20 Best Bangkok Hotels, From Grande Dames to Converted Canal Homes | Condé Nast Traveler

"Delivering a quintessential five-star experience, I noted over-the-top amenities like a house Mercedes and even a helipad, alongside Erawan Spa Cottages that face gardens. The rooms offer oversized soaking tubs, rain showers, Nakamichi stereo systems, free-flowing cocktails, and a personal spa concierge; their Sunday brunch is widely regarded as one of the best in the city." - Jenny Adams

"Grand Hyatt Erawan epitomizes modern Bangkok —it's big, busy, and well-located. The hotel is almost its own stop on the Sky Train, and once you step outside, you're on one of the most active corners of metropolitan Asia. Although the Grand Hyatt is linked to a shopping mall via a sky bridge, the world slows down a touch inside the hotel. The comings and goings of suit-clad men and women and shoppers clutching huge bags creates a soft-edged urban atmosphere. The high-ceilinged, almost colonial-feeling lobby sets up a pleasing contrast with the clean lines, neutral tones, and natural light of the spacious rooms. The hotel is kitted out with lots of technological perks, such enhanced work desk lighting and LCD screen TVs, and the service is attentive."

Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

"So, anything special this hotel is known for? Grand Hyatt Erawan does one of the best Sunday brunches in the city, one that attracts a lot of locals. There's also the Erawan Tea Room, which does an award-winning high tea. We'll definitely have to try the Sunday brunch. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? Help orient us. The hotel is located right next to Erawan Shrine, which is a popular tourist site. It's also directly adjacent to all levels of shopping at Siam Paragon, Siam Center, and Siam Discovery, as well as MBK, one of Asia's largest malls. It sounds pretty central; that's perfect. Tell us what we missed—are there any tips you'd like to offer up? The Erawan Spa Cottages are a cluster of resort-style villa suites that all face gardens. Oversize soaking tubs, rain showers, Nakamichi stereo systems, free-flowing cocktails, and a personal spa concierge are just a few of the many perks." - Jenny Adams

We stayed two nights at this hotel, and it turned out to be an excellent surprise for the price. The room was comfortable and offered a lovely view of the golf course. The décor is a bit dated and not exactly my style, but it suits the overall atmosphere of the hotel, so it wasn’t an issue. Breakfast was outstanding, with a wide variety of options and consistently delicious food. The team working there was also incredibly friendly and attentive. The lobby is impressive, and during our stay there was a wedding taking place: the decorations were beautiful and created a truly magical ambiance. The staff throughout the hotel was warm and welcoming. The pool area and its service felt genuinely luxurious. From the greeting on arrival to the complimentary fruit and even the bell on the sunbeds, everything contributed to a very relaxing experience. Thank you to the team for that. Although the hotel hosts many families with children, everyone was very well-behaved : no shouting or running around which made the stay even more pleasant. I will come back for sure

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was extremely nice and helpful throughout our visit, making us feel genuinely welcome. The location is amazing ,convenient and perfect for exploring the area. While the rooms are a bit dated, everything is very clean and well maintained, which we truly appreciated. A special mention goes to Gai in the club lounge, who took great care of us every night. The pool area is beautiful and a great place to relax, we didn’t get a chance to try the spa this time. Thanks to the wonderful staff and exceptional service, we will definitely be back again! Ashlie & Eran

This hotel doesn’t really deserve 5 starts yet I have no alternative. The service is excellent. The staff attentive. At the pool they will put the towel in the lounge chair for you and bring (free) tea. You have a button to hail them. They keep the place tidy. It’s great. The gym is immense and has almost everything. The location is perfect and you don’t have to play in a labyrinth of elevators to get to your room, like so often in Bangkok. The breakfast is a glorious mess. The Grand Gyatt uses its lobby for everything: check in, breakfast, waiting room… it’s full of energy and honestly intoxicating. You feel like breakfast itself is an adventure. The choices are enormous and quality surprisingly high. The room I was assigned was a slight upgrade due to my Hyatt status (thank you for that), but still ended up being a bit dark and sad. It might have been good a few decades ago, but today it feels very much 4 star hotel. It’s not bad, it’s just a bit depressing and I never really wanted to stay in the room, whereas in some hotels you’d feel like spending days in your room. A good hotel and good value if you can get it, but it’s often full unfortunately. Also interesting, despite being affordable, it manages to keep unsavory people at bay (mostly). I only had one issue with two young children fighting around the pool for half an hour, but the rest of the stay was tranquil. Usually cheaper locations bring tons of families on a budget who don’t always behave. Somehow this wasn’t the case here. Will try this hotel again with a better room and see how it goes.

