"Owner Julian Cavin tells Eater that he has split with former co-owner Jamison Blankenship, renamed the business Valentine’s, and has brought in Joey Scalabrino of Leo pizzeria fame as his partner." - Emma Orlow
"The guys at Greenberg’s Bagels are now turning their attention to pizza. Taking over the storefront beside their bustling Bedford Avenue bagelry, Frankie & Vali’s is now open." - Emma Orlow
"Between Frankie & Vali’s and their sister spot Greenberg’s Bagels next door, you could eat a wagon-full of delicious baked things without ever leaving the corner of Bedford and Lexington in Bed-Stuy. The New York-style pies have a great crust that walks the tightrope between chewy and crackly, dishing out a bit of both with each bite. The menu changes daily, but there are always six or so pies to choose from - including an excellent sausage slice topped with fontina, hot peppers, and a bit of chive, which somehow ends up tasting a bit barbecue-y in the best way possible. They also serve sandwiches on homemade focaccia and a few salads, both of which go very well with the large pies, picnic table-lined patio, and the BYO policy (Atlas Wine Merchants is conveniently located one door down)." - Max Bonem
