"If you're visiting Highland Park you won't miss the iconic sign "Highland Theatre". They play current films for you at a low price. The theatre is comfortable and very classic, not too big, not too small. But really, the self serve butter station is the best." - Friend of a Friend

Great little community theatre...historical and still ticking. Has specials on certain days on entrance fees. A community mainstay. Shows and times vary, new and popular movies. Small venue but it works...very family friendly and snacks...popcorn..and all great treats are available. Seating is first come first serve...gets crowded sometimes...but the ambiance works. If you like a community feel to watching movies...try this place. Not for the quiet at heart...workers are friendly. Catch a movie before or after shopping with Fig Corridor...restaurants and clothing. Vintage Theatre...support. Parking is a challenge but it is available on side streets.

Favorite spot in hlp!! Old fashion movie theater, with great and friendly staff! Ticket price is really good and they also have family days!

Nice new seats in this historic theatre, with $6 Tuesdays and Thursdays for first run movies. Alternate rows and nearby seats blocked for Covid. The big 1925 auditorium was draped and split into three theaters long ago, one larger than the others. Friendly management, and staff keeps things clean in one of the last old neighborhood movie houses in SoCal.

First time here in about 15+ years or so. A friend premiered his Indy-Skate film here, ‘Perennial’. Nostalgic and dingy, if you’re into that!

I was in the mood to see a movie but didnt feel like the crazy price. Got in before 6pm on a sunday and paid only 7 dollars. The place was suprisingly quiet which was awesome. I read other reviews that said the place smelled, the only thing I could smell was perhaps cleaner. I wasn't sitting miserbaly holding my nose. The seats are fine. If you are high maintenance need luxury, you may not like it. But for the rest of us who can do without stadium seating this place is cool and lowkey. To see new movies at half the price is a score! Will definitely be back!!!

Love the old style movie theater! Place has a lot of charm. Everyone was really nice there. $10 as well is great for modern movie prices. Audio was also pretty good for the price (as someone who works on film post production audio mastering) Try not to go to screenings that might have a lot of people as just 1 tall person sitting in front of you will make reading the subtitles impossible and block a lot of the screen. The screen was also wrinkled in the bottom left and there were 3 slight vertical lines that become noticeable if you sit close to the screen. The projectionist was also probably an inexperienced kid as the movie started 30 min late with no previews and such. Not terrible, but just kind of weird.

Went to see the late showing of Ant Man on a Friday night and practically had the theater to ourselves! Only $10 a ticket. Got kids meals with popcorn, candy and a drink for $8. Found free parking in the back ($.50 an hour during the day I think). It was pouring and we had to jump mini rivers to get to the theater and there were roof leaks in the bathrooms. As we walked in the theater the trash was overflowing, they only had a few minutes between showings. The long theater smelled a little dank. Seats were fairly comfortable, had a little recline, plenty of foot room and was able to lift up the arm rests. Wasn’t as great as many reviews had mentioned but we might have caught it on a bad day. We would probably go again, especially now that we know it’s near the yellow line and there’s a bowling alley across the street.
