Glenn's Diner serves up fresh seafood and classic diner favorites in a cozy, no-frills space, perfect for brunch and laid-back meals.
"You might know Glenn’s as “that cereal place where you can get Apple Jacks in a chilled bowl of milk.” But it’s so much more than that. Glenn’s is also a great casual seafood restaurant, with crab legs and daily fish specials. If having cereal and seafood on the same table somewhere other than a Vegas buffet sounds weird to you, you’re totally right - but welcome to Glenn’s." - josh barnett, sam faye, adrian kane
"You might know Glenn’s as “that cereal place.” Yes, the walls are lined with shiny boxes you can order with really cold mil. And when you hear the word diner, you expect omelettes or spaghetti and meatballs, and Glenn’s has these things. But the real reason you’re at Glenn’s is for the seafood. The menu has a variety of things, with a long list of fresh fish, and things like mussels, clam chowder, jambalaya, and crab cakes. Everything is cooked nicely, and consistently good. Don’t expect creative masterpieces or fancy presentation. This is seafood prepared simply, in a (very) casual environment. Also worth noting is that this diner has a wine list, and it’s all $18 a bottle. Food Rundown New England Clam Chowder Bostonians would be proud to call this chowder their own. Spaghetti and Meatballs It seems random, but we’d come here for the meatballs alone. Seafood items will be the most enticing, which means you need to come at least twice: once for seafood, and once for spaghetti and meatballs. Cioppino Glenn’s version includes practically all of the fish in the ocean, including plenty of mussels and shrimp. If you love spicy food, this needs to be your choice. It’s also served in a bowl the size of a KitchenAid mixer, so sharing isn’t a bad idea. Sea Scallops Before Glenn’s, we would’ve said a “hearty scallop dish” was an oxymoron. They proved us wrong by plating five enormous scallops on a bed of bacon-mushroom cream sauce. The sauce is spoon worthy. King Crab Legs The Ferrari of sea-dwellers, served with corn on the cob rolled in butter and parmesan. They’re all you can eat on Tuesdays - we suggest you make a reservation. Cereal We’re not your mother, so don’t make us treat you like that. Order the cereal if you want. It’s tempting, we know. Pie It is a diner, get one of everything." - Caitlin Doermer
"Glenn’s Diner, once a popular neighborhood restaurant in Chicago known for seafood and cereal bowls, is closing after a 17-year run. The restaurant's decline began after Glenn Fahlstrom left in 2009 following a legal dispute. The diner, put up for sale in 2019, will close on July 31." - Ashok Selvam
"Glenn’s Diner, the popular, longtime Ravenswood restaurant known for its cereal and seafood, has surfaced for sale on the real estate market." - Daniel Gerzina
"Montrose Brown Line Glenn’s is right next to the Montrose Brown stop in Ravenswood, and it’s an odd restaurant. On the one hand, it’s known as “that cereal place where you can get Apple Jacks in a chilled bowl of milk,” but on the other, it’s also a great casual seafood restaurant, with crab legs and daily fish specials. If having cereal and seafood on the same table sounds weird to you, you’re not wrong. But you should still come here. When you’re done, hit up the Ravenswood outpost of Margie’s Candies, which is right nearby. It’s an old-school ice cream shop where you can order a giant sundae in a clamshell bowl with gravy boats of homemade hot fudge and caramel on the side. Which is basically the ultimate f*ck you to winter." - adrian kane
