come back
