Hart’s Bakery is a serious contender for one of the UK’s best bakeries - Review - Bristol - The Infatuation

"We’re going to go out on a limb and say that Hart’s is not only one of the UK’s best bakeries, it’s also this nation’s leading train-catching saboteur. Tucked away in one of the converted Victorian archways beneath Bristol Temple Meads station, it makes a very good case for setting your return ticket on fire so you can elope with one of planet earth’s most exceptional, handsome sausage rolls. Out front, locals on benches thumb through little paperbacks, while inside, bakers in green aprons buzz around the prep area crafting loaves of country rye sourdough as tourists enter an indecision spiral at the counter. It’s all achingly charming and you should aim to stop by before lunchtime for two reasons—to ensure you can nab one of the must-try daily specials before they sell out and because hearing “your flat white is ready” being called in a thick West Country accent is an excellent way to start your day." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Been living in Bristol for a couple of years but only been here for the first time today! Location is right next to Temple Meads train station so it was busy on a Saturday morning. Had a cappuccino, flat white, also tried out their black current crumble cake and ham focaccia, both really tasty and prices are reasonable given a coffee nowadays can be £4-5+! If you’re looking for a quick grab and go coffee avoid going during busy times like the weekends and seats are mostly occupied, but overall a really pleasant visit and would recommend to anyone bypassing temple meads area!

Wow...excellent bread, cakes and pastries freshly made to delight the most discerning patrons. Although the place looks unattractive on the outside, crowds of people are queueing to get a bite. The service staff are very friendly and efficient. A experience that warrants repetition to come often. 😋😍🥰🤩

A little difficult to find from the train station but take the steep stairs to the left of the taxi stand - you will not be disappointed! Fantastic flavours and texture - the cheddar, mustard and sesame croissant was exquisite, crisp on the outside and soft inside. Carrot cake was equally good, beautiful texture and the perfect balance of sweetness. Staff were great, sped up my order as I was in a rush for a train. Lovely spot, I can’t believe it took me this long to discover Hart’s!

Been meaning to go for ages - now I’m cross I haven’t been sooner! The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was super chill but busy. There was a decent queue when I arrived that stretched all the way to the door but it only took 5 minutes to be served. The almond croissant was almost certainly the best one I’ve ever had - can’t remember having a better one. My parent had the chocolate and hazelnut croissant and that too was top drawer! The chocolate wasn’t too sweet and there was plenty of it! I’ll 100% be back and I can’t wait.

A lovely spot underneath the rail way, makes a good coffee and some really nice baked goods and food! The quiches steal the show in this little spot, but how lovely the staff are (especially when it’s busy and rammed) makes the whole experience. They really are the best thing about here.

I think pretty much everything i've had from harts has been excellent. The sausage rolls are great if you're hungry they will definitely fill you up as the fillings are huge. Its a great bakery. The only area they could improve is on the hot drinks. I chose not to order a coffee today because there were at least 10 people waiting on hot drinks and the pace of the staff was incredibly slow. On the food counter it was very efficient so I was a little confused.

Google
A really bustling bakery right next to Temple Meads. The latte was nice, and the blackcurrant and sour cream crumble slice was good too, but just super, super busy if you go on a weekday lunchtime like I did. Staff very friendly, and I was served quickly.

Google
Solid artisan bakery, and probably one of the best sausage rolls I've ever eaten. The filling was rich, coarse, bursting with flavour and texture. It almost felt and tasted like meatloaf wrapped in puff pastry. Absolutely delicious. The hazelnut brownie was also amazing, the base was very compact but the top layer was very smooth and creamy, with the taste and texture of an upmarket Ferrero Rocher. Really can't fault the food at all.

