Welcome to @chapatimelbourne ... the CBD's newest Indian restaurant 👏 I've just realised this is my 700th post 🙇♂️ on Insta.
They have an amazing range of authentic dishes, from Punjab in the north, Kerala in the south, staples from Mumbai, and classics from Bengal in the west 👍
I shared a
- Dhai Puri ❤️
- Chicken Tikka Tandoori
- a Lamb Cutlet
- Dhal Bukhara
- Goan Fish Curry
- Chaparti signature Naan both garlic and butter
- Steamed Basmati rice
- and a very nice glass of white wine.
Chapati showcases the best of Indian cuisine in one place. Every dish was unique and full of flavour. They were absolutely delicious 😍
For those who can't decide, there are three tasting menu's which make dining that much easier 😀
If you want to try some absolutely delicious Indian food, this is the place to go. 💝
There's also a cool bar upstairs too.

The food both the entrée and the main course were overall good. The portion sizes were a bit small for the prices. The service and the host were outstanding!

An absolute gem in Melbourne! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the exceptional service—truly a class apart. The cosy yet upscale vibe made the experience even more enjoyable. We started with the Dahi Puri, which had the perfect balance of yogurt and chutneys, bursting with flavor in every bite. The Gun Powder Potatoes were equally delicious, packed with just the right amount of spice. For mains, we had Dal Bukhara and Lasuni Paneer, paired with Naan and Chur Chur Paranthas. I can confidently say, this is the best naan in all of Melbourne! The Dal Bukhara was unbelievably rich and flavourful—nowhere else in the city have I found dal this delectable. The Lasuni Paneer was another standout, with a gravy so good we couldn’t stop dipping our naan into it. To end on a sweet note, we had Malpua, and let’s just say—I licked my plate clean! It was pure nostalgia in every bite. If you’re looking for top-notch North Indian food in Melbourne, this is THE place to be. Can’t wait to be back! 👏🔥

Chapati CBD is such a cozy and comfortable spot to enjoy a meal! The food is flavorful and definitely above average in taste—not too spicy, which is great, but they’re happy to bring extra chili if you like it hotter. The service was absolutely amazing—friendly, attentive, and efficient. A great place to relax and enjoy authentic indian food in the cbd.

Really wanted to love them but unfortunately very disappointed.
Came in to order takeaway on a Thursday night.
The food itself was quite oily and very small portions. Pav bhaji was almost inedible with 2/3 of the container purely just oil.
Vada pav although okay tasting was a very tiny portion.
The $25 mushroom dish was 4 small button mushrooms coated in oil - I had to use a paper towel to dab most of it off in order for it to be edible.
The oil in the food gave us both indigestion and upset stomachs. They also left out and forgot to pack the dahi puri that I ordered and paid for.
Contact number on the website is a 1800 number that leads nowhere and no response yet from emailing them to let them know.
Service was lacking and the staff seem to be very confused, the waitress didn’t hand out a menu nor was able to answer questions on serving sizes.
Overall incredibly disappointed. Was very much looking forward to our street food and v disappointed. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend anyone dine here.
Also kind of odd/shady to keep all of the old higher rating reviews for Gingerboy but attribute it to Chapati…. kind of dishonest.
