"Gourdough’s is Austin’s original over-the-top donut shop, and while they briefly expanded into a few brick-and-mortar stores around town, they currently operate out of a lone trailer on South First. This is less of a donut you eat before work and more of one you treat as a massive dessert after a long night out, especially since they cost roughly $8 a pop. Expect to find things like gummy worms, slabs of bacon, and fried chicken on top. If you want novelty, you want Gourdough’s. " - nicolai mccrary
"Ask anybody who’s been in Austin for more than a few years what the name Gourdough’s means to them and you’ll likely hear the words “giant,” “ridiculous,” and “bacon” thrown into the conversation. "Gourdough’s Public House is a restaurant where the foundation of every dish is a funnel cake. And what a fantastic, beautiful nightmare it is. It’s essentially a dressed up sports bar with a GQ photoshoot-ready aesthetic. We’re not exactly sure what the scientific definition of a funnel cake is, but we know it’s some sort of fried bread that usually only exists in the confines of a carnival - until these people decided to change this. Whether you’re eating a burger, a salad, or a plate, a funnel cake is somehow incorporated into the mix. All ingredients involved are outstandingly tasty and built to destroy all walls of your mind’s better judgement. They offer a very large number of booze specials like a tower of beer that can render an entire fraternity pledge class or startup incubator unconscious." - Jordan Haro
"There’s an edible doughnut wall with sweets from Gourdough’s." - Erin Russell
"It might be worth your while to eat a few vegetables before stopping at Gourdough's. These donuts are the size of your face and are piled high with every topping under the sun. Want fried chicken on a donut? They've got it. Grilled bananas and bacon? Done. Since everyone's hopped up on sugar, diners are chatty so come prepared to make a few friends. Fingers-crossed that they'll share a bite of their donuts with you." - Jenna Scatena