From the very first moment, the Grand Hyatt made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Our arrival was shaped by the warmth and graciousness of Mr. Varis from Guest Experiences and Ms. Ruby from the Grand Club, who were, in every sense, the Directors of First Impressions. Their kindness, calm confidence and intuitive understanding of what we might need set a beautiful tone for our entire stay. They truly made us feel seen, not just received. Throughout our time in the lounge areas, Mrs. Gai welcomed us with such warmth and sincerity that every interaction felt personal. Her gentle attentiveness and friendly presence created a sense of familiarity, as if the hotel became a place we returned to rather than a place we simply stayed in. Together with Mrs. Mild, Mrs. Min, Mrs. Vara and Mr. Mel, she created an atmosphere that was both relaxed and quietly uplifting. Each of them added their own kindness and natural charm, making the lounge feel like a calm, comforting space we always enjoyed coming back to. Behind the scenes in the Grand Club kitchen, the dedication of Mr. Biju, Mrs. Iyi and her colleagues could be felt in every small detail that arrived at the table. Their work added a quiet kind of comfort that we appreciated very much. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Korn and the housekeeping team, whose hard work, consistency and attention to detail ensured that everything was always immaculate. Their quiet efficiency and kindness made a noticeable difference every day. On the culinary side of the hotel, we were deeply impressed by the talent and teamwork of the restaurant and kitchen teams. Our heartfelt thanks go to Chef Mr. Fortunato, Chef Mr. Senia and Chef Mr. Mohammad, whose vision and skill shaped the flavours and presentations we enjoyed. Their work reflected not only technical excellence, but also a real passion for what they do. We felt particularly uplifted by the presence of Mr. Kob, whose positive energy, warm personality and attentive service added a distinctive brightness to every visit. He has a rare ability to elevate the atmosphere around him, making each moment in the restaurant feel more vibrant and genuinely enjoyable. Our warm appreciation also goes to Mrs. Ann, whose beautiful smoothies and juices brought such freshness and joy to our mornings. And a sincere thank you to Mrs. Wan and her team for the perfectly prepared eggs. Their consistency and care, together with the kindness of Mrs. Ahn, Mrs. So and Mrs. Cartoon, contributed greatly to the pleasant rhythm of each morning and the many moments we savored at the table. And to all the other wonderful team members we encountered along the way: even if we cannot list every name, your kindness, your smiles and your constant willingness to help left a deep impression on us. You made the hotel feel alive in the best possible way. Beyond all the individual moments that made this stay so special, we also want to acknowledge the hotel itself. The Grand Hyatt has an exceptionally refined and elegant atmosphere, far beyond what we have experienced in other hotels of this category. In every detail and every interaction, you can feel the influence of a remarkable Hotel Manager whose high standards and clear vision shape the entire guest experience. It is this foundation that makes the warmth, care and professionalism of the staff truly shine. To the entire Grand Hyatt team, thank you for an experience filled with genuine warmth, care and hospitality. We look forward to returning and seeing you all again.

The Grand Hyatt Erawan truly feels like the Grand Dame among Bangkok’s hotels: gracefully aged, full of character and charm. The service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and always solution-oriented. You can tell in some corners that the hotel has been around for a while and that some renovations have happened here and there. But honestly, that just adds to the personality and doesn’t take away from the overall experience. The pool is great and relaxed, but the real highlight is the unbeatable location—right in the heart of Bangkok, perfect for exploring the city. We had a great time and would happily come back!

Excellent hotel in a prime location – with genuinely warm and professional service. I felt very welcome throughout my stay, and the complimentary upgrade was a lovely surprise. The staff are attentive and friendly, the atmosphere relaxed but elegant, and everything runs smoothly. Still, overall a great experience – and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended. That said, two very minor remarks – shared in the spirit of constructive feedback, not criticism: 1. The culinary offerings in the Club Lounge could use a little refresh. Compared to other Hyatt properties (even some lower-rated ones like the excellent Hyatt Regency), the selection felt limited – especially for vegetarian guests, and there’s currently no Afternoon Tea. 2. While the hotel is beautifully maintained, it’s beginning to show its age in some corners. A gentle facelift in selected areas would help this iconic property shine even brighter. But these are details – and they didn’t change the fact that I had a wonderful time. Thank you to the whole team for making me feel so at home. I look forward to returning soon – and to seeing this Bangkok classic continue to evolve.

I had such a wonderful stay at Grand Hyatt Erawan. The service is truly impeccable – the staff notice all the little details, from opening the taxi door, holding the entrance door, to assisting with luggage. At breakfast, the service crew were extremely attentive; I had a little flu and they kindly passed me tissues without me even asking – such thoughtful hospitality. The room may be a little dated, but it is very clean and well-maintained. Amenities are complete and ensure a very comfortable stay. The location is unbeatable – directly linked to the skywalk, making it so easy to shop or get around the city conveniently. Overall, a fantastic stay with service that really goes above and beyond. Highly recommend!

We stayed at the Hyatt in Bangkok for 3 days and had an amazing experience. The staff went above and beyond from check-in to checkout — super friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable with great city views. The breakfast buffet had a ton of delicious options, and the rooftop pool and bar were perfect for relaxing after exploring the city. Location was also great — close to shopping, restaurants, and the BTS. Highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Bangkok!
