Excellent history of this old mill with various pieces of the relevant equipment on show. Additionally, packed with good quality exhibits and product from individual local artists....no tat! Tearoom and loos in the basement.

What an amazing place to visit. So much talent and creative people. Gifts to buy and a great cafe. The history of the Mill has also been kept along with displays. Really worth a visit.

The exhibition about the history of the woolen mill is fascinating and well done. Lovely crafts and art to buy if you're looking for something a bit different. The café was rather overwhelmed on the rainy Saturday when we visited, but we were lucky to find a table and our sandwiches were very nice.

We both have an avid interest in local history and a great love of the Yorkshire Dales, it’s landscapes, wildlife and the warm welcome of locals who call it home. Our first visit to Farfield Mill was both interesting and full of surprise in terms of the heritage crafts on show and the people, volunteers and skilled crafts- persons who strive to keep these arts alive for the enjoyment and education of everyone who encounters the Mill at Sedbergh. The Mill has been beautifully and compassionately restored by a passionate team of locals and the many studios within show off the talents and products of skilled artists. It was a real pleasure to have the opportunity to talk to some of these artists and craft people to gain an understanding of their chosen fields and a little of their own stories that had lead them to contribute to the success of what is a fascinating repository and centre to cultivate and preserve heritage arts and crafts in the area. The near 200 year history of Farfield Mill is well worth taking in on ones journey around the four spacious floors that comprise what was a hive of industry in the 20th century. If you love arts, history and heritage skills, this is the place you need to visit.

OMG the best scones with jam and cream and cappuccino! Beautiful building and seating overlooking the river. We visited twice and thoroughly recommend.

I have been visiting Farfield now for nearly 40 years and have seen development happen. The displays vary across most media and forms. There is display, working artists and sellers throughout the building. As a background is the mill itself which was still working when I first visited but is now just in limbo. On the ground floor there is an excellent cafe. A lift is available for those unable to use stairs but theapproach from the car park is uneven and inclined.

Awesome historic venue full of workshops where local artisans make their crafts. I bought several framed handprints, a wool scarf, and pottery. There are plenty of creative crafts for sale to choose from. The lady at the cashier is in urgent need of a basic course on how to wrap pottery up. The tearoom would be more appealing if it were 3-4 degrees warmer.

OK for a visit but have seen more interesting 'old mills' to be honest. Popped in whilst on our hike so didn't just go out to visit the mill. Perhaps worth a visit but wouldn't really go back again.

Yelp
I have a friend that works at Farfield Mill, so when she suggested I take a (very scenic) walk there, have a gander at the art and crafts then enjoy some home made cake and a coke at the cafe, on went the pack-a-mac and hiking boots. My friend was right, the walk to Farfield from the nearby town of Sedbergh is delightful. The old converted textile mill is set near the majestic Cumbrian fells, perched next to a picturesque river and now showcases the wares of local artists and craftsmen/women. Their creations are for sale and you can see and buy everything from beautiful glass-blown perfume bottles and watercolour paintings to wooly blankets and books about fashion design. It's really quite something, though not exactly cheap. The top floor of the mill is an exhibition area. This week, live weaving demonstrations could be seen for a small fee, but I'm not too fussed with weaving so gave it a miss. On the bottom floor, you can read about the mill's history and see how it would have looked long ago, walk around the art gallery and then head to the cosy cafe. It boasts a small outdoor seating area overlooking the river - perfect for dog walkers or those who want to soak up those rare northern rays (I'm told they do make an appearance every now and then). I ordered a piece of homemade toffee sponge cake, which was absolutely lush, soooooo moist and moreish. Hats off to whoever baked that, it was the perfect way to refuel for the walk home (around 2 miles). This is a gorgeous spot for lunch, a coffee or a simple nosey at some incredibly inspiring. And if you're into photography, take your camera along - you're bound to get some good snaps on the way there.

Yelp
Farfield Mill is a converted textile mill in a beautiful riverside setting with views of the Howgill Fells. The interior houses a number of studios where artists and craftspeople work. All the work is for sale and there is a central shop with a large range of art and craft items. Other attractions include working looms (you can buy the finished rugs and blankets), heritage displays, exhibitions and a cafe. Well worth a visit!

Yelp
Good to see a place like this housing small craft businesses, most of which sell very good quality art, clothing, pottery etc. The cafe downstairs is very good indeed. You can find it on the Hawes Road going out of Sedbergh. The one minus point for me was the over zealous attitude of the chap taking the admission fee who tried to push (very hard) the gift aid concept down my throat. No need for it, a simple sign saying do you want to include gift aid in your admission fee or not would suffice.
