"Just when we were beginning to worry that “design” had become a synonym for “monochrome,” along comes a place like Athens’ Fresh Hotel, a place that’s bursting with color. And by color we don’t mean muted earth tones, or burgundy and brown leather — think, instead, of a palette that’s not found in nature, a selection of cartoon colors like safety orange, hot pink and lime green." - Mark Fedeli

"Designed in 2003 by Athens-based Tassos Zepos, the Fresh Hotel is a contemporary nine-story building in the gritty, up-and-coming neighborhood of Psiri. It makes up for its somewhat dated design tricks (think hot-pink Plexiglas reception area, Philippe Starck chairs, black leather couches, and all-white rooms) with its great value for money and trendy rooftop bar. Open from May to October, the roof, with its small pool and sweeping views of the Acropolis, is a popular hangout in the summer for stylish locals."

This hotel is amazing. The best location, and the staff simply wonderful. Watched New Year’s Eve fireworks from the rooftop with the acropolis as the backdrop. Athens is my favourite city now and Fresh Hotel made our trip outstanding.

The location is unquestionably perfect. Walking distance to touristic attractions and wonderful restaurants. The staff was super welcoming and attentive to every need and request. Highly recommended for single travelers and couples. Breakfast was good, but could use a little refresh every now and then.

The Fresh Hotel is a Marriott Design Hotel. The rooms are cozy and in my humble opinion not up to Marriott’s standards. The staff is nice and the breakfast that is included in the rate is okay. Within a two block radius the neighborhood is sketchy. As hubby and I walked passed the Central Market one evening on our return to the hotel, we saw a man sitting on the sidewalk with a needle in his arm, apparently shooting up a drug. Once out of the two block radius you are okay. There are many stores and restaurants in the area and the area is very walkable. The view from my balcony was of a dilapidated building. Additionally, this hotel is not smoke free. Despite the walk ability of the area and decent breakfast, I will not stay at this hotel when I return to Athens. There are a plethora of hotels in this fabulous city and I would chose one in an area where I would feel more comfortable.

Modern hotel in walking reach of all attractions. Rooms modern, clean and well maintained. Has a roof tip with swimming pool, areas to sit and restaurant, as great views from the roof top of most of Athens. Breakfast is really good and is free. Staff very helpful and friendly. If staying in Athens highly recommended.

Our flight was delayed on late notice (past the cancellation/modification window) and so we asked to move back our one night reservation by one night. The hotel would NOT accommodate this request even though the Moxy Athens City accommodated us under the exact same situation a few days earlier. I would recommend staying at the Moxy Athens City (also part of Marriott) given their excellent customer service.||Full message from hotel for transparency below:|"Dear XXX valued Platinum Elite Marriott Member,| |Thank you for your message| |Unfortunately – & due to the extremely late notice – we kindly have to decline your request & action our late cancellation penalty fee, as per program agreement| |Apologies for the inconvenience caused| |With Best regards | |Dimitris Nikolopoulos

Rooms were clean and comfortable - and large by European standards. Food and service at rooftop restaurant were fantastic. Front desk staff - in particular Rolland, but other staff as well - frequently went above and beyond to provide exceptional service. It is clear to see that this is a very well-managed hotel. The location is not the best, but it's not bad - and there is a stop for the "hop on, hop off" bus just outside.

We were really impressed with this hotel! It had everything you could imagine for a downtown location. Good gym, sauna and lovely clean and fresh facilities. Furnishings were gorgeous and well thought out designs. We had a suite and found it through the Marriott site as we are members. Truly unexpected value!

We been there only to use the pool. Is very central and well equipped, the pool is very tiny! 40€ entrance fee includes a soft drink. Quite expensive but a good way to chill in the Greek heat. I recommend go in early to get the sun bed by the pool!
