"The Ultimate Chick Shop? "The ultimate chick shop" is what concept boutique MagMaLou refers to itself as. Indeed, the shop, located in fashionable area Frogner, offers clothes (both new and vintage), shoes, bags and accessories, as well as a separate hair and beauty lounge, where you can book yourself in for a "star treatment." Run by makeup artist Marthe Kvenli Valeberg, who has won prizes for her work, MagMaLou opened its doors in 2011 and is still going strong. The focus is presenting customers with a trendy but welcoming image, and everyone is welcome!"

An affordable and very efficient way to stay in Oslo—I never saw another person the whole time I was there (neither staff nor guest), and the little kiosk screen in the lobby worked effortlessly to check me in and spit out my key. The room was fairly spacious and equipped with a kitchenette, which was handy. The reason I’ve taken a star away is because I stayed on a Friday night and it was noisy. The room wasn’t sufficiently sound-proofed to keep the bar noise out, and the street below is full of bars. Other than that, a great concept.

Third time I've been living here, and I am so happy I found this place. It has been the perfect distance to where I've been going to classes. I like the privacy and option to make my own meals in the small kitchen. Also, the service has been really good. The only problem is that I am a light sleeper, and that the walls aren't really that well isolated. This can be said of a lot of hotels too, of course, but the building is a bit older, so sound isolation probably wasn't a big priority when they built it. But aside from that - I am very happy about staying here.

Spacious room, but very NOISY and hot. No AC, and the bathroom heater made it worse. Right next to VERY LOUD tram lines, so sleep was difficult. No front desk staff, as this place is self check-in only, so no in-person help available when issues arose.

I was very excited for my 27 night stay. My room was absolutely nothing like any on the website. Very bland and run down. TV was crooked and in the way to get to the wardrobe. The rug was a constant headache. It was 30 degrees only supplied with a tiny fan and the underfloor heating was still on, very uncomfortable and awful to sleep. Staples hanging out the chair, very dangerous. The main lightswitch didn't work. Towel changes were done regularly as stated, but my linen was only changed on the 11th day when I queried it and never again. Nothing, absolutely nothing was worse than the noise from outside. Friday and Saturday it is incredibly loud till beyond 3am. Most of the other nights you can easily be woken by cars, motorbikes or drunken foghorns.

Great apartments which include a small kitchen for basic cooking! the only feedback is that the staff should let the customers know that they have to tap the keycard for locking the door, that took me a bit to figure out.

Excellent staff, great location, room size excellent, and bathroom had heated floor, wonderful. Buuuttt....No air conditioning in the room itself. Only one window was available for opening for fresh or cooler air. Rather a big surprise after getting into the room.

This little marvel is placed uptown in a quiet street close to bus and tram-stops. 10-12 minutes walk to absolute downtown Oslo. The street has several local bakeries and coffee shops. Service is excellent, with a smiling receptionist and effective digital check inn 24/7. The rooms are spacious, classic and clean with period furniture and nice views down to the life of a typical high end Norwegian city dweller. A great experience. I would like to point out Miss Nora at their customer office, she is especially service minded, quick and smiles through the phone. I will come back!

The good: |Fairly good prices & room rates for this premium part of town. Rooms are very spacious, esp. in the top floor studio rooms. Beds are comfy, bathroom comes with a decent size bathtub, with good kitchen facilities for longer stays.||The bad: |Only real issue is the noise from the trams, cars, and late night/early morning drunk revellers. Do take earplugs, esp. if it’s warm outside and you need the window slightly open to get some air. On a weekend, don’t expect the noise to quieten down before well after 4 a.m. ||Good to know: |Frogner House can arrange breakfasts with the nearby baker at an additional cost, but your best bet is just grabbing some breakfast snacks from the nearby supermarkets the night before. The room provides you a couple of tea bags/coffee capsules, but you must buy them from reception if you want more (which is a bight tight). Most of the staff are fairly pleasant, although one of the chaps at the desk did come across as somewhat aloof. ||Parking/Surroundings: Free at night in the streets (8pm - 9am). Otherwise I believe you can ask for spaces they have in the back of the property (at a cost). |In this neighbourhood, you are close by to some great restaurants, cafés, trams & busses.
