A lively Crown Heights taqueria, Güeros serves up delightful breakfast tacos, creative nachos, and giant margaritas in a cozy, colorful setting.
"Tacos and stiff margaritas are the main draws at this unpretentious Crown Heights taqueria, but the nachos are secret stunners. They’re packed high with all the requisite fixings, including cheese sauce, pico de gallo, sour cream, and salsa. For a few dollars more, they can be laced with any of the meats available, even fried chicken." - Paul Schrodt
"Ask a Texan about eating queso in New York, and they’ll probably laugh, realize you’re not kidding, and then start speaking in a very stern voice. But take them to the little patio in front of Gueros in Prospect Heights, and they’ll back down. This spot is right by Prospect Park, and you can find some excellent nachos and tacos here. You can also find some $13 margaritas that come in pint glasses." - hannah albertine
"There isn’t a ton of Tex-Mex in New York, but that doesn’t mean you should settle for the stale corn tortillas at Güeros. That’s a shame, because this casual, counter-service spot in Crown Heights does have good meats—like grilled hanger steak and well-seasoned carnitas—as well as a perfectly gooey queso with satisfyingly greasy chips. The workaround, if you really need some Tex-Mex and happen to be in the area on a weekend, is to head here for brunch, when they use flour tortillas to make great breakfast tacos, and migas. Güeros is also a useful spot for an inexpensive after-work margarita or beer at a picnic table in the large, covered outdoor structure. Pair these with that queso." - Kenny Yang
"This Tex-Mex joint puts its overly-hyped Manhattan peers to shame with serious tacos, great margaritas, and outdoor seating. We love this relaxed, tiny spot for any time of day, but the breakfast tacos need to be on your order if you're here for brunch." - katherine lewin
"Most Tex-Mex in NYC isn’t anything specail, but Gueros - a counter-service spot in Crown Heights - is an exception. Grab some breakfast tacos on your way to the Botanic Garden a few blocks away and eat them at a table out front." - nikko duren, matt tervooren
