Gjelina Take Away serves up upscale wood-fired pizzas and gourmet sandwiches in a stylish spot, perfect for grabbing a casual meal on the go.
"Choose between two very nontraditional and flavorful breakfast sandwiches at Gjelina Take Away. First up is the turkey egg sandwich featuring a fried sunny-side-up egg, rapini pesto, and fontina on brioche. And then there’s the GTA egg sandwich with braised kale, melted gruyere, a fried egg, bacon, and hot sauce on an English muffin." - Eater Staff
"Gjelina Take Away quietly closed back in June and now quietly reopened. A few things are a little different, like how GTA has adopted Gjelina’s strict no-modifications rule. The menu is fairly the same (pizza slices, their trademark meatball sub, salads), but with more Gjelina dishes and a new butterscotch pot de crème." - sylvio martins
"A lot of people in Venice seem to have the kind of job that allows them to take three-hour lunches (probably because they just sold their new networking app to the cloud, or however it works). If you are not one of those people, you will probably not be having lunch at Gjelina today. But if you’re in the mood for one of their sandwiches or pizza, there’s hope - skip the lines and order from GTA next door. The slimmed-down menu has most of the Gjelina classics, as well as some stuff you can only get there - so you can take your pork meatball sandwich back to your desk and eat like your IPO depends on it." - jess basser sanders, amy clark
"Gjelina Take Away, known for wood-fired pizzas and milk crate-seating, closed on June 2. It will reopen under the same ownership with an updated menu structure and offerings." - Cathy Chaplin
"Gjelina is a very good restaurant, but trying to walk in without a reservation can still be a pain. If all you want is a bubbly, charred pizza, head next door to their takeout spot to scratch that itch. Eat your pizza standing or find a spot on the bench outside. In either case, the entire meal will take much less time than dining at the mothership. And while the 11-inch pies are great, we like the sandwiches even more—especially the meatball (always get this on baguette, not brioche.)" - Brant Cox, Sylvio Martins