Yelp
Literally THE best bakery I've been to. The best in Bristol The best in the UK And probably the best in the world, apart from that bakery I got a custard tart from in Portugal. Cannot recommend highly enough

Yelp
So to find this place is easy when you know how ... come out of the station front entrance, walk towards the left rather than the standard straight out, and keep eyes peeled for a set of steps and a bridge across to the large building standing on its own. Go down the steps and you'll see some arches. Hart's Bakery will likely have some chairs and a table or two outside so identification is easy. Hard to miss. The place wasn't full but was way busier than I expected given the location. I popped in en-route to a meeting over Easton way. I needed something to eat as it was lunchtime and I didn't want to get to the meeting still starved! When you enter the door the interior space is light and bright. The front is dominated by large 'sharable' tables, with a door to the loo located left. Then the counter in front is festooned with cakes and savouries. Coffee machine to the left and a bread stand (all sour-dough apparently!) to your right. Ordering was a breeze. There's a specials board for food, but otherwise, you need to use your eyes on the table where everything is on view. The cakes and such are all uncovered. Looks great but as in so many places I'd question the 'hygiene' of an open display. Service was brisk and super-smiley. I had the veggie sausage roll, a flat white and bought a white sourdough for home. I was pretty happy. Coffee is a single estate from Extract. Very nicely made by a nice man, who somehow knew it was mine even tho he hadn't served me. If you look through the serving area then there's the bakery itself. Everyone seemed happy and were working well together. They sure seemed to be generating a lot of goodies back there. I really enjoyed the whole vibe and the hive of activity going on. They bake for many outlets through the city and from that point of view their location makes sense. It makes less sense in terms of passing trade, but the turnover of eat in and take away orders during my 20 minutes or so sitting in clearly demonstrates that some places are just brilliant enough to become a 'destination'. Well worth popping by next time you're at Temple Meads!

Yelp
While studying at Dbs studios I go to this place on the regs. Freshly hand made (in front of your eyes is you wait long enough) delights. Bread, pastry and cakes. Locally sourced, and dam delicious. One thing I have to point out is the mega sausage rolls. Very high in price but by the heavens are they worth it. A different one each day, pork, black pudding and chives to Thai spiced.... They are the best sausage rolls I have ever tasted in my life. Watch them rolling dough or putting a heart logo on your latte. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Well what a find! Collecting daughter from Temple Meads station and noticed a subtle little sign saying 'Coffee' how can I resist. Down the fire escape and into a railway arch and you find this brilliant little bakery and coffee shop. Good prices, great coffee and frankly bloody amazing cakes

Excellent pastries and baked goods that you can watch being made. Busy place, pretty good amount of seating (inside & outside), friendly staff :)

Yelp
Now this is a Bakery! I've got my favourite Bakery in Bristol that I rarely stray from. Unfortunately I moved away from it at the beginning of the year, so I don't get to go as much as I'd like now. But while in the area, I stumbled across Hart's Bakery. I have heard some awesome reviews about it so decided to pop and see what all the fuss was about. Hart's looks completely different to any bakery I've been to before. It's very rustic, which isn't abnormal for bakery, but the lighting and ambiance makes it feel like winter - but in a really lovely, snug kind of way! It feels like you don't want to leave. Like you've got everything you need right in front of you, so you might as well just stay put! I had a delicious latte and a pork and onion sausage roll, which was still warm. The pastry was so SO good! I'm a bit fussy when it comes to pastry. I don't really like it cold and if it's a bit tough then I tend just eat whatever is in the middle. The pastry on the sausage roll was absolutely perfect for me and the meat in the middle was amazing. Not too salty, which a lot of sausage rolls can be. I wanted a cake, I really did, but I wasn't hungry enough. I'm heading towards Harts again tomorrow, so I'll definitely be stopping for one then. I'll update when I do! But on first impressions, I may have found my new favourite bakery!

Yelp
If you're into nice cake, reasonable coffee and great toast, you can do a lot worse than start your morning at Hart's before you run for your train to work. You can see the baker at work and enjoy the friendliness and informal conversation with the staff, which makes for a fun atmosphere. Try the Saturday Cake, which is delicious!

Yelp
I love sour dough bread and Harts is THE best I have tasted, it's beautifully light and perfectly crusty, I can't believe I have only justdiscovered this place I also tried the almond croissants which were to die for. I only popped in to pick up the bread but I will definitely be back to try out the cafe, there was such a buzz in there this morning and it seems to be a lovely spot to have a cuppa and read the papers - watch this space for more reviews, I have a feeling I may well become a regular here !

Yelp
Good taste and variety of pastries and puddings and breads. Sadly all croissants gone by 9:30 on a saturday morning. Very polite staff.
