"New York City is not necessarily a wing city. There are serviceable options, to be sure, and always have been—dive bar Buffalo baskets, namely. Come 2016, when Fish Cheeks opened in NoHo, the ebullient Thai restaurant brought with it a menu item so juicy yet so crisp, so sweet yet so sharp and all around-unexpected, that they’ve remained one of the essential bites in this city in the decade that has followed. How do they do it? The enormous wings are served full—as in, drum and flat still connected—fried and tossed in a dry-rub of chili, lime, sugar, and chili. Kwame Onwuachi, of New York institution Tatiana, among others, is on the record confirming it here: “This is the best wing in New York City, hands down.”" - Kat Chen
"Fish Cheeks has been open for nearly a decade, and the Thai restaurant’s popularity has never waned. Now there’s a second location in Brooklyn for the seafood dishes that made the Noho original such a favorite. While Fish Cheeks’ second location in Williamsburg can’t replicate the original’s cobblestoned Bond Street charm, they do have a couple of exclusive dishes. There’s a tom yum with crispy pork belly, shrimp, and squid, as well as raw blue crab marinated in lime juice, fish sauce, and chili." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim
"After nearly a decade in Noho, Fish Cheeks’ second location in Williamsburg is already making it look easy. That crowd-pleasing coconut crab curry, the dry-spiced zabb wings, and other favorites are just as good in the new space. And there are a couple of new exclusive dishes worth seeking out here: an abundant tom yum seafood hot pot with thick noodles, and a pile of marinated raw blue crabs that come with gloves, but might as well come with a fire extinguisher. Come for a quick dinner, or settle in for a night of grazing. Just try to ask for a seat in the front room over the awkwardly wedge-shaped back room." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim, sonal shah
"For a little cobblestoned, street-side dining, Fish Cheeks in Noho should be your destination. Start with a few oysters on the half shell, served with nam jim and fried shallots, and a pomelo salad. Then grab a coconut crab curry, and enjoy the summer breeze in a vibrantly colored outdoor dining setup." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, willa moore, sonal shah
"The Deal: $12 for 1/2 dozen oysters; $22 for a dozen oysters; $13 specialty cocktails; $11 wine; $7-$9 beer At Fish Cheeks, a popular Thai restaurant in Noho, you’ll probably encounter a wait, but the food will be worth it. Come by during the afternoon happy hour when there’s less of a wait, or head over at 5pm for the same deals." - willa moore, neha talreja, will hartman, sonal shah
